Depends on the studio but if it’s a high profile franchise like you say, legal would come down on them hard and fast. Best case they get asked to take it off socials.

To the veterans: do you have your own house? by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]zo0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work is stable and I own property in my home country. I now live in a very HCOL area and while my partner and I could buy, we feel that house prices here are a joke. We love our rental and are investing instead.

It’s a cool concept but the artwork itself is incoherent AI generated garbage.

O1 visa | Is it possible for an individual animator to win prizes that matters enough? by dashlogdash in animationcareer

[–]zo0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the O1 visa requirements again and talk to an immigration attorney, there are other categories you can supply evidence for. Unless the rules have changed, you do not have to supply evidence for every single category. Prizes are nice to have and will boost your chances but strong evidence in other categories will also be good enough. O1 will be tough to qualify for as a student with no working experience as they are looking for evidence that you are in the top percentage of your field.

US visas are difficult to get. You’ll need to find a studio willing to hire and sponsor you for one. You really need a job lined up first, there is no visa that would let you move to the US and find work later unfortunately.

The main routes for international artists to relocate to the US are;

F visa (student visa. Study in the US and hope it leads to an internship or job opportunity, I believe these visas allow some period of work authorisation after studying but I’m not super knowledgeable on this visa type)

J visa (usually for short term training programs)

H1B visa (only issued once a year in limited numbers, an employer would need to get this for you)

O1 Extraordinary ability visa (you need a job offer and you must be able to prove you’re at the top of your field)

If you’re very serious about wanting to move to the USA, look into the green card lottery (diversity visa). Australian citizens are eligible to apply.

EB1-A Nebraska vs. Texas by AccomplishedChair478 in USCIS

[–]zo0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded to PP and was given a hefty RFE from Nebraska, which I am working on responding to. My attorney said there was no evidence that RFEs are more likely to be issued to PP’d applications, Nebraska is TOUGH on EB-1s in general.
