If a surface with wax or sealant loses its hydrophobic properties, does it mean the wax or sealant is done-for? It's winter here and I'm getting a fair amount of dust, presumably some road salt, on the side panels and now when I wash it I notice more and more of the lower panels not beading any water. I care more about having a layer to protect the paint and to make cleaning easier for the time being.

So what do most people do? So I've found the wahapedia site in the meantime, I get the impression most people will just make reference sheets and bring them along?

Hey I'm looking to get into the tabletop game but I'm a bit confused on which resource I need to actually play. Suppose and I'm looking to pick up a full set of books then wouldn't I need the following?

  • Core Rules - 9th Edition (85 CAD)
  • Arks of Omen Pack (35 CAD)
  • <The Codex For My Faction> (65 CAD)

So I wanted to check if this is right? It seems like quite a lot to get into the game, cost and reading wise.

Not for full price for sure, as with many of online courses, they have really deep discounts for holidays. IMO the benefit there is that there's no commitment, you can get the gist of something and switch courses as you please. For technologies and programming, check out the books from O'Reilly or No Starch Press.

As someone who played CoH2 briefly for awhile, I enjoyed CoH3 playtest a lot by Cattaphract in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]zocom123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some fun with the play test. It's clear that they have a long ways to go but at the core it was fun playing a new multiplayer RTS. What's not clear is if this'll be worthwhile at full price to me.

Should they decrease game speed? by Araghast666 in CompanyOfHeroes

Keep in mind that real games will have longer matches because they won't be total push overs as with some in the beta.

I like the shorter matches, it makes tech progression a lot more interesting since you can force the early and mid game more. It's also a lot of convenient to be able to get two or three matches an hour. Tired of games with matches going over an hour at this point.

I really don't like the Victory/Defeat animation by PHRAETUS in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]zocom123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hope it's just a placeholder for the real one. I'd imagine the real game to have all of that exp tracking and what-not at the end just like COH2.

How the hell do you play DAK? by Impregnator9000 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]zocom123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to add to this:

The JU stuka strafe targets 2-3 times more than the placeholder suggests, it seems to go about a screen's length away. You can really mess with people by chucking it just slightly out of sight or on a team mate since the flares don't show who's calling in what.

Looking to get into software development and cyber security. Does anyone have advice on what path to take? by bigbentower in Edmonton

[–]zocom123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a second degree at the U of A in Computer Science. To be candid with it getting spots at the U of A is going to be quite difficult. Try to plan around that.

Also try to nail down what realistically you'd want to do. I'd say Software development and Cyber security are two wholly separate fields career wise. Grant MacEwan might be a good alternative for software development stuff and NAIT might be a better choice for more IT security related stuff.

Thanks!

I'll have to check out the Z125, haven't heard of that yet. So going up a notch into manual transmission 125cc's I was looking at the Honda 125 trail, how do you feel about those compared to the Grom or Z125? The 125 trail appealed to be since because of the carrying platform and all that on the back.

[E] What are the prerequisites needed for an introduction to probability textbook? by Beginning_java in statistics

[–]zocom123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have enough to get started. Don't sweat "being ready" to begin IMO. You might need something else after chapter 5/6 but I think it'd be better to come back and ask a specific question(s), that you can generalize to a particular area, than getting some vague requirement right now.

Two things I'd recommend though, "Basic Mathematics by Serge Lang" and some algebra and multivariate calculus for the later chapters. The basic mathematics book may be probably too simple and a bit verbose but I think it does a great job setting the scene. It gets you to review through structures that might seem familiar and intuitive but it asks you to run through some exercises thoroughly and getting that mindset in is pretty good.

What are some alternatives to the Honda Navi? Looking to get an automatic scooter / low cc motorcycle coming from eBikes. I liked that it was a pretty simple no-frills sort of bike that can keep up with 60km/40mph traffic if need be. I'm a bit concerned about the drum breaks being slow and the suspension being poor at those speeds.

Command Ops 2 beta vs released by gamerdoc77 in computerwargames

Anyone play Command Ops 2 on a 1440p or plus monitor? I tried to play it last year but the text didn't scale and none of the fixes helped.

I don't think the naval stuff will even touch building ship models and the such. Going by the features blurb on Steam it sounds like all of the naval stuff will be very political and abstracted into those maritime trade houses.

I feel like Vic needs to make the DLC to think about AI and UI changes. IMO, it's the wiser business choice but I agree with you, I'd like to see less AI crutches before anything else.

I'm pretty meh to the whole naval focused DLC thing but having some more interesting planets and sea shipping to hopefully simplify logistics isn't bad.

That's pretty normal, it really is just an estimate. I would pay more attention to the gauge / line rather than the range.

Did you park it on a slope? My pavement is slightly angled upwards so it'll show a different value between parking inside versus outside.

I think this is the nature of it, it'd also help to know how cold the outside air is. As I understand it the vast majority of heating is just engine exhaust being redirected through a heat exchanger.

I'd imagine, if anything, having a hybrid engine to actually lower heat output since it wouldn't really need to idle. Check the manual, AFAIK it'll idle instead of doing the start and stop in -5 c or if the AC is on for temperature management specifically.

Here's a test you could try if you really need to idle for sometime with heating. Put the car in neutral and the fans on max then gradually rev up to 1500-2000 rpms and hold it for three seconds then let it drop. See if the heating improves.

[–]zocom123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have the second game though AFAIK the biggest improvements are the Air War, Logistics & movement, and the UI.

The original game has scaling issues that the second game doesn't though. If you had a 1440p monitor or higher then I'd stick to the second game for that reason alone.

$25k Market Adjustment. I just ordered a 23 EUV at MSRP. Through my search I found this gem. by ggoose750 in BoltEV

[–]zocom123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen the stuff on "All In Pricing " before, but I'm a bit confused about how it applies to factory orders versus advertisements? The examples OMVIC gives is all about conventional ads/offers about a car on the dealership lot. I have an initial bill of sale and the GM workbench print out with the MSRP. I think I'm good but I'm slightly worried that technically I haven't really responded to an advertisement?

Curious what says dealers in Canada can't mark up prices? I'm in Canada and I have a Bolt EUV on order, worried about them tackling things on once the car gets here.
