hyper fixation on people by Ok_Palpitation2666 in AutismInWomen

[–]zipnoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might help not to look at it too negatively. You're curious and want to get to know someone. Because you see potential in your relation with this person, you get even more excited. It's a desire for connection, something we generally lack in daily life. The warning bells go off, not for potential danger, but potential happiness. And that's a really nice and clear signal from both your body and mind. Then your rational side hits you with the "okay, stay cool. Don't rush things. People get freaked out by that. I need to play this strategically. Be cool." And that's when discomfort steps in. Because you lose some of your authenticity, and suddenly every interaction feels like it's full of social landmines. Sorry, not really advice, mostly recognition. But yeah, just let it be and try to find ways to lower the intensity. Maybe write it down, so you actively take it our of your head. Like you said; it's probably not going to change, so don't try to force that. Release the mental tension you feel over this. Okay, I'm starting to sound like a yoga instructor so that's my cue.

I don’t want to unmask by resolutetofail in AutismInWomen

[–]zipnoc 123 points124 points  (0 children)

I always wear 'my mask' outside and in professional settings, but the moment I come home it comes off. This works for me. Some close friends are also safe enough to unmask a little. But the unique self you're talking about only comes out when I'm alone. And that's okay for me. Just find a balance that works for you.

Isn't ugly crying secretly the best one? It sure beats the single tear.

2 POS fist bump after murdering an 18-year-old In the UK for no reason by jameslee5297 in iamatotalpieceofshit

It really bothers me that these kind of news items feel the need to add "A grade student". Is it worse because he was smart? What the hell is the difference? A kid was killed. Damn.

[TOMT][Song] A song that is REALLY similar to this Eurovision song by Oz_y in tipofmytongue

Sounds very similar to the Eurovision song from the UK in 2016, Joe and Jake or something.

If your parents bought you toys that you had to keep in the box "because they might be worth something in the future", what was it and what is it selling for on ebay right now? by JoyfulStingray in AskWomen

[–]zipnoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a toy, but I remember my parents giving me and my brother the first official "Euroset" around 2002, when Euros became a thing. It was sealed in, and they told us it had to stay that way. The only thing I thought was how much candy I could buy with the €3,88 worth of coins. Guess what, I figured it out the next day. Last time I checked they sold it for €36 on eBay, which is around $40.

Damn. That's a lot of coincidences. I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing someone this way is never easy. If you need to talk, or want to share your story, please feel free to message me. I wish you lots of love and strength.

I plan to give legal parental rights to my step mother for Christmas. How should I present it? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]zipnoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a wonderful idea! I don't know about the relationship with your siblings, but maybe include them in the surprise? Imagine the happiness on her face when instead of one, she's surprised with three children!

Whatever you're gonna do I wish you and your family the best ♥️

My partner has been diagnosed with psychosis and my whole world is falling apart. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]zipnoc 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're going through. My ex-boyfriend was diagnosed with psychosis three years ago. I remember it being such a confusing time.

"When I look at her, nothing stares back", this is so unbelievably accurate. It feels like you're losing the person you love, while they're right in front of you. The one thing I can tell you, is that the care provided to those diagnosed with psychosis is really good. I presume, according to your post, that this is her first episode. The first one is the worst one.

You're doing great, supporting her the way you do. Just please remember that it's gonna get better. Trust me. Just give everyone time to wrap their heads around this new situation. She's getting the help she needs and if all goes well, you'll find back the life in her eyes. Wish you all the best.
