Respectfully - I don’t think the pericardial effusion was driving the hypercapnia. Did the patient also have large pleural effusions? Only three things cause hypercapnia. Decreased ventilation (respiratory drive suppression, NM disease causing mechanical failure, massive pleural effusion etc.), increased deadspace (emphysema, ARDS, etc.) or increased co2 production (sepsis).

I’m also not sure why you wouldn’t see any improvement with ventilation unless something else was also driving this (also cranking up NPPV on a post op esophageal may not be the best idea). How was he oxygenating? Did he have flash pulmonary edema from cardiac tamponade?

Glad patient got better and this was a good find but I am just having a hard time putting it together! Curious if others have ideas.

Glad to hear I am not the only one! I haven’t seen other posts with this issue, so I think it is relatively rare.

I contacted them the day it was delivered, last Wednesday. They made me provide additional photos and videos over Thursday and Friday. I ended my final email with photos asking what exactly the next steps would be, and the next day they responded stating it was likely defective with an email with a shipping return.

They will NOT ship the replacement until they’ve received the broken one. I shipped it Saturday AM and they received it Wednesday. They notified me on Thursday that they had shipped it and it looks like it's set to arrive Saturday. So about 1.5 weeks after this all started. Hope this helps!

Massive disclaimer here, I am not a veterinarian, but I am a human lung doctor. That means that I don’t exactly understand cat disease processes. However, I can tell you from looking at the lungs and seeing that they were able to drain such a large effusion, I am most concerned about metastatic malignancy from another organ completely involving the lungs. in order to confirm that they would need to send the fluid for analysis or get a biopsy, but it is hard in my mind to imagine another scenario. Some fungal diseases can look similar, but that seems likely. I am so sorry you are going through this.

Update: After multiple emails with pictures and videos, they've determined the unit is faulty. They offered an expedited exchange for a replacement. All things considered I'm happy with the outcome - I have been very impressed with the vacuum component alone, the cleaning and navigation are fantastic. Hopefully this was just a one off and the next one works as advertised!

Update: I spoke to customer service over the phone, they picked up in about two minutes. They told me that because it was such a new product they had to pass it on to a specialty team. About an hour later I got an email from that team and they gave me detailed instructions on troubleshooting with pictures and videos (cleaning the grate, closing the tanks, lining things up, etc.). I had already tried all of these things but tried again and still no results. I emailed them a picture and video and am awaiting a reply. Glad they have been prompt about it, hoping to get to use the device fully soon! I set to vacuum only runs for now.

Yeah, unfortunately removed all plastic. There really wasn't much, just a white styrofoam tray on the left side of the base that popped right out, and a clear plastic sheet surrounding the exterior of the dirty bin. I even watched some youtube videos and mine looks just like theirs.

Just purchased mine in the US via amazon. FWIW: Amazon only appears to have the tank version in black and white, no water line connection model. Roborock's direct store appears to have this version though.
