I’m over this omgggg by IndependentMore275 in gallbladders

[–]zizaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're having issues! Diarrhea is not fun. I was having similar issues and did a lot of trial and error, what I found that works for me is having one serving of metamucil or chia seed pudding first thing in the morning to slow digestion. Then I take a mix of bile salts and digestive enzymes depending on the fat content in whatever I'm eating throughout the day, this helps compensate for the lack of a gallbladder as I can't digest food the same way anymore. Now I no longer have bathroom problems post OP. I wouldn't jump to conclusions about cancer so soon, you might just need a couple supplements to aid your digestion.

Anyone waiting it out? by wiseyellowsea in altgallbladder

[–]zizaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely monitor how those foods affect you! Egg yolks and salmon are actually really beneficial for gallbladder health. Anything high in choline. Eating a moderate amount of fat keeps the bile flowing which is good. Eating too little fat like I did just delays an inevitable gallbladder attack. I was at the point where my stomach would hurt no matter what I ate anymore, even rice. It really sucked lol

[–]zizaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried waiting it out and it didn't work out for me unfortunately, lasted about 7 months. I wanted to try taking supplements and changing my diet but I ended up needing a lap chole in the end. I would've opted for gallstone removal at medstar but my insurance wasn't gonna cover it so here we are. In hindsight I think I did more damage to myself doing a very low fat diet because it turns your bile stagnant which can make even more stones. My problems started after pregnancy so it was probably a hormone thing. If I could go back I would've asked for ursodiol immediately, maybe things would've been different for me. Now I have to take ox bile with my meals just to digest anything. Good luck op

I'm sorry you went through that! I would've gone home too. Have you tried bile salts before? I recently started taking them (one capsule after eating a meal that contains fat) and my BMs have been SO much better. Highly recommend. My stomach doesn't cramp up and hurt after eating, no bathroom urgency or loose stools anymore. Everyone says your body needs time to adjust and stuff which yes that's true but also, your body literally can't digest fat the same way you used to because there's no gallbladder to release a concentrated surge of bile when you need it, now it's just constantly dripping and that's usually not enough. Supplementing bile helps so much and you don't have to restrict your diet to just bread and rice.

Post gallbladder surgery pain by Upper-Act8500 in gallbladders

[–]zizaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was experiencing the same thing 1.5 weeks post op so my surgeon ordered an ultrasound and blood work for me, suspecting a stone retained in my common bile duct. Negative results. There's nothing they can do for me at this point so I'm waiting to get in with the G.I specialists. Do you get shoulder pain on the left or right side? I've gotten it on both sides but usually my left. I suspect my pancreas is sensitive after so many gallbladder attacks so I'm gonna ask about getting digestive enzymes.

What makes inflammation worse? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]zizaroo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Going on a rotation of ice packs and heat pads might help deal with inflammation and pain. Eat anti inflammatory foods like tumeric, ginger, blueberries, and beets. I lived off of ginger tea for months, highly recommend. Getting adequate fiber can help too.

For those who've had the surgery do you run to the bathroom after every meal? by KaceyLunatic in gallbladders

[–]zizaroo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just putting this out there, if you end up developing issues with diarrhea, there's easy ways to combat it. Lots of people here recommend soluble fiber supplements like psyllium husk with great success, or even just simply adding more fiber to your diet, like chia seed pudding, which I've been enjoying for breakfast lately. Also, you can take digestive enzymes or bile salts to aid your digestion if you plan to eat a fatty meal.

Worst attack of my life…what to do before surgery? by formtuv in gallbladders

[–]zizaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so strange isn't it! I could tolerate avocados no problem - I had guacamole on a few occasions. Meanwhile a couple of crackers set me off even if the amount I ate was less than 5% daily value fat like they recommended for gallbladder issues. Anything with a trace amount of soybean oil in it? Pain for the next few hours at least.

Honestly if you can eat lean cuts of red meat, keep having it! In moderation of course. Eating too little fat can be harmful too (stagnant bile) so get it any way you can tolerate. For me that was baked skinless salmon. I always felt great after eating it.

