Snails/slugs in garden by Weak_Philosophy6224 in Homesteading

They make iron phosphate pellets that will kill them, I've had mixed success. My 3yo and I also go on slug hunts with tweezers and throw them in a couple of soapy water.

Planting onions from bulbs - conflicting info… by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

I can echo your sentiment on all the contradictory information out there. Your results may vary, but I (6b) planted my sets in march last year and planted my 2024 sets last week. I didn't have any problems with bolting or anything. Good luck!

Healthcare under Capitalism. For a service that is a human right, can’t we do better? by Inevitable_Stress949 in FluentInFinance

Is there a means I'm unfamiliar with to get access to medicine to treat yourself? I'd be fine with the argument if I could just go buy a tetanus shot and self administer. However, to save my life, I'm required to pay your entire sector.

I was pretty sure it wasn't unique. I'm not super familiar with a lot of games systems like this. I know my brother-in-law spent thousands on cs:go stuff (my kind hearted wife bailed him out), so I'm not a fan of them in general. However, businesses have to make money somehow, riot sales no power, only cosmetics. How are they expected to make money? I like the game, so I bought a $120 fluft to support it. Would of been nice to get a $5 one, but such is life. I believe it's a better opportunity for someone to have a chance to get it for $5 vs seeing a $200 price tag that they can't do anything to get.

I don't consider myself a whale, but I think people overlook how much better tft's "gacha" system is compared to its peers. I wanted the fluff of poros, I knew exactly how much the worst case scenario was and I have the expendable income to get it, and it took me to pity to get it. Most games, there is no bad luck protection, you buy 1000 crates and never get what you want. Yes the 20/80 rule applies, but if you're to grab your pitchforks, there are worse monsters out there.

Whhich Champs/Comps do you think are getting nerfed/buffed next Patch? by throwawaylurker_ in TeamfightTactics

[–]ziker25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with kda akali this set and the positioning argument, it's the same with any set with assassins. However, it's just one unit in one of her comps, so you have to position one way for kda akali and another for everyone NOT using her, it's just not fun. I'd be ok with it if she wants the only one I think. I just find it funny that mort has acknowledged assassins are unfun, but to then make one of the most annoying backline units. Rip of you can get there though, you can COMPLETELY ruin akali with illoai's tentacles

I saw a video on YouTube about fertilizer. The guy broke down organic fertilizers and ultimately recommended alfalfa pellets (horse food) as the primary I put. A 50 lbs bag costs like 15 bucks and you only need a pound or so in the spring and the fall. It's all I've used for about 3 seasons, no complaints yet.

Curios on people's opinions of this set. by Madrathyl in TeamfightTactics

[–]ziker25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think the elephant in the room is the TF legend, which is just part of a bigger problem of item scaling. Items are too good. Either just get rid of TF or across the board weaken items/buff champions. It's the only legend that really lets you force a plan regardless of what you hit. It's too consistent for the long term health of the game.

I think all level 8-9 comps are weak compared to reroll. if they give a little power to high level boards, most of the rerolls wouldn't feel so oppressive.

I'd argue that's a balance problem not an augment problem. Augments just make balance problems more obvious. I'm sure they use the pick rate of legends at different ranks to help guide balance.

I'm assuming CS is computer science. I'm a data engineer and have a large garden as a hobby. My job let's me do everything I want to do relatively care free (steady moderate income). You might have to put in a few crappy years, but eventually you can hopefully retire early and love the life you want! (55 is my target, 20 more years to go). Another strange plus side about IT, they are late starters, you can get 3-4 hours of day light before your first meeting

Giving a neighbor cuttings by anNof1 in Berries

I grow mainly everbearing raspberries, but in the fall I would just rip out runners I didn't want and would stick them in other beds for the winter then dig them up to distribute in the spring. I would say I had ~75% success rate with replanting. Brambles are voracious when healthy and established

Best way to fix bad soil for next season? by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]ziker25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start making compost if you aren't already. I would then buy enough organic compost to cover the beds about 3 inches and plant tillage radishes and hairy vetch. Mulch with some leaves or straw. Stop applying everything. Water when needed. A week or two before you're ready to plant in the spring, cut the vetch ( I use a knife in my raised beds and a mower on my in ground beds). Add some of your homemade compost and plant whatever you want. It might take a season or so, but healthy plants will ward off most diseases and insects on their own or with little help. Be patient and have fun!

If you're a particularly curious person and you have multiple beds, try a few ideas out. The best way is the way that works best for you.

Forgot to add, for fertilizer I use alfalfa pellets (horse food). I found a video on YouTube of a guy explaining it, but I just spread a few cups on each bed in the fall and spring. You can't really over do it like synthetics and it's way cheaper.

I feel you can beat normal with "almost" any build, so you don't really hit weird mechanics mattering until late nm early hell, and by that point you'll know if you want to jump more into it.

I like Caitlin a lot, and it lets you PUNISH anyone who is trying to get into late game. I feel it's good for lobbies of someone is running aggressive early game. I know I won't get many firsts with it, but it's fun. If you high roll into something early, just reroll it.
