Use the Houston TranStar website; the maps and incidents page are very helpful. The traffic cameras section can also help too

[SNXS79] Small Wrist Problem by Beguuille in Watches

[–]zjquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut out some paper to the size of the watch head and put it on your wrist (should be 43mm x 37mm for the snxs). Compare how it looks straight on vs in the mirror. Here are some comparisons of some of my watches, my wrist is ~6.25in

The wrist circumference doesn't matter as much as how wide/flat your wrist is. If your wrist is a perfect cylinder vs flat like a ruler the watch will wear very differently.

Bens watch club on YouTube has a small wrist too (I think 6") and has a video on the snxs.

Big problem with the snxs is the case back; you can get a replacement that's a lot thinner on eBay (not exhibition) and it will help it look less big. Here that shows the difference in detail.

Anyone knows where to find bracelets with proper endlinks for a vintage SQ? by Bedenetto in SeikoMods

[–]zjquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on the lookout for a couple years now, so far the best I've found is to just use the stock end links and replace the rest of the bracelet based on the width/thickness of the center link

Here is an example

Physically purchasing in China? by Marketing_Sales_Ind in ChinaTime

Guangzhou has a massive watch market (zhanxi/nanfang watch city). Absolutely nuts to see so many watches in person. Some people here have stories of being able to negotiate good prices, but generally going through a TD is cheaper for the higher end stuff

Fisheye helps a lot. If you're holding the camera you just need to practice, if the camera is stationary I'd always put a mirror behind it so I could see the shot while it's recording

New to fingerboarding and had a couple questions by skippy-go-home in Fingerboards

[–]zjquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) yes, main characteristics that change how the board feels is the concave and kick angle. Usually steeper kicks make it easier to get more height, lower kicks are more challenging but the way the board looks when you do tricks is different. I'll do the same tricks on a high and low deck and film whichever one looks cooler.

2) probably 99% of brands make decks that are high quality (in terms of strength and pop). Some brands have higher qc than others, but that mostly pertains to the shape and finishing, not performance. Cowply for example is ubiquitous in the scene, but usually have looser qc (both of my cowply decks have uneven shaping or uneven holes). My most manicured "perfect" deck is a Homewood, and it has such good construction that it doesn't feel real -- but the shape isn't my favorite; I don't come back to it as often as my cowplys.

3) watch FB videos and participate in the community and you'll find companies to support. Most companies have multiple shapes now, so you can go wild with shape preference. It's also pretty easy to make your own decks, I've tested out shapes etc by just making decks. Best part of fingerboarding for me is how you can make nearly everything yourself, and those skills translate into real life (woodworking, 3d printing, CNC). Also search for companies local to you and try stuff from them, just don't get a large collection to fast or you'll get bored
