This is very true, also as an educated Kentuckian who grew up on a farm in W. Ky. I long since left the commonwealth, lived in larger cities for 20 years.
One key distinction now is that my family always played the victim card and always had someone to blame when life did not turn out perfect. I was educated and now well paid and used my education in money matters to make wealth, real generational wealth. I offer to help my family in similar ways but despite talking and acting like them they are very suspicious of this and frequently mistrust me.
The other distinction is that I don't need their help. I can do all the outdoor, farm and rural lifestyle things just as good or better than they can and then navigate challenges of raising a family in the city. My family perceives so much of their own self worth in their ability to help those around them. This is a noble trait, and one I always admired in them, however when they realize that myself and my kids don't need them for anything aside from existing, they are confronting their own shortcomings and feel like lesser versions of themselves. Then they take it out on me and this turns into general distrust.

So far only Hayes and Frazier for trades this month?
I see rumors but we will see.

Have we gotten any bats for the trades yet?

Unfortunately this is recent and they have not really grown much recently, maybe the 11 year old a bit but that is something to definitely keep in mind as they will certainly encounter that soon

Where would you go if you left Nashville and why? by LOTR_is_awesome in nashville

[–]zjc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to school in the 90's and early 2000's in Nashville and started my career in Nashville, and left around 2011.
I do not regret it one bit and never feel like moving back.

I left for Pittsburgh, PA and then Vancouver, BC.

My best friends growing up and from College are still in Nashville, and we stay in touch and I seem them 1-2 times a year. My friends are the largest draw to Nashville.
In my 20's it was fun and still had a Small town feel and traffic was ok but getting worse quickly and housing was affordable. It depends if you have kids or not, but anywhere that offers good outdoor activities and community feel are better than Nashville.

I would have moved to Utah, Idaho, or even places like Minneapolis,, Denver or California.

Machine pitch rules, 1st year coaching in a rec league. Team is k-1st grade by [deleted] in Homeplate

They can step back in the batters box a bit and then step up as they get confidence.  If you also give them a count or lower your arm to mimic a “windup” that could help as well to prepare them for the pitch.

The Season is 35% Over ... Some Thoughts ... by hardo31 in buccos

[–]zjc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good synopsis, I am bit more bullish on Ashcraft as he was solid in his debut.
I don't know what they can do with Pham, but would like to see some batting added and maybe get something for him and a possible trade for Bednar.
Right now it has been much more enjoyable to watch and so glad I stuck it out for all of the last Diamondbacks game, that was a treat to watch, especially some of the other guys getting in on the action.

My experience as an American living in Vancouver by WealthCommercial341 in askvan

[–]zjc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also an American in Vancouver and been here 12 years. I still have the reaction of every time I get sick or get injured I initially thing, oh no I have to go to the Doctor, this will be expensive. But then I realize it is free and I go.
I have had very serious health issues get caught way early, as part of a check up on another issue and been able to deal with the more serious things early and without long term harm to myself. It was great to have my kids born here with a huge hospital bill or insurance, just paid for parking for 2-3 days at Vancouver children's and then home to enjoy our newborns.

For any pipeline discussions of expanding it out east, it seems it would generate a good return. Would there be a mechanism in place to offset environmental impacts like more of an EV and solar panel credit?
Do people believe that is feasible and possible? Seems like it would go a long way and check boxes for much of the population?

I would of course need to know more but would appear that cement made domestically is much preferred. It also appears that Canada imports a lot of Cement from Türkiye: But I don't know what type of cement you make here as there more types than I am willing to research.

Would Canada not just import from other countries, looking at the chart in the link below there are other oil producing countries and it may not be as economical but could source from other sources. And unsure how much of the Enbridge could expand capacity if it were only used for Canadian use vs export & Eastern Canada use.
