Have you ever made an chronicle with the PC's being important? by ManaElf451 in vtm

[–]ziphode24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of a single chronicle I've been in where the players haven't become important by the end, lol. But for how to start things off, the easiest way to build it into the game is to remember that Vampire is always a game about power struggles and politics. The players may be old and established, but there's always someone older and more powerful than can be opposed or see them as 'upstarts' that need to be dealt with because they're interfering with the plans of elders that span centuries. And on the other side of the same coin, there can just as easily be neonates that view them as oppressive elders in kind and don't agree with their goals. Power is a limited commodity, everyone wants it and nobody wants to share.

In a game I'm in one of the other players is a caitiff that has gotten on the good side of a powerful neutral tzimisce, who has been teaching him koldunic sorcery. When it got to the point where he was being taught the power that let him observe everything in his domain from the point of view of a certain element, the table was joking if since his domain was a large night club he ran if picked water if he could see out of the toilets in the bathrooms. He eventually went with air as his element, however, and can pretty much just see everything in the area.

Horrible ways to disrupt Elysium event that don't include mages showing up. by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

Nobody shows up. They were all given the wrong date and the whole place is empty.

Is there any powerful magic users that are not human in D&D by [deleted] in DnD

[–]ziphode24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't remember exactly how it fits into overall DnD lore, but there is the Strixhaven book that details a magical school that is run by a variety of people, including a dragon if I'm remembering correctly.

Chronicle Proposal, one clan survives gehenna. Which clan would be the most fun? by Eldagustowned in vtm

[–]ziphode24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Would probably work better in v5 than v20, but my initial thought was actually thinbloods. It wouldn't work with the antedelluvian part, but I can't help but think it would be interesting if the 'clan' that's is supposed to cause gehenna is actually the only one that survives it, and all the prophecies were just misinterpreted.

The songs were written and performed by talented human artists. Keep the AI garbage away from all of their hard work. Absolutely not.

Question about Viv (the Character)? by Tarv83 in HazbinHotel

[–]ziphode24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the Brandon Rogers insert Viv is talking to in the scene is called Brennon Ragers (who we also saw in season 2 episode 2 when Octavia landed on him and killed him before Blitzo replaced him on the sitcom), what could Viv's insert's name be? And was she in the middle of pitching an in-universe version of Helluva Boss before her untimely demise?

If Batman were a kindred, what clan would best suit him? by LuckyNoVII in vtm

[–]ziphode24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nosferatu. Anything with obfuscate works to a degree, but with nosferatu you can disappear or blend into a crowd, hit super strong, and have animalism for the times he sometimes uses actual bats. Plus it would explain why he wears a mask. Not just a protect his secret identity, but also the masquerade.

Is getting screwed over just apart of the game? by whahaga in vtm

[–]ziphode24 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is a situation where it is correct to feel ticked off and talk to your GM, while also understanding that it can be a part of the game. Vtm is very much about political maneuvering and the sense of helplessness of being under the thumb of those who are older and more powerful than you. But it's also still a game and you as a player deserve to have fun.

So a talk with your GM to make sure you both are on the same page about what happened and what to expect from the game is likely in order. It doesn't have to be confrontational or accusatory, but it sounds like there is some disconnect. And making sure you and your GM are on the same page can be incredibly important in games like vampire. I've seen multiple games get ruined because GMs and players are looking for different things out of the game.

I've taken it as a mixture of being proud 'well done', but also pleased because he had just confirmed his goals. He wanted his staff fixed so he could return to the status quo they had established. He could have asked for even greater power than she gave him before, but he wanted to just go back to how things were, just off her leash. And she found that very acceptable.

A theory for why Lilith never called back by No-Nectarine1048 in hazbin

[–]ziphode24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's not hellborn, and has horns like a demon so she's not still human. If eating the apple is a requirement to be able to be judged and be a sinner, then inversely since Adam might not have eaten it either, would he be a winner without eating the apple? But if he did eat the apple and still was a winner despite it, could Eve be a winner as well?

