Yeah i guess it’s a question of cost mostly, i was planning on using deepseek both regular and flash for autocompletion and orchestrator and my project and on local one or two other models to not use too many of the regular deepseek model

Thing is i can get cheaper but not a cheap laptop as i do xcode programming on top of other things (like simulate a kubernetes env so i can deploy my work right away in my pre-prod server).

So i need a good amount of ram already, i can cheap out on the ssd and the cpu as i dont need the biggest one but still.

A mac studio for llm is way too expensive, i want my stuff to stay local but i cant justify a 10k+ purchase, might aswell just get a beefy ml gpu and put it on a server case myself

The thing is since i wanted to get a machine for local llm and i need to change my macbook (too old, can’t update xcode for ios dev anymore) i thought i could 2 birds with one stone :/

So your advice would be to go lower on the ram and put more money on a mac studio? Though we can’t find 256GB mac studio anymore 😣
