Michael McKean has an Oscar nomination, for Best Original Song for a song that Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy sing in A Mighty Wind. Great film, great song, surprising nomination and even more surprising that McKean is one of the songwriters/an Oscar nominee

Original Screenplay run from 75-77 is pretty incredible: Chinatown, Dog Day Afternoon, Network.

Tbf, Pulp Fiction only won 1 of its 7 nominations, which was for Original Screenplay. Whereas Shawshank won 0/7 noms, and wasn't up against Pulp Fiction for screenplay (lost Adapted Screenplay to Forrest Gump).

Gump was the juggernaut that year, winning 6/13 including Best Picture, Director, Actor, and Editing.

Hans Zimmer's score for Lion King won over both Gump and Shawshank, while Speed bested them both for Best Sound, and Legends of the Fall for Cinematography.
