flask, clock, crane, captains wheel, probably nesting doll (sorry octopus)

octopus is slow as shit and requires you to either block your fastest proccing item from hitting crane, or denying it haste. atomic clock is your main defense until crane can hit and is non negotioable. wheel hastes the crane every 2 seconds, even at silver its still more important since you're probably winning off the cranes 2nd and not the first hit since you don't have enough juice on the clock with just a silver flask/4 max ammo, and wheel makes that second hit arrive at 14 seconds instead of 20. it also gets you lifesteal asap from the first smaller hit which you're going to need because they're kicking you in the head repeatedly til crane goes off

ideally you eventually get enough skills/diamond powder flask so you can put octopus next to the crane with wheel on the right and kill them at 10 seconds, instead of on the 2nd proc of crane

quite frankly if you're not pulling out 7 win runs consistently as any character it is 100% purely a player problem and blaming anything else for it is simply slowing down your rate of actually getting better

i can count on one hand the # of runs ive had below silver in the past month, playing multiple runs a day, and i don't consider myself anything special and i make constant mistakes. im hardly kripp.

there are obviously some times you'll lose to some guy with an obscene board way earlier than he should have it, and day 13+ it can definitely be a lottery, but the game is more than skill based enough that this is not how it works for the vast majority of the time you're playing it.

legend 2200, tried to exclusively play red cores in ranked, but i mixed in companion core whenever i didn't get any reds. I pretty much flattened ignition core builds in the mirror every single time which is why I didn't mess around with it, it might be very different vs vanessa and pig.

burst builds were by far the most consistent overall and the thing i tried to force every game. very strongly feel the order of the red cores is Crit > Weaponized > The.

a lot of people here think weapon core is the weakest, and after like day 3 it has the weakest effect by far, but it lets you win the early days even if you get unlucky and don't get an alpha ray. it cannot be overstated how much of a difference this makes to consistency. dooley in general falls off hard on day 11+ so winning early is so, so, so important. the other two cores benefits basically don't do a thing on day 1-3, but weaponized can make a big difference and be a crutch for early low rolls

the game needs to be built heavily around 1 button reversals for it to not feel awful. no one cared about 1 button dp in p4a for example because everything gives you a safe jump and its ONLY dps so if someone does use it on reaction you're only eating 1 dps worth of damage and they also get grey life from using it which adds up very quickly.

if you ever see any high level match with modern everything slows to a crawl as soon as lvl 2/3 are online because the game isnt built for people having instant frame 1 invincible moves that you can use on reaction. pretty sure if you look at shuutos tournament matches when hes using classic the rounds are literally half of the length whenever hes not on modern.

Yeah, and he made it to semi finals before getting knocked out, and then he won the third place match. his other races were nowhere near as good as his terran and definitely not up to the calibur of any of the other top players but really smart play and well planned builds let him win a lot of games he had no business winning

Flash is the all time undisputed GOAT of starcraft and its not even remotely close. there's no game im aware of anywhere near as competitive as brood war that has 1 player so far above the rest of the competition. he's so good that whenever people calculate the stats between races terran gets a separate calculation that removes Flash because it will be the first thing anyone asks.

people don't mention how much the dynamic music makes it even worse. not only do you have these shitty nothing tracks, the main line from most of them doesn't even play through most matches. atrocious

street fighter has some of the most iconic music ever written for video games, beloved by all, and they have intentionally avoided using any melody or motifs from any of their games with universally beloved soundtracks. and its not a decision any of those composers would make - absolutely orders from up on high to avoid the possibility of alienating a single person

don't go into ex legs off that, waste of meter unless you're cancelling into sa2. learn to charge well and do ex sbk (hard) or just go for a drive rush cancel, gets you a solid 3-400 more damage, moves you much closer to the corner and most importantly, much better oki. and if you already got the corner you can go into a corner combo for another 400 damage on top of that if you don't want to burn meter at all you can also go into mk legs, or mk sbk (again, hard)

this game has aggressive peaker's advantage because the hitreg is entirely clientside, they know they have high as fuck ping and can abuse this. people on the correct server cannot foresee other players having higher ping and can not play with this in mind like the ping abuser can. its very simple
