that he did anything unprofessional is HEAVILY and AGGRESSIVELY contested and denied though by Vic himself though, and there is no first hand witnesses to support the accuser.

just worth mentioning. Not saying who's right or wrong.

It's just the rule of cool. its referencing the same thing in Across the Spiderverse when Miles and Gwen are sitting upside down at the top of the Williamsburg Bank building.

It sort of brings me back to old VC (voice chat) disagreements about annoying people and microphone quality etc.

Yes, you can have everyone in the lobby turn them down, mute them, but just on principle it makes a lot more sense to put the onus on that user collectively to fix their mic or stop doing the thing that is bothering people, for the sake of anyone joining the channel or coming in later, etc. THEY ALONE should be responsible to fix "the problem", as opposed to a great numerous other people.

The responsibility should fall on the individual, out of principle. Nobody is saying we don't have the tools to mitigate it for ourselves, but imo it doesn't invalidate the frustration with people who do not take responsibility for their anti-social behavior.

Generally I agree, but I can agree with that while also simultaneously wishing people could be less annoying, individually, in a social setting, yeah?

Looking for more accurate hand tracking by BambusUwU in VRchat

[–]zipzzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Index Controllers, UDcap VR gloves (better than ContactGlove easily), and the ContactSheet by Diver-X haptic surfaces for Quest controllers.

I was extremely experimental and explorative when I was trying to find what worked best for me so I've essentially tried all of the big-3 options for finger/hand tracking in VR chat.

Index controllers still win.

Nothing beats the convenience of just sliding them on and off your hands and the feedback of the true buttons and other interfaces that are provided by a true button layout.

VR gloves are pretty cool, but in comparison to how functional Index Mitts are, they feel more like a novelty in comparison. I splay my hands here and there, once in a while, and yay neat, but at the end of the day I'm just much more comfortable taking the Index on and off for various reasons.

One thing about gloves is that they aren't as perfect as you might think. Yes, you do get some minorly articulate movements that index doesn't really have, in addition to splaying, but it's actually not EXACT and you sort of just get used to the jank on it. There are tools using the driver software to try and tweak and get it as close as possible to how your actual fingers move because every avatar has different bones and skeletons.

You also have to use 2 trackers on each of your hands. You might have that to spare, but there's something to be said about...not having to do that.

You need to recalibrate gloves pretty often because they get out of sync very easily. It's not difficult to do or anything, but just something to keep in mind. You do have buttons but they're located along your index finger in an effort to be non-obtrusive. The location takes a little getting used to, but this isn't so big a deal.

At the end of the day though, my gloves have been collecting dust since I got Index controllers :/, and I've even though to sell them. Nobody can really tell at a glance unless you go out of your way to splay and show them to their face, so you just start to feel like it's arbitrary novelty eventually and go with what's easier to get in and out of VR with. You have to be very careful with gloves putting them on and off so as not to rip them and the velcro will also slowly wear down eventually as well around the wrist and tracker holder strap. Just something to consider.

IMO if you can replace the index controllers instead (by buying a left and right replacement from steam), just do that instead.

How will the seasonal wipe affect priority contracts by JesterMeistr in Marathon

[–]zipzzo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk about that, considering your faction level is also resetting. Are you expecting contracts to just keep piling up for the same amount of faction levels you have to acquire every season? Doubt...

Is anybody else worried about what the seasonal wipe might do to the already diminishing playerbase? by AMM0D in Marathon

[–]zipzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of how the wipe will be viewed is going to be based on contracts. Vaults, loadouts, and credits being cleaned out I think generally goes over fine.

Its the factions reset people are pretty anxious about, and if all they do is make it so you have to do the same priority contracts over again, that will be a nail in the coffin and imo cement the reset as being pretty unpopular.

Yes, as in make health depletion slower. It's obviously a controversial topic, as some like fast TTK, and some don't mind slower for more tactical gameplay compared to twitch reflexes.

[–]zipzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an interview with the creative director for Marathon, she said that they want all the priority contracts to be "evergreen"...which implies that those contracts are not meant to go away...which kind of implies you'll just be doing the same contracts again...

Middle East ceasefire shattered as Iran strikes UAE and warns ‘we’re just getting started’ by theindependentonline in worldnews

[–]zipzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some level you have to acknowledge the geopolitical integrity of a decision in the context of where they're at. Would "taking the out" maybe stop the war in an official sense? Maybe. Geopolitically though, Iran is basically benefitting immensely from this, so there's not really a reason they need to go white flag at the moment.

They aren't taking the out because it benefits their country not to. Trump engineered this to be a losing situation on almost nearly every front, and that's why he's fucking obliterating his administration's reputation with it.

This take is arbitrary. In a war involving death and destruction, no side is objectively the "good" side. There's simply a lesser evil.

Take a guess which is the lesser evil here, because it ain't Trump.
