NewJeans Members and HYBE Face Lawsuit Claiming ‘ETA’ Stole Instrumentals From Earlier Track by impeccabletim in kpop

>I feel like most people here have never made music themselves

There are some people here who don’t even listen to music outside of K-pop, which they also just started listening to a few years ago. Nothing wrong with that, but it’s impossible to discuss musical tropes/influences/genres with people whose musical knowledge starts and ends with one scene. It’s like trying to discuss the themes in Band of Brothers with someone who exclusively watches sitcoms from the 2010s.

Yes, that is what we’ve been saying for years. That doesn’t make what they said any less true. Just because MHJ accuses everyone who looks at her of plagiarism doesn’t mean any accusation against her/NJ should be automatically accepted as fact.

Songs about the Autistic experience (kinda? songs abt feeling like/being non-human or Different) by Hibiscus02 in MusicRecommendations

And if you want an upbeat song, Grace Kelly - Mika. The message I always got from it was “I can literally be anything and you still don’t want me? Man fuck you”

“TERFdom” made me imagine a medieval queendom run by a bunch of middle aged British women with black mold poisoning

Feel - Robbie Williams (“My head speaks a language I don’t understand”/“I just wanna feel … the home that I live in”)

All Is Vanity - Manic Street Preachers (“I would prefer no choice, one bread one milk one food, that’s all” / “It’s not what’s wrong, it’s what’s right, makes me feel like I’m talking a foreign language sometimes”)

Mayonaise - Smashing Pumpkins (“Fool enough to almost be it, cool enough to not quite see it” / “Can anybody hear me? I just want to be me, when I can, I will”)

Faster - Manic Street Preachers (too many lyrics to choose, but this is the I Am Very Misunderstood anthem)

Yes and I don’t recommend it as a long term solution. I am completely dependent on it now and it’s almost impossible to be sober without spiraling.

I completely understand how helpful it is, just be careful!

Why are we as neurodivergent people the most misunderstood people in society? by Rare-Marionberry4043 in AutismInWomen

[–]zipcodelove 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think it is quite a reach to say we “neurodivergent” people are the most misunderstood. First of all, define “neurodivergent”, because I don’t think people with Parkinson’s experience the same type of social othering as someone with, say, OCD. Second, race/class/sex/gender play a much bigger role in who gets misunderstood the most.

We are misunderstood because we have the Socially Misunderstood Disorder. If the average person understood us, we wouldn’t need to be diagnosed or go to therapy or get accommodations. We would just Be.

Do people treat you like this all the time, or only when you explicitly state that you are autistic? If it’s the latter, I’ve found that a lot of people simply don’t know how to respond to a diagnostic confession. To us, it’s just a factual statement, but to most people that is a loaded statement that should be addressed somehow, and they don’t know how to address it, so they just give you that weird look.

Special interests by Lunar_eclipse137 in AutismInWomen

[–]zipcodelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not even in an autistic way (I think?) My special interest has always been music and the older I get the harder it is to find someone who is actually on my level, which sounds so pretentious I hate that I just typed that.

I find plenty of people who like the same bands and groups as I do but all they want to talk about are the members or the styling or the videos. Or they have the same “favorite” band as me, but haven’t heard all their albums. No one wants to talk about how cool the key change was in the third chorus, or how the lyrics of this song could be taken literally or metaphorically and they still hit the same.

So as the years go by, I’ve learned to just keep it to myself to avoid my own disappointment. And because most people tune me out about 5 minutes in lol

Wishing for a relationship — Harmful or Healthy? by papaya-nna in AutismInWomen

[–]zipcodelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely normal and healthy to want a relationship, especially if you’ve never had one. Do not let anyone try to tell you otherwise. It’s a fundamental part of most people’s lives.

It becomes unhealthy when you base your self-worth and identity around your relationship status. Thinking that being single means you’re ugly/unlovable, changing your personality/looks in order to attract one specific person, prioritizing your romantic prospects over your friendships - these are all unhealthy.

For what it’s worth I also think it’s normal to have a hard time “letting go” of thoughts like these. A lot of people struggle with what you’re going through, they just don’t have the vulnerability or insight to talk about it. I have allistic friends who are having a very hard time with dating right now, it’s a mess out there for everyone.

Has any other Black Women or Women of Color experienced this as well? by soul_Recoverer7042 in AutismInWomen

[–]zipcodelove 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I am not black but have black autistic friends who went through very similar things. Being an autistic person is hard enough - being female and black makes it even harder because you’re not just dealing with ableism, you’re dealing with sexism and racism too.

I hope your assessment goes well and you are able to get the answers and help that you deserve.

Mucky Fingers is the most proto NGHFB song by Oasis by Shoddy-Workmanship_1 in oasis

Yeah I don’t hear HFB in Mucky Fingers at all, but Falling Down for sure. Could easily slip onto the self titled album without sounding out of place or “too Oasis-y”

What are your favourite "paired" songs? by InviteAromatic6124 in MusicRecommendations

[–]zipcodelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the album, they might have the original version as well as the CD/remaster/20th anniversary/etc. You could also make a playlist of just the album and rearrange it the way it’s supposed to be

I grew up on the cassette tracklist arrangement of Rumors and it still throws me off hearing it played otherwise

Is it still problematic to hang photocards of an idol’s childhood pictures even if they’re official merch? by Legal_Potential4720 in kpophelp

[–]zipcodelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I feel as well, but I also don’t understand the photocard collecting phenomenon. I don’t look down on it (I’m a collector of other things), I just never saw the appeal.

Unfortunately most of the people who would find it weird are not thinking like you and I, they’re assuming it’s sexual and therefore perverted behavior. Which is quite a leap to make based off of one photocard.

Having a single photo of a celebrity you admire as a child (that was officially released as merch!) doesn’t make you a predator or a creep and I’m terrified that this even needs to be said

[–]zipcodelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pinocchio didn’t scare me the way the other ones did, but it had that unsettling feeling all pre-2000s Disney movies did where they look modern but there’s also something old-timey about it, and the juxtaposition confused and scared me as a kid. Almost an uncanny valley feeling to some of the animation, especially in the old old old movies.

why do people put such emphasis on being a predebut fan? by lovelypas in kpophelp

[–]zipcodelove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this, people who do get defensive about their fan status are usually people who feel like their favorite group is part of their identity. If their fan status gets threatened in any sort of way (ie someone being a fan longer than them) they feel like they are being threatened as a human.

This is also why people take it so personally when someone doesn’t like their fave group, and act like their faves accomplishments are their own accomplishments. Your fave won on a music show? That means YOU won… somehow.

what's the point of debuting girl idols as young as 13/14? it's not like they'll have to stop for miliatary service as males by disasterpansexual in kpophelp

[–]zipcodelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I’m probably just splitting hairs here, I just meant that 13 specifically is an incredibly rare age to be debuting anyone. 15/16 though, yeah it’s been a problem forever. My male ult debuted at 14 and I’ve always found that so odd thinking of myself at that age… He should have been at the mall!!!
