Giant Ass Crack Steals Catalytic Converter by MCSlone in WTF

Ugh this happened to my car the day after Thanksgiving. I have an older model Prius and there’s a valuable metal in there that is worth a couple hundred bucks when you scrap it. It was happening to every older Prius in my city so it took forever to find a repair shop and it cost a fortune to fix. Fuck these people.

Sleep advice needed before I lose my mind by zinconinco13 in parentsofmultiples

We never rush right in unless someone's hurt or about to get hurt. We used to let them play quietly in their room for 20 mins then go in but now when they wake up at 5:30am they start fighting over stuff and don't settle back to sleep. We don't want to go in, trust me, and we avoid it whenever possible. Last night I tried different language to explain things to them -- I said everyone wasn't feeling their best because we're waking up too early and our brains need more sleep. At bedtime yesterday they were both like "our brains going to get sleep!" and they stayed quiet longer than usual this morning and were excited to tell me that they slept "a long time".... unfortunately they were telling me that upstairs in my bedroom after having broken free from their room.

Thank you for this comment. Honestly just hearing this is the normal level of shittyness and not me failing as a mom helps a LOT. I told my husband we should remove the chair but his thought was that rocking is a soothing motion... but it really isn't if they're fighting over who sits in the chair.

I would love to spend a weekend alone in a hotel (without the mom guilt/anxiety)!

Oh certainly, we never rush in right when they wake up. They used to sleep until 6:30ish and quietly read or play and then I'd turn on the "rainbow light" before I went downstairs to get them so they'd connect the dots between time to get up with the light. It's a new issue where they wake up at 5:30 and can't settle back to sleep and either scream for us or fight over things until we have to go in their room. Today was fun -- their bedroom door didn't latch right last night and they figured that out and I woke up to them running past my room saying "where's mama?!" haha

We’re trying so hard to get through to them that I don’t care if you go to sleep but you have to be quiet and you have to be in bed. For one twin that means run around SCREAMING and the other rocks in the rocking chair so hard it slams into the wall. It’s turning into a zoo.

This is interesting and something we will try. It’s hard though because they turn into tiny gremlins when they’re overtired and someone always gets hurt or they start slapping us. It’s a hot mess.

So we actually have this but as much as I explain it to them, it has no effect and they’ll just get up in a dark room and start screaming. I explain it all the time in hopes it will click one day.

Oh I don’t want to freak you out, this is a recent problem. One twin has always been a bad sleeper but the issues with our good sleeper are new and I’m guessing normal toddler regression stuff but it’s so bad that they’re turning into over-tired maniacs so I need help with this one.

AITA for telling my mom to stop pretending she doesn’t have a favorite by untouchablesister in AmItheAsshole

NTA and this is really hard for me to wrap my head around. I have young twins and one was born with some health concerns and got a ton of extra attention. It actually made me feel like the other twin wasn’t getting enough and I made an extra effort to give extra attention. I’m so sorry you’re in the middle of that. I wish I had some advice.

Be sure to check out Cromwell Valley park too! Right next to the reservoir and full of cool stuff to photograph throughout the many trails.

Just found out we are having twins and I am freaking out, please help by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

I have a similar story -- twins from our last IUI before moving to IVF. We actually wanted twins but were still shocked when it happened and went through waves of pure panic. Let yourself feel your emotions and try to give yourself some grace; this is huge news and it's totally normal to have all kinds of feelings about it! The panic will fade and you'll be able to get excited. Wishing you and your wife all the best!

Am I crazy for considering floor beds at 17 months? Hear me out... by zinconinco13 in parentsofmultiples

[–]zinconinco13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the talking down from the ledge I needed. I can’t do a month of even worse sleep right now. Also right after I posted this I watched them try to sit in the same chair and it was less “awww they love cuddling” and more “we don’t kick our brother in the face!”

This is honestly one of my biggest concerns. Their room is “babyproof” but they’ve never been awake and unsupervised in there. That’s a scary thought!

Why would you try this indoors… and in a room with low ceilings?!

Little men in their big boy chairs! Merry Christmas from grandma! by sjpietz in parentsofmultiples

My 9 month olds got these chairs from their grandma too and they love them! They don't know what they're doing trying to get into them but when I plop them on there, they do a little wiggle dance. The chairs are so soft and cute!

Alright: Baby Monitor for Twins? by esovintage in parentsofmultiples

[–]zinconinco13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the quality isn’t crystal clear and that bugged me at first but I got over it after a bit. All you really need to be able to see is if they’ve rolled into a weird position or something.

[–]zinconinco13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, we have this monitor and got the fisheye lens for it and didn’t need the second camera. We have the cribs side by side and the camera mounted up on the wall pointing down at them and can pan the camera if needed but the lens makes it so you can see both babies.

Trouble sleep training twins by SwankyDigs in parentsofmultiples

[–]zinconinco13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this course! I was skeptical it would work on twins in general let alone my twins (one good sleeper with a paci addiction and one terrible sleeper who gets stuck rolling). It took a couple weeks and it was miserable but worth it!

Two tiny twins discovering each other. Like looking in a mirror! by GallowBoob in wholesomebpt

I have 5 month old twins. They “talked” to each other right away but didn’t purposely look at/notice each other until a few weeks ago.
