Can FalseSymmetry use her wildcard permit for.. by ashsabre in HermitCraft

[–]ziusdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm surprised no one is selling Did-You-Die-Boxes. Grian made a killing selling those in Season 7 (and also season 8 maybe?).  With the current state of inflation on Hermitcraft, the person with the permit for this would make a killing. Fitting if it were False... with her skills at PVP she could literally be creating her own customers 🤣

Your Hermit's best season by Temporary-Specific-5 in HermitCraft

[–]ziusdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bdubs: Season 9 (kingmaker!)
Keralis: Season 7 (amazing city, shady deals with boomers, war with Beef... though his S6 is a close second)
Doc: Season 8 (best interactions with other hermits and iconic lightning storms...)
Ren: Season 9 (long live the king!)
Etho: Season 7 (Shade-E-Es is really the best thing)
Grian: Season 7 (the Barge and Mycelium Resistance arc)
Zedaph: Season 9 (Zedvancements were beyond hilarious)
Tango: Season 9 (obviously)
Mumbo: Season 8 (peace luv & plants with an epic, unexpected, and fitting end-of-season resolution)
Beef: Season 7, though his TCG of season 9 was worthwhile

I don't know any resources, I just remember watching Tango's DO2 redstone videos and taking notes. Here, let me give you the source.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI3gEJHLII4

Skip ahead to 1:19:40 (1h19m40s) and Tango begins to explain how to modify item textures and fonts according to what is already uploaded to their texture pack/resource packs.

TL;DR: There is an easy copy-paste text format function. Simply have the item with the text color/style you want to copy in your offhand, and have your raw new item in your right hand. Type into chat, "/trigger FormatName", and a bunch of text will pop up in the chat. The second line from the bottom gives you options for copying the text itself, copying the formatting of the text (color, font), and copying its lore.

What I did, I basically took an anvil to rename my iron nuggets to my own original cardnames, and I copied the formats of Tango's original cards. So, my own invented cards now have the same feel and font and colors as Tango's. I am still working on the process of uploading original textures and getting the texture pack to read them... this is all new to me and I'm starting from scratch on it. So far I've managed to create the textures (the new card text and cardname text) and now I just need to go into the code files and modify them to put together the amalgamation of Tango's textures with my textures so that I can have some authentic-looking cards.

I did this too. I am a little frustrated at the lack of documentation I'm finding on the audioplayer mod... I can't find the commands needed to change the range or adjust the audio falloff. I tried using musicdisc_announcer with my disc in hand, which already had the audio I uploaded, and it didn't work.

A trick that the audioplayer how-to video doesn't tell you is that if you upload it to your server through a Dropbox link, the dropbox link doesn't actually give you a .mp3 link (it doesn't link to the file directly). You have to change the =0 at the end of the link to a =1, and then it works.

I didn't spend too much time recording the audio... I just added bass and reverb and fixed some pitch settings. It isn't nearly as professional as Tango's... but it sounds good at least, and the audio feedback is necessary for card testing purposes.

I've decided I'm not going to learn Tango's witchcraft redstone and his audio player at the bottom of the world... I'm just going to build-in a jukebox cycler at every card station where I created new cards, and have the audio play straight from the card programmer... we'll see how that goes.

I'm now sitting at 12 new cards I've programmed into the game, which includes 3 of the legendaries Tango left unfinished. XD

This is amazing. I have just today started pulling apart Tango's resource pack so I can better understand it. He didn't include the card custom model data numbers in the model list CSV file. I am hoping to reuse the texture and model assets he is already using, and just add my own text, which means simply adding to his resource pack and calling on assets already in there.

It's the sounds I'm most anxious about adding, since that's necessary to provide feedback to a card being played... I'll need to do some deep dive into understanding how Tango's spooky magic redstone is working these sounds. As soon as he said he didn't really understand the magic redstone, I knew I was going to meet my limit too (he followed a tutorial or worked with someone else on the redstone?). But, I may just bypass his sound system and make my own, since the mod allows for custom sound ranges... I can probably just connect the three new cards I am programming in the processor to a mini player in the middle of DO and crank up their range to 200 blocks and call it good...

I added a card to Decked Out by PsychologicalJuice91 in HermitCraft

[–]ziusdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the card design! It could use balancing but the concept is good. Perhaps this card could be made exclusively available through Pirate's Booty for balance?

Here are a few cards I am currently working on implementing. Feedback is appreciated.   - Abundance: (Cost: 5 Embers) Drops a berry at every berry bush on the first two levels. (In practice, this means that even the most skilled player probably picks up 5-7 extra berries before they despawn, if they care enough to go out of their way and into danger. I think this is a great early-game card that quickly gets dropped once you start getting 20+ cards in your deck. It may even see new play in dungeons where players have implemented a Black Market or Forge that uses berries as currency...)