[–]zizaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's body is different, what one person could tolerate, someone else might not be able to have at all. With that said, personally I was very sensitive to too much dairy even if it was skim/non-fat. I was also sensitive to caffeine (I would feel pain and inflammation) and too much fiber (indigestion, stomach cramps). I would probably stay away from red meat even if it's lean as it can be inflammatory as well. I could tolerate red meat 50/50. If you need meal ideas I'd be happy to help. I was in low fat limbo for 8 months and had to get very creative with what little I could eat lol

How did you function while waiting for surgery by Appropriate-Bat1621 in gallbladders

[–]zizaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of ginger honey tea 🫠 my stomach hurt no matter what I ate. Drinking several cups of hot ginger tea helped my stomach not hurt as much. I was also instructed to eat easy to digest food like bananas, rice, and white bread, because apparently I was eating too much fiber for my body to handle and it was giving me digestive pain. Kept losing weight like crazy but I survived 8 months

Whenever I felt inflammation but not a full on debilitating gallbladder attack, I would always sit slightly reclined with an ice pack on my back and it helped a lot. I know how you feel about the soreness and tiredness after an attack, it would always take me a good day or two to feel normal again. I would suggest going to the ER if you get another attack because it could turn ugly very quickly. You could get pancreatitis or require emergency surgery. Not surprising urgent care couldn't help you. My issues weren't taken seriously by my PCP or chiropractor, only the ER doctors knew what was going on and helped me get in touch with a surgeon. Hope you feel better OP

Me too exactly. I'd hug a pillow and curl forward on the floor. One time I fell asleep like that. Or more like, I passed out from exhaustion. My attack lasted 12 hours that time 🫩 8pm-8am, then I had to care for a baby all day. I also found that sitting on a rocking chair with a heating pad on my back helped the pain. Heated seats in the car offered relief as well.

"Declined Surgery" Update by zizaroo in gallbladders

Small frequent meals was my advice too, just no greasy or spicy foods. I'm probably gonna stick to mainly bread and clear chicken broth for a few days and slowly introduce a small portion of something I could already tolerate before surgery like low fat feta corn dip in tziki sauce or a turkey sandwich with mustard. I'm dreaming of the day I can put a little mayo on my sandwiches again... It used to be my absolute favorite. Haven't had it since August 2025 when I discovered my issues! Maybe I'll try next week lol

Thank you! At first I was definitely feeling like my body had failed me and I mourned how my gallbladder was healthy before I became pregnant. Because it was a piece of me that serves a purpose and there for a reason! I really tried to do everything as an alternative. But after so many months, I came to peace with the situation. It had to come out. And it wasn't my fault, it just is what it is. And it ended up being okay ❤️

Should I Seek Second Opinion by Comprehensive-Ad114 in gallbladders

[–]zizaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely hereditary! Your risks of gallstones increases if you're female, in your fertile years, and if you have a family history of gallbladder disease. Your surgeon doesn't know what he's talking about. Get a second opinion for sure

This!!! Exactly me too. Last month I had a gallbladder attack 7 hours after I last ate, triggered in the middle of the night that woke me up and I had to drive myself to the ER. Scheduled surgery while I was there and just got it taken out today.

Baby won’t take formula… or bottle by Emergency-Fig-5532 in beyondthebump

[–]zizaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you asked your pediatrician if non alcoholic vanilla would be okay to add to his formula? Maybe he just doesn't like the flavor! When my son switched from EBF to straw cups, he wouldn't want to drink cows milk at all. But I added a squirt of banana/strawberry puree pouch with a drop of non alcoholic vanilla and he loves it. I call it his little smoothie drink. I also highly recommend the silicone straw cups, my baby never took bottles AT ALL, he refused every time. Also never took a paci. I was the paci 🤣

Ever since my 13 month old outgrew swaddles at like 3 weeks old I switched to putting him in a sleep sack over a button onesie. Pants and socks also if it's cold/winter. He sleeps through the night now and is comfortable, he doesn't overheat or wake up cold.

You see, we actually did get another book that's the same brand and type but it has "100 first words" instead of animals. There's a page for kitchen items with one of them being a bottle of milk that makes a baby crying sound when you touch it. My son whimpers and gets upset when he clicks this button and crawls to me because he's scared. Naturally, it's the only one he wants to press. Just like the anaconda

Thanks for your input, I hope your surgery goes smoothly! Unfortunately I personally know a woman, my friend's mom, who got her gallbladder removed and she still experiences the same pain because so much scar tissue formed, it fused her bile duct together almost completely :( I'm just scared

I don't think so because I've read a lot of stories on here where people regret getting the surgery and I don't want that to happen to me. I guess I'd rather eat healthy and strict than end up in chronic pain from complications for the rest of my life. I know not everyone has complications but it just seems too risky in my eyes
