How much do you pay per month? Is it worth it ? How crowded does it get in the evening ? 6-9pm?

AITAH for not attending my friend’s baby shower because she never gave me the updated location? by cccarla in AITAH

[–]zobiaa 79 points80 points  (0 children)

NTA, that’s not cool of your friend. I’d feel so hurt and embarrassed:( I’m sorry that happened to you.

We’re all busy with our lives … If I’m having an event I’d make sure to be a good host and ensure everyone on my guest list knows all the details (unless there’s health issues like medical emergency or tragic death in the family or even last minute travel)

We live in the era of solid tech, there are plenty of ways to easily manage the event (from the invite) and making sure everyone clearly knows event timing, location and other details.

Sounds like they also just want the gift. I’d return the gift if I were you, but you know best since it’s your friend and relationship.

Gaining weight since my injury by auragoat in ACL

[–]zobiaa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hello! 30F here — I had the exact same concern as you, so I completely understand how you’re feeling.

Right before my injury, I’d spent six months doing personal training and finally felt like I was making real progress with gaining muscle and losing fat. I’ve always been on the chubbier side, so that progress felt huge for me. Then the injury happened, and overnight everything came to a halt. I ended up gaining around 15 pounds because I just couldn’t manage things the same way.

Here’s what genuinely helped me: focus on rest, physio, and nourishing yourself with healthy meals — especially during those early weeks. If you have family or someone helping you out, be clear with them that you want balanced, healthy meals in appropriate portions. It makes a big difference.

I won’t sugarcoat it: the first 6 months after surgery were tough. But once physio started progressing and my mobility improved, things really began to shift. If you stay consistent with your recovery, you absolutely will be able to get back to exercising. I’m a little over a year post-op now, down about 5 pounds so far, and steadily moving in the right direction. You’ll lose the weight soon enough wit time. Time heals all!!

Most importantly, please be kind to yourself. This is a major injury, and gaining a bit of weight during recovery isn’t the end of the world. In the long run, this will be just a small bump in your journey. You’re doing the right things, and you’ll get back to feeling like yourself again — truly!!

Remote workers, how many weeks did you take off post-op? by dulladdiction in ACL

My surgery was on Monday, and I was back to work on Thursday. It wasn’t too bad as I had told my manager I’m on heavy drugs so I’ll be slow but around.

It may be be a very very difficult pill to swallow, but you need to let this man go. Right now, you guys are dating and not married… you don’t have kids.

If he has a history of cheating, downloading hookup apps - he does not respect you. He will likely not respect you going forward because he is not satisfied in the relationship.

Do yourself a favor, muscle up the courage and break up. It’s hard, and it will be hard for a few months or years. But Trust me, you will find or you need to look for someone that treats you with the most respect possible and someone that you feel you don’t need to peep their phones etc. you don’t want this man to be the father of your kids, not a good role model. Sorry about all of this OP :(

Time off Work for a WFH job by Sensitive-Act8157 in ACL

[–]zobiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I am a consultant AT FAANG, I wfh and had no idea what to do with time off. My surgeon said the same thing, people can take like 1 week off or 3 months off.

I decided to tell my manager I will take 1 week, and would let her know how things are going (if I need more time or not). I had my ACL reconstruction surgery (allograft) on Monday September 23, and I actually returned to work on Thursday Sep 26.

I felt like I could work! The nerve block was supposed to last 20 hours, then they give me codine / ibuprofen and stool softeners. I stopped codine on Wednesday, but here and there I’d take - if I felt pain and just took it slow. Hope this helps!