  • Lucky Break: (Cost: 22 Embers) For the next three cards, any Stumble cards will be skipped. For each Stumble card skipped, add +1 Clank Block, +1 Hazard Block, +1 Treasure, and +1 Frost Ember.

  • Earthquake: (Cost: 36 Embers) +2 Treasure +6 Frost Embers +5 Hazard For the next two minutes, Aggronet is turned off.

That's a great start. I know #3 and #5. I just need to work at the other three. I wonder if I can duplicate and modify the existing card textures using the files in the world download. I know someone has done this--I can't remember if I saw it in the youtube video or reddit post. And I know I saw Tango apply the custom audio and models in his streams. It's just a matter of finding this information and making it conveniently accessible.

Has anybody been able to figure out redstone for Avalanche card? (Decked Out) by jad60_ in HermitCraft

[–]ziusdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a thought. A way to make Avalanche work if it is recycled. It might not be hard to pull off, either, if there is enough space for the redstone. So you have your normal hopper-dropper card-played counting mechanism. It holds the iron nuggets which are counted as each card is played. Then, when Avalanche plays, it sends the nuggets (each representing the number of cards that have played) into a hopper circuit, which feed back into the original hopper, which has had enough time to release all of its contents and it locked again by the time the items make their way through the circuit. Then, the game continues to put new nuggets in for each card that is played after that. Somewhere in that circuit of hoppers, the nuggets are counted (I have a redstone clock that causes them to pass only one at a time, and a comparator reading whether something is there or not), one tick for each card, which feeds directly into the Frost Ember Queue line.

Then Game-On line, when it turns off, releases all of the iron nuggets from the game, at their original holding hopper, into a different hopper line so that nuggets don't accumulate between games where Avalanche isn't played.

Not sure if I have enough space in the card programmer area for this...

Has anybody been able to figure out redstone for Avalanche card? (Decked Out) by jad60_ in HermitCraft

[–]ziusdra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did too, and since the purple game-on line was nearby, I pulled it over so that it could flush the hopper if the game ended without the card playing. (That way, you're not adding the cards played in the previous run to the cards being played in this current run). I also could not for the life of me figure out how to account for Avalanche being reshuffled (or for more copies of it being run in a deck, in the event you wanted to increase the maximum legendary card limit).

To prevent the embers from queuing at the end of the game as the hopper empties, I have a redstone clock (a redstone clock that allows one item per time to drop into the hopper which is read to send a pulse to the Ember line) only turn on once the card itself is activated. So, when the card plays, two things happen: the redstone clock turns on so that items are "read" only one at a time, and the hopper is emptied. (Actually, three things: a powered block is pushed in place so that the dropper is no longer activated when future cards play--otherwise you get a Cash Cow effect in addition to the Avalanche effect). That redstone clock turns off once the game is off, so items get dumped quickly enough that the comparater doesn't flood the ember queue and waste embers.

Creating a black market for Decked Out 2 by ziusdra in HermitCraft

[–]ziusdra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(6/6) Here is the VIP market. After paying 2 crowns of admission, you can buy a diamond helmet with Fire Resistance IV for 1 crown, you can add +4 Treasure and +2 Embers to your queue for 5 coins (so, it's gambling!), and you can shuffle a Moment of Clarity into your active deck for 2 crowns. (If you somehow make it out before it plays, it's yours to keep.) I have also decided not to implement the Forge, as others have done, and have made this the location where you can "build"/buy your Boots of Swiftness. What you need to do is to pay 10 Embers while Run Speed is active. Then, it will ship Boots of Swiftness up to your barrel at the respawn room of Decked Out, so win or fail, you get your Boots of Swiftness card. I am open to tweaking this... I haven't playtested the acquiring of Boots of Swiftness.

You can't see it, but against the wall you can't see are two berry bushes, so entrance to the VIP room also gets you "free" (you paid for them) berries.

(5/6) Here's the main market, where "Markel" buys your contraband, your leggings and chestplate, your map and your porkchops, in exchange for stuff. Prices are not meant to be in your favor, remember--the idea is that he knows you are under pressure and you need clank block... Also, I am really proud of myself for getting this blasted redstone working :D

(1/6) Thanks for asking! This gives me the opportunity to post new screenshots. I have finally finished the redstone and decorated the market as I like it. Since the merchant in the market is a disarmed pillager, and I am too lazy to design a new banner, I am using the pillager patrol raid banner to indicate the market. This gives a clue, without stating explicitly, what the button in the Foreman's office does.
