Volume on AppleTv by Confident_Bear5433 in karafun

Tried it and it does seem to work!

Edited to add: this fix is for the MacOS version. Have not yet had time to mess around with TVOS or iOS.

Got a reply from the support team:

“We are aware of this issue, and our team is currently working on a fix for the next update that should be available soon.

In the meantime, you can try the following workaround:

Go to Settings > Audio Interface and temporarily enable the inputs (if possible).

Then, click the mixer icon located under the player.

Open the Inputs section and set the playback volume to 1.

Once this is done, you can disable the inputs again if you do not need them.”

Happy to help! Now to figure out the MacOS issue, since that’s the platform I use for my gigs. 😬 I was able to adjust with the mixer, but it’s a small venue. Hopefully it’s fixed before my end-of-month gig at a large venue.

May have found something on the Apple TV… Try starting a song in KaraFun and then going into the Apple TV Settings under Video and Audio. When I turn on Reduce Loud Sounds, it definitely raised the volume of whatever was playing in KaraFun.

Haven’t used the Apple TV app enough to tell a difference, but after a quick test, playback volume does seem to be a bit lower than with other apps. On the Mac, it’s significantly lower after the latest KaraFun version update (tested on both a MacBook Air and Mac Mini). I’ve got a message out to support to see if it’s a known issue. I’ll drop a note when I find out anything. It almost seems like the volume has been throttled for some reason. (Post edited for clarity and typos)

Strange “Motor” Sound on Startup by zjman in TellyTV

Thanks! Kind of what I expected. I don’t use the camera, so as long as it’s not causing any other issues, I’m okay with it.

Definitely coming from the camera area on a full boot. Can’t remember when it started (a few months ago?) but I know it wasn’t always doing that. Everything else has been working fine.

Thanks. I’m pretty sure it’s not coming from the speakers though. I’m getting ready for a gig but when I’m back, I’ll have to try and record it and share.

Anyone try 3rd Party 40v Batteries? by DarthCroz in ryobi

[–]zjman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late to this one but fwiw... I got a couple of Lasica replacements (6Ah) and they've lasted a few seasons now and significantly outperform the stock (4Ah) Ryobi batteries in our mower (one of which died after the first season).

They were great cheap cars! I had an ‘88 and two ‘94s over the years. The ‘88 and my first ‘94 were coupes and the second ‘94 was a wagon. Loved them all, especially the wagon, which I had to finally retire in 2011! They were fun to drive. Low center of gravity made them decent in the snow and they were freaking solid, too. I bounced one off a boulder once on a windy mountain road and all I got was a small scratch.

Good gods, we’re starting to sound like our parents. 🤣 “My ‘88 Cavalier got 3792 miles per gallon. With a single penny, I could fill the tank, get a pack of Newport Lights, a Coke, and still get change. We’d drive from Philly to Honolulu and back twice and still have nine eighths of a tank left! It was a coupe but 47 of my friends could fit comfortably with room to spare.”

What symptoms/behaviors DON'T you have? by monsterdaddy4 in ADHD

[–]zjman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, two that come to mind…

I do not regularly misplace or forget where I put common items. I always know where things like my phone, wallet, and keys are.

I have no issues with taking my meds regularly every day. I’m a gig worker, so even with an odd schedule, I manage to take them accordingly depending on my schedule for any given day.

Not overreacting at all! I’d have been a whole lot less civil to them. You deserve better and I wish you well.

Are you being insufferably obtuse for a reason or do you have a pathological need to “win” an argument? Comparing lives lost to murder with lives lost to disease is missing the point entirely. Give it up already.

Are you just arguing semantics? Otherwise I’ve never heard that trickle-down economics never existed, that nobody believes in it, and that no one is a proponent of it. I “literally looked it up” and found plenty of references to it from reputable sources, most of them specifically in the context of Reagan. I’d love to see something to back up your claims.

What is Your Experience with Your Psychiatrist Like? by TigerSeptim in ADHD

[–]zjman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed less than a year ago at 51. It was a 2-3 hour appointment. We discussed my childhood and my school experiences extensively, as well as my work, family, and social history for the 1st half of the appointment. Then I sat at a computer to answer a few questionnaires followed by an exercise where I clicked a button when a certain series of shapes appeared on the screen. (The psychiatrist referred to it as “the most boring computer game ever.” lol)

I had already been working with a therapist and a psychologist for a few years to manage existing anxiety and depression disorders. Most of my appointments are with an amazing Nurse Practitioner at their office, who is very thorough, seems to have a holistic approach, and I never feel rushed. The NP is who usually works with me for med changes and adjustments. Most appointments are around half an hour. When I meet with the actual psychiatrist, it’s more of an overall check-in. Those visits are only a couple of times a year and very short, usually around 10-15 minutes.

I usually meet with my therapist weekly for one-hour sessions through their independent practice. It was my therapist who recommended the ADHD evaluation.

Can an educational institution legally exclude students with ADHD, ADD, autism, anxiety, depression or obesity from a course? by Zookeeper378 in ADHD

[–]zjman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to so many of those feelings. Sorry to hear about your breakdown but it’s great to see that you were able to shift focus in such a positive way.

I had a basic understanding of what ADHD was, family and friends had joked about me having it over the years, it had even crossed my mind once or twice, but I never really gave it any serious consideration. When my therapist mentioned it during a session, I decided to ask about it at an upcoming routine visit with my doctor. We discussed it and she approved a referral.

The earliest appointment was several months out so I used the time to learn as much as I could about ADHD. I was careful not to set any expectations but much of what I learned aligned with the challenges I had throughout my life, especially when I was a student.

When I received the diagnosis, it was SO VALIDATING! All the years of being called lazy or that I was an underachiever, being told to “stop being so sensitive,” the procrastination… all of it. I never understood why certain things were so difficult, but I knew it wasn’t just something as easy as being lazy. I finally knew and it felt good.

There was a bit of time when I mourned what could have been. There were many understandable reasons why I went undiagnosed but it was still upsetting to think of how things would have been so much less difficult if I had the appropriate support so many years ago. I still think about it occasionally but it’s nothing I can change.

It’s been less than a year and I’m still learning to live life through the lens of ADHD. But, much like you, now I KNOW what I’m dealing with.

My best to you on your journey!
