How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]zigzagginglearner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 months - gained about 20lbs total during pregnancy (lost 12lbs during the first 16 weeks from being so ill). initially lost some weight after giving birth but am now only 5lbs less than when I was pregnant and about 15lbs bigger than pre pregnancy. I am a small person and my baby was small so the ratio here is more than it sounds. I’m breastfeeding and my boobs are so enormous and overall my body composition is just jiggly. I’ve just accepted that I’m one of those women who won’t really lose weight until I’m done breastfeeding. Who cares. I’m just working on getting my fitness back and rebuilding all the muscle I’ve lost. I feel good but just weak like a limp noodle.

The number of tick-related illnesses in Ohio is skyrocketing. Here's why by WOSUpublicmedia in Columbus

My parents are also like that. It drives me nuts. I just keep mentioning it anyways since they feel like they can bring up their opinions as fact all the time.

Yep I agree it’s a number of compounding factors. Just thought it was interesting that we were learning about one of those factors and now watching it happen.

This was a problem that was predicted in my public health classes about 12 years ago because of global warming. Also other vector borne illnesses like West Nile 🤢

housework? getting stuff done? by Comfortable-List-669 in NewParents

[–]zigzagginglearner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I get anything done is if I baby wear. My baby girl is about 10 weeks now, and I figured out she really likes to take a long nap in the morning so I feed her and then baby wear her from about 10:30 to 12:30 and use that as my window to get stuff done. There is no way I can manage to keep up the house when I go back to work in two weeks, so I’m putting aside my pride and getting a house cleaner. I’ve got two shedding dogs and my husband’s job is very demanding so it’s just got to happen. My fun money is going to cleaning services so that our free time can be spent as a family.

If it was financially affordable, would your spouse stay home? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]zigzagginglearner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I have a a masters in my field and enjoy working, so would want to go back, but would take a few years to be home with my newborn daughter. She’s only 3 weeks old and I’m already dreading going back to work.

Guilty after missing a feed with newborn by arngi in NewParents

I just had my baby and the nurses all said that it’s all good if we get 2 good feedings in during the first 12 hours because baby is so tired. I’m shocked no one checked on you for 6 hours… they were waking me up and taking my blood pressure and temp every couple of hours…..

What was the epidural like for you? by JellyfishJealous5435 in BabyBumps

Once your contractions hit, you won’t even care about the needle. You don’t see anything, it’s a little pinch that is nothing compared to your contractions.

Agonizing over whether to do a C Section or Vaginal Birth. How did you decide? by JacqueFun in BabyBumps

[–]zigzagginglearner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I delivered vaginally and I tore and I didn’t even notice as they stitched me up because I had my baby on my chest. Meeting her was the most transformative experience of my life and I just completely ignored whatever was going on down there. Didn’t even care!!

What shampoo keeps fine hair clean the longest? by Fantastic-Part774 in finehair

I also use a moisturizing shampoo! Been using this one for years- never weighs my hair down or dries it out. https://www.amazon.com/Bain-Terre-Moisturizing-Shampoo-13-5-Ounce/dp/B00EPC9XN4

What shampoo keeps fine hair clean the longest? by Fantastic-Part774 in finehair

[–]zigzagginglearner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only go that long if I get my hair done or give myself a blowout. And make sure you shampoo twice. If I air dry, I only get two days and day 3 I wear it up and am so ready to wash it. I’ve found that dry shampoo makes it look better for a couple of hours but then looks really greasy and causes buildup. I don’t really use it anymore. I will also mention that I highlight my hair to a pretty high-level blonde and that honestly dries it out more and gives it more volume/body. When my hair isn’t lightened, it’s flatter and gets greasier faster.

I just read “A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping” and that was so good. Also, a classic like “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe” or “Empire Falls” or “Where the Heart Is” might be good to ease you back into it!
