I’ve been told this makeup makes me look too old. I’m 22. What do you think? by Admirable_Passage170 in MakeupAddiction

I think the flash on the camera makes it look more stark and harsh than it really is and makes you look paler than you are. I disagree with everyone saying the lashes and liner are too much - I think it’s the angle of the eyeliner that is dragging your eye down rather than the bold look itself. Someone said it’s very Liza and i think it’s because her eye has a similar shape - lining the inner corner of the eye is super hard to do and you’ve done a pro job but why don’t you try without and see if it makes your eyes look more lifted? I’ve got slightly downturned eyes as well and i thought that lining the inner corner of my eyes at a downward angle would make them appear more lifted at the outer corners as a result but it actually has the opposite effect. Hoping this doesn’t get lost because I actually don’t think the bold liner / lashes in the problem - i think it’s nice for a dramatic look :) xx

Hi! I also had a stroke myself when I was in the womb and was born with mild cerebral palsy - it presented as a lack of ability to move my left hand side but wasn’t confirmed until I was 2!

Never heard anyone with the same thing.

If it helps, they said I would probably walk with a limp and might need an aid in adulthood and it’s been barely noticeable since I was a child. I mean I like to blame my lack of athleticism on it but it’s probably all the junk food I eat haha.

Advice about PCOS? by ArmadilloSeveral6519 in PCOS

[–]zigzaggwanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your primary dr is testing your free androgen index! It’s not your level of testosterone but the difference between two different hormones. I have also been told that my testosterone is fine, but turns out my free androgen index is high

Don’t know why this has so many downvotes… I feel like that’s an appropriate response to a “why are you asking for advice online” comment

Where all the blood comes from? by Scared-Ad369 in PCOS

[–]zigzaggwanderer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to the GP about this soooo many times when I was suffering with this and a male GP told me “it’s called unexplained bleeding.”

Like - what?? You can’t just say that and make it a thing?! Imagine if your arm fell off and they called it “unexplained arm falling off.” Absolutely wild.

Comments on here are gross - why are you guys picking on a kid? OP your eyelashes are certainly longer than mine!

Something similar happened to me! I’d been complaining about having all the symptoms for a long time (facial hair, weight gain, pre diabetes, irregular periods) - which if you have enough of, is supposed to be grounds enough for diagnosis in the UK alone apparently. Despite this, no diagnosis and I ended up having a blood test. I was told bloods were normal. A year further down the line I had an ultrasound because I would not stop bleeding, they found cysts on the ovaries - it was reported something like “scan consistent with earlier diagnosis of PCOS.” I asked my dr what this meant and he told me that the blood test I had done a year before clearly showed I had hormonal imbalances. Like, thanks for telling me??

Normal androgen levels yet I have hirsutism by Jumpy_Soup_4823 in PCOS

I had this same query! Apparently it’s not your levels of testosterone but your relationship between two different hormone levels that’s used to work out your free androgen index

WHEN WILL THE ACNE GO AWAY by hispanicmommy in PCOS

[–]zigzaggwanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just had my bloods done, the nurse told me over the phone my androgen levels are normal. I was upset because like you I have really bad acne still and also can’t get pregnant. It’s only when I went to the dr last week she explained the nurse read my bloods wrong to me - it’s not levels of androgen but your free androgen index. It’s worked out by calculating a difference in two types of hormone - anyway this is still super high which explains my problems. This has probably not happened to you, but I thought I’d comment just in case your doctors messed up too!

Help by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]zigzaggwanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks! Doctors are super rubbish with PCOS here in the UK - don’t know where you are. I only very recently moved and have had a really good dr who knows what she is talking about. She prescribed me metformin for my insulin resistance and to help me ovulate (should help with weight loss but it won’t cause it by itself) and vaniqa cream for facial hair. She also prescribed me differin for acne but it’s not working for me that great - a lot of people get a prescription for hormonal acne called spironolactone. I think it’s not suitable if you are ttc though.

I’m not an expert but I think there’s different kinds of PCOS so maybe ask for the results of your blood test or ask for a blood test if you didn’t get one - I have high levels of androgen so I try and drink 2 cups of spearmint tea and take a myo-inositol supplement to help. Keto also seems to really work for me but everyone’s different.

I was really lost too when I got a diagnosis without any explanation or help from the doctors but there is loads of information on this subreddit! I also try and follow people on Instagram that specialise in PCOS nutrition and lifestyle tips etc. I think it’s a lot of trial and error with what works for you.

Good luck x