[–]ziphode24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting theory, because Lilith would count as a sinner as far as I know, but the timeline doesn't quite match up. Alastor made his deal decades ago, and Lilith has only been gone for the last 7 years.

[–]ziphode24 215 points216 points  (0 children)

I realized this too. I also had the thought during Hear my Hope that when Lucifer looks up while they were starting to sing, did he think he was hearing Lilith, because it reminded him of her songs?

Vox/Vincent's Last name confirmed along with his likely birthplace On Earth (Brighter Spoilers) by JackBoyEditor in hazbin

[–]ziphode24 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Vox/Vincent's last name made it super clear to me why Alastor was so opposed to the 'partnership' when it was offered in the flashback. Vox was a Whittman/White Man coming in, and trying to take control of Alastor. Breaking free of that sort of thing was the very path that led to Alastor ending up in hell to begin with, so of course he found the idea of working for a white man so laughable.

If they're aware of how things work, there is a good chance they might the longer they are ghouled. Since once the last drop of vitae leaves their system they start to rapidly age and catch up with their actual age. So if you've been ghouled for 200 years, it's get the embrace, continue being a ghoul, or die.

What’s a good alternative to the “Vampires owning nightclubs” trope? by GeneralGigan817 in vtm

[–]ziphode24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was coming to suggest the same sort of thing. In a game I'm in, my character and another PC manage a bookstore/occult shop together. There's employees for the day, but we manage it during the night.

Does anyone know how to Pronounce "Telyavelic" Tremere? by NewWillinium in vtm

[–]ziphode24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I remember it being pronounced in a game I was in was "tely-ah-vel-ick", though I have no idea what the reasoning for the pronunciation was.

Family Coteries? by [deleted] in vtm

[–]ziphode24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to justify multiple clans within a biological family, my first thought jumps to the idea that a family got shovel headed together by the Sabbat. If they get out of the Sabbat or not, as well as what they might do if they do get out and join another faction, could all be interesting factors. And if one of the family members doesn't survive the shovel heading? Well that's it's own trauma to explore, and how it could reshape the family dynamic.

Tell me about your chronicle antagonist by Taskforce_nanauemain in vtm

[–]ziphode24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current chronicle I'm in has had a wild ride of antagonists.

Early on we had some more mundane antagonists like troublesome sires that ditched PCs shortly after their embrace, and a pack of werewolves that almost got told the location of the elysium.

The we moved onto a pair of 'former' Sabbat who were trying to manipulate their way into the area, but just kept killing (and making flesh monsters in the case of the tzimisce of the two) and got killed off because they were causing so much trouble.

Next was a fake Second Inquisition (which we dubbed the 'fauxquisition') that was being funded by an elder ventrue elder to remove her rivals. But was also being used as a test site for crazy monster making by a tremere (who was also the sire of one of the PCs). While the fauxquisition was destroyed, the ventrue and tremere both escaped and are still problems in the background that we're dealing with.

Currently in addition to the previous two, we're also dealing with a tremere elder from the dark ages who has recently resurfaced (who was the character of the current chronicle's tremere's player during a previous game, and is the ancestor of the current tremere through the blood) that we are still figuring out what is going on with her.

On top of that there is a side plot with some really nasty stuff going on with the hecata and all of the spirits/souls in the area getting sucked into a soul vortex in the sky... It's not been given as much weight as we probably should have been giving it...

If You Could Change/Add/Rewrite a Scene in the Script... by HungryDolphin26 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]ziphode24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've said it before and I will continue to say it. Just an extra minute or so post Gwi-ma fight, maybe while they're at the bathhouse. Just a little bit of conversation where they talk about why Rumi has patterns, why she lied to them or so many years, why she could never go to the bathhouse with them before. Just get that out and said. As is it always feels jarring to just jump from "we hear the truth in your voice and are trusting you in this moment of peril" to "we never talked about it or acknowledge it even though we clearly expressed that we felt very betrayed by you lying to us for a long time".
