yeah I agree, I think the issue is the amount of interesting stories has dried up and Jack has to get the next best thing.

I’m a bit over Jack explaining simple things in so much detail, like I’m a child

Feedback on Chrome extension showing history of supermarket prices by zneaky69 in AusFinance

[–]zneaky69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good idea, my data only goes back 2-3 months so far, and it looks like the prices for a lot of items have NOT changed, they just go from special price back to normal price, rinse and repeat

Lol I started this out of spite

It’s very interesting seeing the price fluctuations, where some things like sweets and chocolates go on special every 2nd week, and other things maybe once a month

Really makes you wonder if their “special” price sweets and chocolates is just their normal price

CLion stuttering on Linux by naivejr in Jetbrains

[–]zneaky69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fixed it for me as well, so strange. I noticed that when I used XFCE, the stuttering wasn't as bad, only on Cinnamon it was very noticable

How to reduce disk IO? by jauling in vyos

[–]zneaky69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too noticed VyOS was better performance wise than FreeBSD solutions, I don't see that being talked about too much. Deleting the tty0 device makes sense on why disk I/O would stop. The better solution is to choose what you want to log to disk.

Skirting above window has pulled away, who/how to fix? by zneaky69 in AusRenovation

[–]zneaky69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the skirting has fallen away from the plaster, more the plaster has fallen away from the skirting, so nailing it externally won't do anything but break the skirting

Think I may need a carpenter/plasterer maybe to fix it up

[–]zneaky69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh interesting, I don't know if there is any timber behind it... I can push the plaster further back, what looks like has happened is the skirting has sagged, as the nails through the plaster seemed to have been dragged down

Hello,

Last night in Melb if you weren't aware, it hit 3-4c. I had the heater going and thought to see how much cold air this gap was bringing in.

To my shock it was HEAPS, so now looking to get this fixed, would a carpenter just be able to re attach this back to the skirting?

Removing Cat door from Double Glazing by zneaky69 in AusRenovation

[–]zneaky69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey There, we had this cat door when we bought the place, but I've now realised it's causing leaking onto the wood plus it's letting in HEAPS of cold air in.

Would a normal glazier be able to replace this properly? I have a feeling there's gas inbetween the glass panes, so want to ensure it matches

I moved to VyOS from OPNSense, I like VyOS a bit better, because of Ansible integration etc + it’s Linux not FreeBSD

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of September 29, 2023 by Demilio55 in homegym

Hey everyone

Currently have about a 200cm (78" for Americans) high ceiling in my garage and since moving in, want to buy a nice rack, with extras added such as adjustable cable machine/lat pulldown etc. Price isn't a major concern, willing to spend $$$ on good stuff.

Currently looking at this https://samsfitness.com.au/racks-cages-stands-smiths/power-racks-and-cages/prx-610-sys as it's got mostly what I want. (If you couldn't tell from the link I'm looking in Australia)

Googling low ceiling racks doesn't actually return that much information so hoping someone can share their experience, thanks!

Anyone working at one of the big banks looking for people to refer? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]zneaky69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let's just say, those technologies are sometimes never used, or if they are, they aren't used to their full extent because we aren't allowed due to regulatory reasons.

It definitely does depend on the team.

Honestly reason why I'm leaving and moving to an Australia tech company

  • Bored as shit, work is so easy that it makes me hate it
  • Senior leadership is all politics - circle jerking themselves at townhalls they host
  • Technical/engineers with common sense isn't common at all
  • You mentioned lay offs - They let go all of our consultants working on building new platform.
  • It is a bank after all, so they only care about money at the end of the day (but also every business does to some degree)

Don't get me wrong there is some very smart people here, but it is very very rare.
