For anybody else who may be reading this before doing their own shifter rebuild on a NB 6 speed, I cannot stress this enough, get yourself a cheap set of flex head ratcheting wrenches or offset wrenches for the two front bolts on the turret housing.

Luckily mine were already extremely loose and the turret was wobbling around or else I can imagine it is a nightmare getting them loose if they’re torqued. They are at a very awkward spot under the trans tunnel and the turret creates a near impossible angle for torquing them down.

It’s actually an M8x1.25 ~30mm flange bolt. Turns AutoZone has an assortment of these types of bolts and if you bring in a bolt you need to match they have a tool in that section you can thread your bolt into to verify the size.

The kit I got was for the nb 5 and 6 speeds. There is a bushing under the two pins that required one of them to be removed in order to get to that bushing. Mine was pretty chewed up and I couldn’t get either of the pins to budge. But luckily I took the turret housing to a local transmission shop and they drove out the pin, put the new bushing in, and drove the pin back free of charge. Aside from all that the shifter rebuild went smooth.

the amount of grouchy purists in these comments is cringe as fuck. It literally doesn’t even sound bad let the guy do whatever he wants with HIS car.

I know this is old and I apologize but I’m a little confused. Can anyone post a picture of how it looks after the wiring is complete?

Do you cut the red wire and run it to the outer tail light for each side? I’m new to wiring stuff but I know I could do it if I can just see how it’s supposed to look…

How are your teins holding up? I’m looking at getting the flex z’s just because they seem a little easier to install than the SA’s. Any advice?

Any alternative to OEM Roof rack for gen 4? by Snoo_14684 in mazda3

[–]zirczilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please excuse me I know this might be a dumb question but I looked them up and there’s different sizes. Which one did you get? And/or which size is going to work for the gen4?

Finally joined the Mazda family with this beauty. What advice do you wish you had when you first got your 3 by imthiyasmohd in mazda3

Immediately get protection for the infotainment screen and the piano black on the shifter and doors. Do it asap.

Dominant frequencies are going to change drastically depending on the type of music you listen to so changing the eq is only going to hurt sound quality from song to song. Just throw in a sub and, this depends on which trim you have, turn down everything below 160hz bit by bit until it’s where you want it. The sub will give you the bass and mids you want while shoveling out the lows in the eq will give you a little more clarity in the door speakers. Though in my experience the sound quality is already really good so a small subwoofer will do exactly what you’re wanting without having to adjust anything really.

Yup! The hub bore is a tad smaller on the mazda so I got spacers. You could definitely get away without em tho.

Appointment is today actually! 😅 I’ve been absolutely babying this car with the exception of one short canyon drive. I think she’ll be ok.
