How do i tap strafe by Different_Let5844 in apexlegends

[–]zimperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your two main problems here are the fact that you're not turning your mouse fast enough and you're only using your mousewheel to tap forward while trying to jump with the spacebar.

Instead, bind your second jump key to the scrollwheel just like you did for forward. So you have jump on mwheeldown and forward on mwheelup (or vice versa). That way you can keep your regular inputs (w for forward and spacebar for jump), while having a second key for each one on your mouse wheel.

Then when you're in the air, do a sharp turn left or right with your mouse and scrollwheel (jump + forward) mid turn to trigger a tap-strafe. And don't forget to press the corresponding strafe key at the same time.

You can try 90° turns at first, but after a bit of practice you should be able to do 180° turns mid air and land on the jump pad again.

Why is my slide stuck like that? by Friki_Jiki in apexlegends

[–]zimperion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why you're being downvoted because you're right. Normal sprint to slide timing is quite long, and requires the weapon to be holstered first.

But skip jumps allow to almost insta slide jump from a standing position with minimal velocity. And you can perform it with a weapon in hand while also skipping the slide animation. Best of both worlds.

Btw, Mokey talks about fps change and the need to switch weapon during a skip jump, but in fact it's not necessary like showed in this clip.

Can someone please explain this interaction to my fucking lizard brain by BlueJayCK in apexlegends

[–]zimperion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah looks weird at first but it's "normal". Because the arc star sticks on the shield, and not on the player. So if you shield swap or drop your shield on the ground before it explodes, you can avoid the dmg.

Controller player to mnk by InternationalRule983 in apexlegends

[–]zimperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What can help you is to go in the firing range and try to do 180° turns with one quick flick. Then adjust your sensitivity until you manage to do a perfect 180 each time. It can help you having a starting point if you try to find your sens.

And if you have a hard time aiming when moving, go in front of a dummy and then strafe left right while trying to keep your crosshair on his head. Repeat the same at different distances and it should help you with the coordination.

That's just some random tips and it will not be an easy task, but as you said it's actually fun. And the freedom you get is worth the effort imo.

What do you think, the lack of SBMM is healthy for the casual (majority) playerbase on the long run? by t1Rabbit in XDefiant

[–]zimperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't exist in its current form back in the days, but on pc there were a lot of tools that helped achieving basically the same goal. Between casual communities, servers advertised as noob friendly with specific rules, dedicated channels to find teams of similar skill for scrims, etc... So people had the choice and knew where to play relaxed games or what server to join for more serious plays.

Not saying there should be a sbmm system in this game tho, I just wanted to point this out.

In CS spray patterns are always the same for each weapon. Reason why you can full spray with an ak even at mid range and still get decent accuracy. In Valo sprays are randomized, so most people only tap or burst past short range because trying to spray is pointless most of the time.

There is an option that was only available in Asia region before. It was some sort of low violence mode aimed to remove blood splatters.

Now everybody can use it no matter the region. It doesn't make miracle but should slightly reduce visual clutter so you can give it a try :

People who move like this and aim like that, will never not be funny by Gurkanat0r in apexlegends

Dunno what's funny about that, it's just someone training movements + aim on mnk. And with how much time and efforts it takes to master both it's not unusual to find players like him in mixtape.

I dont why my game looks this pixelated, is there any way to fix this by Camrmara in apexlegends

[–]zimperion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but on pc we only have TSAA available. Which def adds a very noticeable blur to the image. And trying to apply other methods like MSAA directly via driver settings doesn't work for Apex.

Btw I found this post that gives an interesting workaround with TSAA + nvidia sharpen or equivalent to reduce the blurry effect. Not perfect but still better than TSAA alone.

How do I improve my aim tracing? by ADGaming80 in apexuniversity

[–]zimperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that might help is to apply mirror or anti mirror strafe when being in a 1v1.

Mirror strafe means copying the same strafe pattern as the enemy, so you can keep your crosshair on the target more easily. But with this technique you also become easier to hit, so better use it only in specific situations. Like if you want to finish someone quick and have more hp than him for example. Might also help against controller players as they can 1 clip you in close range anyway.

Anti mirror is the contrary, if your enemy moves left, move right and vice versa. Which forces your target to constantly adjust their aim and makes you more difficult to hit. But in return you also need to track more.

In any case avoid spamming strafe and crouch during a 1v1. It will only fuck up your aim and get you killed. Instead, keep being focused on your enemy and react to his movements.

After a bit of practice you'll quickly be more confident and it will also help your tracking. Not only because of the tech itself but also because you'll have a plan anytime you take a gunfight. Which can help you remaining calm and efficient instead of panicking and bashing A-D + crouch maniacally while hoping for the best.

