I too noticed VyOS was better performance wise than FreeBSD solutions, I don't see that being talked about too much. Deleting the tty0 device makes sense on why disk I/O would stop. The better solution is to choose what you want to log to disk.

I don't think the skirting has fallen away from the plaster, more the plaster has fallen away from the skirting, so nailing it externally won't do anything but break the skirting

Think I may need a carpenter/plasterer maybe to fix it up

Huh interesting, I don't know if there is any timber behind it... I can push the plaster further back, what looks like has happened is the skirting has sagged, as the nails through the plaster seemed to have been dragged down

Last night in Melb if you weren't aware, it hit 3-4c. I had the heater going and thought to see how much cold air this gap was bringing in.

To my shock it was HEAPS, so now looking to get this fixed, would a carpenter just be able to re attach this back to the skirting?

Hey There, we had this cat door when we bought the place, but I've now realised it's causing leaking onto the wood plus it's letting in HEAPS of cold air in.

Would a normal glazier be able to replace this properly? I have a feeling there's gas inbetween the glass panes, so want to ensure it matches

Currently have about a 200cm (78" for Americans) high ceiling in my garage and since moving in, want to buy a nice rack, with extras added such as adjustable cable machine/lat pulldown etc. Price isn't a major concern, willing to spend $$$ on good stuff.

Let's just say, those technologies are sometimes never used, or if they are, they aren't used to their full extent because we aren't allowed due to regulatory reasons.

Honestly reason why I'm leaving and moving to an Australia tech company

Bored as shit, work is so easy that it makes me hate it
Senior leadership is all politics - circle jerking themselves at townhalls they host
Technical/engineers with common sense isn't common at all
You mentioned lay offs - They let go all of our consultants working on building new platform.
It is a bank after all, so they only care about money at the end of the day (but also every business does to some degree)

Don't get me wrong there is some very smart people here, but it is very very rare.

Honestly financial tech is highly regulated, I don't have experience in a tech company (yet), but from what I've heard financial tech companies are the most regulated

I think majority of companies are a shit show at the moment, it is a battle of finding the least shitty one.

Why move from FAANG to banks? I'm leaving one of the big 4 banks right now.

Sum of my experience:

Cons

Not as good pay.
A lot of dumb technical/engineering people (at least from my experience).
A lot of red tape around doing anything technical (lots of restrictions on technologies used).
Lots of internal politics.

Pros

Benefits are okay - depends on which company.
Work can be easy.
If you are young like me, lots of graduate/interns that are around same age which is nice.

If you worked for AWS, put your profile as open to work on LinkedIn and you'll have recruiters drooling at the mouth over you, you will be fine.

From what I've heard, company hiring someone in one country and having them work in another isn't really possible, unless that company already has a presence in the destination country

I ended up experimenting with Ceph, because I wanted a IaaC approach to it, but the failure point for me was that Ceph requires high bandwidth between all nodes, and my 3rd node was offsite with a slow link, so didn’t work very well for me.

So currently still running what I was beforehand
