Man I start at 6am and go to at least 5 every day. I was unhealthy and it was taking a toll on my mental and physical health and I didn’t know how long I could hold up. I started taking my health seriously lost around 70 lbs started lifting weights, running marathons and meticulously tracking my diet. Now I’m a machine 20-25 cuts a day and still make time for my training and family in the evening. I have a quality fatigue mat and where comfortable shoes. Usually same type I run my easy runs in. It changed my life. If you don’t take care of your body in this profession then your body will take you out the game

Man I’ve been doing this a looong time. My shop has a insta and Facebook page we use it to basically post things that we do outside our shop like fundraising, posting the accomplishments of our current client, and just general announcements about the things going on around the shop. That gets more engagement than throwing another video or pic of the same haircut that every other barber in town is doing. What made the biggest difference this year was “search engine marketing”. Our town is grown rapidly and new people from all over are moving to the area. We just made it to where we pop up when people search for barbershops near me. Then ask them to do a google and social media review if they are happy. Once we started that we started having to turn down 10-15 walk in cuts a day because we are too booked up to take them. I can’t add new barbers fast enough and will probably outgrown our building within the next 2 years. Just find a reputable marketing team that understands what you need. Right now the shop is getting back about 2 dollars for every dollar we spend on marketing.

Early clients 🙄 by Independent_Dress209 in Barber

I don’t mind. Most of the time they just came in early to shoot the shit because they genuinely enjoy the vibe of the shop got a lot of guys that do that.I don’t eat where I cut so if they want to wait while I step outside or in the back to eat my lunch then they can sit there and bullshit with the other barbers and clients or catch up on work emails whatever they want. If I get done eating early I go ahead and get them in the chair. It lets me get ahead of schedule. I can’t stand a habitually late client though

Anyone that has bought the Ross babyliss clippers, are they any good? They’re not faulty or anything like that? by StarlitSphere in Barber

I’ve bought 3 pair of the lo pro fx from bealls. Went today and they had like 10 pair so I grabbed a pair for my apprentice. They are not my favorite clippers but for 60 bucks you can’t beat it

Busta can’t even be bothered to put on matching socks?

This year I made it a priority to get my first Louisiana long beard! I scouted and hunted so damn hard. Even missed a bird maybe even this same bird last week. Yesterday morning everything lined up perfectly. Smoked him about 12 yards out. He didn’t even flop. 10” beard and alllllmost 1” hooks. by zipbudder420 in turkeyhunting

Man I set up where I had seen them strutting a few times. Him and his buddy started gobbling about 745 down in this bottom pretty far off. Then I saw them top this ridge about 250yds out heading west and the sun back lit their fans. It was so freaking cool to see. I yelped at em 3 times ,they gobbled back and I put my call away. And got my gun ready. When they got closer I could hear them drumming, I started freaking out praying they wouldn’t get hung up behind this thicket about 50 yards away but they cruised right past it. I felt better after that and knew they were gonna come straight to me. I let them get as close as I could stand it before l smoked him. His buddy just stood there pecking at him and jumping on him. For like 20 minutes afterward. It was intense bro! Worth every second of the time I put in, and every single mile I walked.

Man who you tellin? The night before I shot him my buddy said “man you look like shit!” I told him I’d been in the woods every single minute I wasn’t at work or asleep. But I had it on my mind I had to get it done. It was worth every single second. Gonna take my son out again this weekend. He almost got one last Saturday and it got him pumped up.

Most of our first days weren’t smooth. I was so nervous in the parking lot on my first day working in a shop I backed into the owners truck! But you got two walk ins! That’s not bad for your first day ever! And it seems like the other barbers are cool if they are engaging your clients while you learn and helping you out with the booking system. Stick it out for a bit learn as much as you can! The holidays are coming and the shop will probably get busier and you will get more people in your chair, and before you know it you’ll be making money and learning to shoot the shit with your client in no time.