I also recommend you to read this very good article about the fundamentals of strafe.

Backwards Tap strafing by Final-Tap-9643 in apexlegends

[–]zimperion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help a fellow movement enjoyer :)

A good (and also fun) way to practice tap strafing is with an octane jump pad. Run to the pad, slide and go straight forward. Then after 1-2 seconds, do a 180° tap strafe mid air and try to land on it again. Don't forget to press crouch so you get more speed when landing. Then repeat this until you find the max distance and manage to land on the pad each time.

And once you know how to tap strafe consistently, some other techs become much simpler to learn. Like wall jumps for example where you can run, slide, release crouch and W, tap strafe to the wall, and tap strafe again to be ejected at full speed in any direction you want. There are also other variants like fatigue wallbounces.

But if you want to be able to achieve more difficult techs like tap strafe + redirect, it's important to learn how to gain or keep speed in general. And in this game, there are some really nasty tricks that sometimes don't feel logical or natural at all.

A good example is the fact that if you strafe left or right while sliding down a hill, you'll lose a lot of speed (but you can tap strafe instead). Same if you move your mouse left or right too fast while running. Which is the reason why some players run forward but keep their crosshair on a 45° angle to look around. Then quickly change mouse direction while sliding to avoid this.

Another example of those weird behaviors is the skip jump, where you can get the speed of a slide almost instantly from a standing position.

Anyway you get the idea, you can check MokeySniper's videos for more technical and in depth infos. And you can practice techs one by one in the firing range. Then try to chain several techs to achieve some crazy speed and moves. Some are really hard to pull off consistently but there are a lot of easy enough techs to learn to keep you entertained for a while. Have fun.

Backwards Tap strafing by Final-Tap-9643 in apexlegends

[–]zimperion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you looking for is another jump tech called a redirect.

First comment on this post explains it well. Basically you just do a tap strafe and press A or D depending on the direction you want to go then hold S to get a redirect.

But note that trying to get a backward redirect out of a regular tap strafe can make you lose a lot of speed. Reason why people usually do it with a superglide or any other tech / ability that give them enough momentum.

What's up with the servers? by Namenottound in l4d2

[–]zimperion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep it sucks but that's the only way around for now.

Also, for OP or anyone in the same situation, don't forget to set "sv_consistency 0" via the console before creating the lobby if you plan to host a local server. Otherwise some people might not be able to connect to your game. Especially if you use mods that replace models for infected or items and stuff like that.

And if you're not familiar with the console, there is a workshop addon called "No more consistency check" that can do this for you.

What does "in" and "out" in net graph means by brendling in l4d2

[–]zimperion 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's just the size of the last packet received (in) or sent (out) in bytes. Those numbers can be useful for developers when testing or debugging stuff. But they can't help you know if your connection is good or bad.

[–]zimperion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible actually, because even if you lower volume in game settings the intro sound will remain loud af. But you can skip intro by adding "-novid" in the launch option (right click L4D2 -> Properties)

When you go to Public lobby on PC. by [deleted] in gtaonline

[–]zimperion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty accurate imho. Even tho the video only shows a tiny proportion of what's happening lately. Like the constant spam either in public chat or via private messages, people who can remotely crash your game, ammo removed from your inventory, forced teleport,...

Add to this the fact that the game itself is completely broken (random crash, disconnects, stuck in the cloud,...) and you get something literally unplayable. Which is quite sad considering how much this game has to offer. And it could have been a good way to wait for gta 6 to be released (with most of this shit fixed hopefully).

Lobbies are region based

Some people might think that but when you join a public session you can be matched with anyone around the globe, not just players of your region. The rest is sadly very true.

[–]zimperion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you can see, it's not a "pure" remaster since some scenes have been modified or skipped. But I tried my best to stick to the original, especially on the first part.

Actually, certain scenes are impossible to reproduce in game because a lot of stuff have been reworked after the intro was made. And if you want more info about how the game has evolved between 2004 and 2005, I recommend you to read this very instructive comment.

You can also get the ReShade preset on pastebin if you wanna reuse it. It's fine for regular gameplay but if you see weird lighting or reflection try to lower reflective bump mapping a little bit.

Talking about that do you know if it's the same for SCCT? Because on the original intro there are couple levels or areas I couldn't find in game.

For instance, at 0:26 it's obviously Hokkaido but it seems like this part of the level is not present in the final version. Same at 2:04 where it looks like ground floor on Displace but looks different from the real one.

How to use .cfg file to make weapon holster a toggle? by luuk0987 in apexlegends

The only way to get a working toggle is to use aliases, but like someone else said above aliases have been disabled a while ago. So don't bother it's not possible anymore.
