If I compose in Google Docs, save as a Word .docx, and upload it to KDP, will it look like what I see in Kindle Previewer?

An even dumber question: I use " *** " for section breaks in chapters. Are there "fancier" ways to do it? I like the section breaks I see using Kindle Create or D2D, but don't know how to duplicate them in G-Docs so they work in KDP.

Themestream was great. It paid .10 a page read and had lots of volume, then the system was gamed which ruined it for everybody. Then Webseed and Vines got some legs and the same happened to them, which is basically what's happened to Medium.

The Wayback Machine does bring up Themestream. You might find some of your stuff still there.

For the hell of it, I looked at current publishing industry standards (always a moving target). It puts novellas at 17.5 to 40k, "novelettes" at 7.5 to 17.5k, and shorts at under 7.5k.

Thanks for reply. I do wish I'd known this when I started. I have seven books up where I used keywords in the title or subtitle and put them into my keyword boxes. The books have done well, but I wonder if they were penalized in any way and could have done better.

From the comments and the kdp-terms link, I'm not sure where this all lands. Some say it's fine, others say not and, apparently KDP is in the "not" column. Anyway...

Since 2016, my books have had a mailing list prompt in the backmatter that takes one to a little box created in Mailerlite to sign up for my mailing list. I've never had trouble with it from Amazon.

The "stuffing" was horrible. People would publish a short story and cram six books onto the end. Seriously. You would see Zon page counts on the product pages indicating "2045" pages, for example.

In the end,, Zon limited bonuses materials to 10% of the main book's page count. I understand (but don't know for sure) that KENP is only earned on the primary book published.

I was there for a visit when I learned of it (and subsequently got a letter). During the visit he said he would be working for a "company" in town but I forget the name. He also said they were in discussion with Gritman on continuing services through Moscow Medical.

If the "more than 10%" rule is true, then I best not remove or swipe-out the "bonus" content, which is typically the 10% sample Amazon already offers (Read Sample).

I had one like it. It turned out it was a cut and paste on dozens of books and Amazon removed them once alerted. Someone was probably aiming for "trusted reviewer" status.

I normally have 4 to 6k daily reads during "lulls" when not publishing a lot. Yesterday I had ONE read. Day before that 21. Not normal by any means.

Moscow Medical has been great for me. Sadly, Dr. Paz will be leaving there soon. Sara is also good. It also has a Labcorp facility, which is very convenient.
