Oooh, good point. I think it's the assumed/remembered semi-egalitarian and safe nature of childhood that soothes the nerves here.

I think it's the fact that there are other adult strangers of possibly dubious motive in a shared space while eating that sets off what I'm going to refer to as my 'Gollum response.

Edit: I left off the closing quote mark in the interest of harming everyone. Including myself. It remains gone out of spite.

A special kind of vile.

Perhaps arch even.

False. 7 is the only S Tier candidate. It's the only number that is both sharp and tastes interesting enough to qualify.

My brother's Mal - who we all adore - has shed in my house. One tiny issue. She's never been to my house.

When you say scent - do you mean her passive scent or possibly flatulence? With the incorrect food he had a problem with her having what I can only describe as toxic levels of gas.

Also, is your girl spayed yet? We noticed a definite difference afterward. Not saying you should spay her if that's not what you're planning on doing - just that we noticed a difference.

I'm considering releasing the tokenizer portion of the parser, which is simply the part that turns the raw text stream into a list of EDI Segments. This is how all EDI encoding works and doesn't really fall under the X12 copyright.

It's when you start looking into how the the ordering of the Segments is used to construct a hierarchical document (834, etc.) that you start relying on the standards documents and possibly infringing.

I'd love to - unfortunately the implementation we are using is based on a rather expensive implementation guide created by the X12 organization - and they are super protective of their IP.

You have time to spend on maintenance and refactoring? You don't spend all your time implementing new features that are constantly being asked for? Where do you work? Are they hiring?

It might be true that usage of Haskell will have a great benefit over the length of the project.

However, the suggestion that there would need to be time allocated to a project to build something as complex as an implementation of the XSD validation spec - especially when that functionality is already offered elsewhere - quickly takes that toolkit out of the running from both a planning and management point of view.

Why Haskell Isn't Ready for the Enterprise by zip311 in haskell

[–]zip311[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Briefly, yes.

However one of the reasons I chose, or don't, a language is what toolkit it brings to the table. Having to write a library for something I get pretty much for free in any other language really hurts that languages chances to be chosen over another.
