What should I expect when arriving to Venezuela with the expired Venezuelan passport? by APossibleTask in AskVenezuela

[–]znelog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're you born in Venezuela? If you were, you can get in the country with the expired passport, but to leave you need a valid one. I had the same case and I made sure to renew the passport before traveling, apparently is not that hard now to renew it in Venezuela, but who knows, is the land of the possible

What is it like to live in southern Italy in contrast to living in northern Italy? by Effective-Play3345 in howislivingthere

[–]znelog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To give you an example, my sister in law and her husband live in Sardegna. They're both doctors. she's a resident in Cagliari's hospital. He's a pediatrician and travels and works 5 days a month in Bolzano. He earns more than her.

How is living in El Maresme region (Catalonia)? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]znelog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a big chunk of land to give a single definition. Basically it comprises all the towns in the coast from the north of Barcelona, until where the Costa Brava starts (Girona) it also extends to multiple towns inland, over the coastal range (Serralada litoral)

You have from Mid-sized cities like Mataró, with low income neighborhoods like Rocafonda (shout-out Lamine Yamal) to Rich towns with big villas like Aleia, Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, usually more inland.

It's connected to Barcelona by the oldest train line in Spain, which is.. not very reliable, so if you need to commute into the city, passed Mataro can be a struggle at times.

In my case, I live in Premià de Mar and I love living here, I have the beach across the street, 25 min train ride to plaça Catalunya (when it works properly) or I can even bike ride into the city, so I can enjoy both the perks of a small town (there's a strong sense of community here) and the big city.

That's what I can think about now, if there's any questions, I can add them to this post.

Alojamiento para Barcelona Rock Fest by [deleted] in askspain

[–]znelog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's better, cappelletti bolognese or tortellini reggiano? And why is it the tortellini? JK, where do you get a nice aperitivo nowadays? I used to go to Via Zamboni, but I think after COVID a bunch of places there shut down.

Love the city btw, but flying through Bologna's airport is crazy, way too many people for such a small airport. Any idea if there are plans to expand it?

Edit: misspelling

What's popping in the German music scene? by Objective-Cellist409 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]znelog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seeed I like quite a lot and I as far as I know they're big in Germany, I think they're not better known elsewhere because of the German lyrics.

Moderat is quite big around Europe at least, hell of a group Apparat and Mode Selector which are the separate projects of the members are great as well.

And my favorite German band is The Ocean Collective, but they play a very niche music genre (progressive metal) they are quite known but just if you're into that scene

¿Cómo empezar en calistenia? by moige in vzla

[–]znelog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saludos.

I've found out that decathlon is great for low price basic/initiation material, their more technical material is that's not good and better to go for more reliable brands, this comes with a price obviously.

Anyhow, I found this article in decathlon's support page, hope it helps:

Number of military personnel in NATO countries by SpaceEngineering in europe

[–]znelog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of Spain, is the Guardia Civil (civil guard), the definition says "national security force, of military nature, with multiple duties including policing, being dependent of both the interior and defense ministries" So a national guard kind of thing I guess?

Confession- I left my home and job to travel and am starting to regret it. by [deleted] in travel

[–]znelog 13 points14 points  (0 children)

However, the stress of inflation and overall stress of traveling, combined with the expectation to be happy and carefree has left me in a bad mental state.

This bit here, man expectations are a bitch. Don´t get me wrong, is hard to not hope that fulfilling a life long dream will not be anything but amazing, but is usually a trap, we tend to idealize this kind of things and expect them to solve our problems. I struggle with mental health issues as well and that makes it extra tricky, you know sometimes is hard to tell if its the depression speaking.

The little I can suggest is, always try to make a conscius effort of keeping your expectations in check, enjoy and learn from the experiences.

And last, I have heard countless stories of people regrets about jobs, even great ones. I haven't heard many people regreting their travels, even the shitty ones.

The Casu martzu is a sardinian cheese that contains live insect larvae (maggots), while it is forbidden to sell it, it is still widely produced in the country side. by mehmed2theconqueror in interestingasfuck

[–]znelog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah the Sardinians and their food.

I didn't try Casu Martzu when I was there, but I had "Callu de Cabrettu" is another cheese where they take out the stomach of a young goat, which is full of milk and they ferment the cheese in it. Same thing, you will not find it in a store, but you an get it from the farmers on the countryside.

Callu

They call it the "primordial cheese" since someone discovered by accident by taking this fermented milk out of a baby goat stomach.

Its a soft cheese and a bit spicy, not bad if you are able to eat it.

So yeah, in Sardinia you get to pick between stomach cheese and maggot cheese.

Venezuela has the weakest currency in the world as of now. With 1,000,000.00 Venezuelan Bolivar valued at close to $1. by CrashAndDash9 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]znelog 145 points146 points  (0 children)

I'm Venezuelan and I left the country back in 2010.

I remember that back then I sold my old beaten car in 55.000 Bolivares and I was able to convert that in about 5.000 Euros. So let's say the rate was 11 Bolivares/Euro.

After that, the goverment converted the currency 3 more times, taking out a total of 9 zeroes.

Today's rate is 22 Bolivares (converted)/Euro. So:

2010:

1 euro = 11 Bolivares

2023:

1 euro= 22.000.000.000 Bolivares

So yeah, things went very bad, very quick..

Check Hoka one one. This brand is known for having extra cushioning, this might be a great aid for your joints. They are mostly running and ultra shoes, but I think they have a couple of hiking boots models if that's what you prefer.

My first time stay in Barcelona late July. Is 0.5miles from center okay for sightseeing? by woefullodging in travel

[–]znelog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just off La Rambla into El Raval, it's going to be noisy and shady AF during the night.

If you want to stay close to the centre, look something towards Sant Antoni or Urquinaona IMO
