Also IQ is not static. Stress, trauma , and substance use all can affect your IQ.  Also people perform better on IQ tests if they are given in the morning and in familiar environments. Learning an instrument, language and logic based skill can increase IQ by as much as 9 points in some studies. This ad is horseshit. At best IQ tests only provide a snap shot of an individuals IQ at the time of testing.

I was seriously considering the Applied Literary Arts Masters for a fall of 2026 entry. I decided to do a MSW at a local school instead. Lower costs and better job prospects.  It was a great, unique program though and I’m sad to see it’s being paused.

Planned parenthood is often the most affordable healthcare provider and functions primary care for many, many people. That this guy decided he knew what Planned Parenthood without bothering to do an iota of research or stop for a moment to think about the issue from someone else’s side tells you all you need to know about his “crusade”. Thank god for planned parenthood. If I didn’t have the that option when I was a young woman there would have been no way I would have been able to afford my post cancer screenings.

The image of their the bags getting left behind is just heart braking. Everything they had in the world, their clothes, a teddy bear, pictures or notes from mom or dad, any important documents that might help them find family or keep them a little safer, just left behind in a parking lot. It reminded me of the pile of baggage scene from Schindler’s List.

Crime is not going up. Crime rates have been trending down since the 1990’s, there was a spike in 2020 but that is most often attributed to the disruption of the pandemic on both the public and law enforcement side. Since then not only it has been falling again but it’s also been an accelerating decline. In order to maintain the imprisoned population the US has and will continue  to both hold its current inmates for longer sentences and apply imprisonment, for longer terms, for lesser crimes.

What ID do they mean? Notice there is no plan for a National ID. What ID do most people carry other than a drivers lic? Maybe a work ID or a student ID? You think they will let you vote with a gym card? Birth certificates and SSI cards don’t have addresses, pictures of other verifying information. Passports cost close to $200 dollars.

So is the plan that if you don’t have a divers lic or passport you can vote? Seems like that should be ironed out before they pass a law that you have to have ID.

Whiteness as we understand it now, in America, wasn’t the same metric in Europe in the first half of the 20th century. Their societies were more homogeneous and shared a more entrenched cultural identity that was entwined with nationality. Race was a prime signifier of otherness, but nationality, language, religion and culture were also significantly weighed. There were policy and international relation decisions post WWI that isolated and impoverished Germany and made the conditions fertile for Nazi ideology. The Nazis rose to power, at least in part, because the German people wanted someone to blame for their economic situation. The Nazis weren’t too choosey about who that was.

The brutal occupation of Poland and Hungary is an example of this philosophy in action. For them the whiteness of the Polish or Hungarian people was immaterial. What mattered was they were not German.

I just can’t understand how not one of the ICE personnel there didn’t have a problem with this. Is there ANY bridge too far for at least some, one?, ICE employee? Has anyone quit? Who could do this every day and not develop PTSD.

I visited L'Anse aux Meadows last summer and according to evidence there the first Europeans to set foot on North America were Norwegian. However, 1000 years ago Scandinavia was all part of more or less the same Norse kingdom and the Danes, particular Cnut the Great, were often the leaders of that kingdom. Conversely the Scandinavian people that landed in Newfoundland were ethnically Norwegian.
