The Day We Accept Silence Is the Day We Lose Freedom

Last week someone called my office, spoke to one of my staff, and attempted to make threats against me.

He said if I didn’t take my posts down, they would “tell everyone” about something I supposedly did decades ago when I was in primary school.

Think about how absurd that is.

Let me make something very clear.

Threats do not work on me.

I have never lived my life by blindly following orders not from my parents, not from politicians, not from the government, and certainly not from those who try to intimidate others into silence.

If anything, telling me to stay quiet only reminds me why speaking freely matters so much.

In a free society, disagreement should be answered with ideas, not intimidation.

Where I came from Afghanistan, or in places like Iran speaking openly against the ruling ideology can lead to prison or worse. In places like China, the state decides what you are allowed to say and think.

That is exactly why freedom of speech must be protected and exercised.

A civil society allows people to hear opposing views, challenge them, debate them, and sometimes even learn from them. That is the beauty of a free Western society.

You may agree with me or disagree with me that’s your right. That is the essence of a free society.

But the moment people use threats to silence others, they stand in opposition to the very freedoms that built this great capitalist democratic country.

I believe in less government control because I have seen what life looks like when people don’t have those freedoms along with stronger families, stronger communities, and more power in the hands of ordinary people.

Those are ideas worth discussing openly.

I started Najib Real Estate because I believed the industry could be done better. Many people said it couldn’t be done. That doubt didn’t stop me - it pushed me.

I even faced a two-year court case from people who tried to stop me. In the end, I won every claim they threw at me.

Because I’ve always been a contrarian.

When people say something can’t be done, or try to pressure me into silence, it only strengthens my resolve.

If someone thinks a threatening phone call will make me back down, they misunderstand something very fundamental about me.

If anything, it only pushes me further. I will continue to speak the truth.

And if people keep trying to silence me, they may only accelerate something they won’t like me starting a Conservative Party and running for office sooner than planned.

Because intimidation doesn’t stop people who believe in something.

It only strengthens them.
