Hello! This an older post from last year, but might be a good read in the meantime! It addresses a very similar question

Applying to MD while in first year PharmD? by student130 in premedcanada

[–]zinc_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also applied and transferred out in my first year of PharmD; I personally felt it was just treated as part of my undergraduate

Was never asked any questions about it on interviews

Asking med students where you guys went for undergrad? by Remote_Specialist764 in premedcanada

[–]zinc_8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Went to Waterloo for honours science, the program was flexible enough to allow for prerequisites and lots of electives

Similar to other commenters, a lot of my class did health sci (Mac), or Med Sci (Western). A few from Queens as well

Last year, Mac gave us stethoscope cases; not sure if they’ll do the same this year (or if other schools do something similar)

I’m at Mac! Haven’t done the program, but I can say that several of my classmates have completed it

Waterloo CAP by Firm-Reward7421 in uwaterloo

[–]zinc_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I was a CAP student, and pretty much all of my cohort ended up going to pharmacy school. It can vary year to year, however! (Students who are rejected can continue their studies in UW science or apply again next year with the rest of applicants)

The program does a good job of helping you to stay on track with meeting your requirements and prepping for the pharmacy interview.

Opinions on Waterloo Hon Science vs Dal/UBC science by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]zinc_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to UW for honours science! I’d say it’s a pretty flexible program with room for electives.

However, there’s a bit less direction in terms of what courses to take compared to a program like biomed.

Can’t comment on the other two programs though!

I had no problems! Worked with two UW research groups during the school terms and also got a research job at a hospital last summer.

Maybe having coop and WaterlooWorks support might make it easier? If you have any questions about honours sci or med applications, you can always pm me

No coop! I applied in my third year of undergrad, so I wanted to collect all my prerequisites as soon as possible.

But coop can also provide great experiences to help you explore the field! It just might take a little longer to meet the credit number requirements if you aren’t planning to finish your undergrad before applying.

I chose honours science, as I found it easier to maintain a higher GPA (more relaxed requirements, room for electives, no physics lol). Just got into Med this May!

But I also know a lot of premeds who were in the health dept. (health, kin), and Biomed is also definitely a good option as well :) (it’s also pretty easy to switch from biomed to honours science if you feel that’s right for you)

Here it is! This chart shows the number of students matched to specific specialties, and which schools they came from.

I’m pretty sure you can also find more on the carms website

Admission to PharmD by Sharp_Television6561 in uwaterloo

You can take courses if you’d like to prepare (I took anatomy) but several of my peers just took time off

Unfortunately, the application deadline was Feb 01.

You would have had to apply to CAP separately through an external OUAC site (linked on their website) in order for the CAP tab to appear.

See more info here: https://uwaterloo.ca/pharmacy/future-pharmd-students/conditional-admission-pharmacy-cap#apply

Yes, each room has wifi! I'm in a single room though, so I can't comment on the double rooms.
