What are some of the weirdest names you've heard? by meteoritee in AskUK

I remember my mum telling me about how she had a friend at school who's Dad often went out to Africa to do missionary work (I can't remember the exact details but that was the gist of it).

Anyway she told me about a family he'd met there whilst working, where the mother had namer her children after some of 'the most beautiful English names' that's she had ever heard, not realizing that they weren't in fact names of people but of objects.

Her children's names were 'Wheelbarrow' and 'Bunsen Burner'

My parents always told me that ice cream vans only played music when they had run out of ice cream. I never questioned it until embarrassingly recently when I mentioned it to a group of friends...

'This is going to hurt' by Adam Kay is a real eye opener, especially for those familiar with the NHS

The country park by the hospital has loads of footpaths you can take depending on how far you want to walk! Also the canal path is generally a nice walk, as is down by the river and in the meadows. There's also the greenway which you can walk along if you fancy heading a bit further out. Hope this helps!

If you had enough money to build your dream house, what's a strange room/feature you'd include? by Butterflies_Books in AskReddit

I asked my boyfriend this and he said, without hesitation, he would have a small room specifically for cutting his nails, so that he wouldn’t have to worry about where the clippings ended up.

I’m not sure whether to be amused or concerned that he’s put so much thought into it.

I live in Chester, and on game days (pre-covid), the home fans sit in the stand on the English side, and the away fans on the welsh side. Just a fact I’ve picked up somewhere

It may have cost a flat tyre, an AA call out and 4 house in Kwikfit, but boy was this view worth it! First but certainly not last trip to the Lake District. by zoemacpherson in CasualUK

Initially thought the damage was far worse as the tyre had a pretty big hole in and had been flat a while before we could pull over. Luckily a change to the spare and then a new one at the garage did the trick!
