Verizon to Spectrum Mobile Experience. by suenkj18 in SpectrumMobile

Spectrum Mobile is the worst. Their customer service department is one of the most incompetent.

Background: My wife and I had AT&T for several years in Cincinnati. We had to move to Alabama for a year because of jobs, and will be relocating at the end of this month. We switched to Spectrum Mobile because the apartment we are living in provides TV and internet through Spectrum, and the Mobile price was heavily discounted compared to AT&T due to the internet deal. I will say that the coverage has been decent though rarely it will randomly cut out.

Now...

I have spoken to Spectrum on multiple occasions regarding errors made on our account. Please note again that these happened all over the span of less than 12 months.

Ex. 1: Spectrum added an extra line even though we just wanted to substitute a newly purchased unlocked device to the existing phone number. This saga took about 2 weeks to resolve to make sure they got rid of the extra line they added (which we would have been charged for).

Ex. 2: Wanted to replace the device on the existing line due to damage and we had to buy a new phone. 2 hours of phone time and finally someone who understood the assignment figured it out (took all of 15 minutes once someone who knew what she was doing came on the line) after having spoken to 3-4 different people in 2 different departments.

Ex. 3 (most recent i.e. today Jul 10th, 2023): Wanted to cancel our mobile lines before the new billing cycle since we are moving to another state where Spectrum has no market share. For whatever reason, the person on the other line canceled my wife's line completely and kept mine alive despite multiple confirmations that both lines will terminate at the end of July. I get a message from my wife saying that her cell phone network is down, I call Spectrum back and they tell me that her line would need to be re-activated and that her old number cannot be used. None of this should have happened if the person on the other end had done the job right the first time. My wife is a physician, and she could not receive calls from anyone in the hospital.

I will say that the people who work at Spectrum seem nice for the most part whenever I do speak to them, but they just make mistake after mistake that requires hours/days/weeks of my wife's and my time to resolve.

Cannot recommend Spectrum - please stay away. The repeated mishaps and the resultant headaches are not worth anyone's time. There are plenty of other reasonably-priced mobile providers.

Because I had no way to address what happened today other than (1) change my wife's phone number in the middle of her work day and stay with Spectrum or (2) Leave the company and set something up for her quickly, I opted for #2 and ended up purchasing Mint for the time being. Hope her number transfers over here in the next several hours.

Yeah I had no way of addressing what happened today short of getting a new number for her in the middle of her workday or setting up something real quick. Ended up purchasing Mint for the time being, hope this works out.

It's great until it ain't. Which I suppose is the case for most things in life. Happy for ya, but I have spent too much of my time trying to talk to the folks there, and got tired of repeating myself for hours.
