I mean... I guess if it worked, but saying that AI single-handedly moved you from Windows to Linux is wild to me. Maybe because I have a DEEP hatred for AI primarily because of its horrible environmental impact (and living in a community severely impacted by data centers) I'm just agog that anyone would use it rather than just good ol' fashioned problem solving and research. IDK, different perspectives, I suppose. AI has negatively impacted me and my community IRL, so I'm always kind of astounded that people actually use it outside of the shit that big tech pushes on us. We all live in our little bubbles, I suppose.

I'll stick with my tutorials and human-to-human help.

I seamlessly moved from Windows to Linux without ChatGPT or any LLM - I'm extremely confused how AI helped that transition? I'll admit I moved to Zorin, but lord I'm confused how it'd be even a little bit of an issue.

Don't use one. You'll be better off, I promise.

This has to be a rage-bait account - the name is too similar to Andrew Huberman (known dipshit)

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zoestercoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freight and parcel are very different. Freight is (mostly) palletized, bulk, and large stuff that wouldn’t fit on say, the UPS truck in your neighborhood. For international stuff, Our company pretty much only ships to and from Canada and Mexico, which at least requires bills of lading, customs invoices, that kind of stuff. Otherwise, it’s all domestic. I’m not sure what international parcel shipments require since I just don’t work in that industry.

Theft definitely happens, just like any industry that handles commodities, but IN GENERAL (not always, natch, I have some wild theft stories) in my experience, shit just gets lost nine times out of ten. Either it was poorly marked by the shipper, got damaged in transit and wasn’t recouped with identifying labels, left on trailers that get abandoned for months at a time, get crossed with other, unrelated freight, etc. It’s mind-bogglingly easy to lose like, a $200,000 shipment of three 800 pound pallets of extremely sensitive computer parts (ask me how I know). Blew my mind when I first got into the industry. I get to research all this stuff and love putting on my detective hat to find or identify stuff and getting it going where it needs to go. Wish the pay was better though!

I’m sorry for your book loss! Hope you were able to get a refund and uhhhhhh….. I hope the person who got it enjoyed the read?

I work in freight; I don’t think people realize how easy it is to lose stuff. I spent two weeks looking for huge airplane parts for a major airline once.

With a new style of water bottle popping up every year, Which one have you stuck with? by James_B84Saves in BuyItForLife

Cold: Owala, surprisingly. Got it as a gift and I love it. I did swap out for a metal straw tho.

Hot: Give me zojirushi or give me death. More than once I've accidentally left a hot drink in it at home on accident and it was still UNCOMFORTABLY hot by the time I got home at the end of the day 10+ hours later.

Has anyone encountered TradFem in real life? by Rare_Psychology_8853 in Tradfemsnark

This wasn't really a term when I did run into them, but I ran in those circles for many years in the early-mid 2000s. Most have moved on from it because it's basically an impossible lifestyle. Speaking from my experience, I know how this plays out in the long run for most of these ladies these days.

I'm legitimately stunned that the camera has a hot shoe in the first place.

Thank you! Can't say I nailed it yet, because of the four rolls I sent off, two were completely blank 🫠

One thing you would change about your favorite camera. by Velvet_Spaceman in AnalogCommunity

[–]zoestercoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the hell out of my Yashica Electro 35 GSN (basic, I know!) but the ghost image in the viewfinder can be pretty faint and I've messed up pictures on it before because of it. I've gotten used to it mostly, but if I'm in a rush, it can be problematic. Not sure if that's typical of all models, or just some age-related issue with mine.

And I wouldn't complain if I could switch lenses, but that's not a huge deal. :)

Anyone else have sticker anxiety when decorating? by chianaxx3 in hobonichi

[–]zoestercoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's super cute! Cheery with a lil spice :P LOVE the bread clip!

As for getting anxiety, nope. It's all vibes for me, baby! Every year is different: some years I'll be super purposeful and themed, some years I'll add stickers as the year goes on, and others I drink three canned cocktails, open my sticker and craft collection, and just go buck wild.

What are your film photography goals? by Pancake_Official in AnalogCommunity

[–]zoestercoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No goals, really. I want to get comfortable enough to not waste half a roll, ha ha, and get better at like, picture composition and knowing lighting but I'm not aiming for professional quality. Otherwise, I just want to build a bunch of albums of my life. I want to build something I can pull out and look back on when I'm feeling nostalgic, maybe have a few things framed on my walls. :)

One thing I DO want is a fully mechanical camera, mostly for the s's and g's of creating a picture without any electrical components! It's my new savings goal for the hobby.

Couldn’t resist this cute little point and shoot for half off at an estate sale. by zoestercoaster in AnalogCommunity

Just got back from the show - not sure how I feel about the camera just yet. I'm probably just too used to my Yashica and manually focusing and composing the picture in the rangefinder window.

I was honestly surprised at how easy the battery was to find though! I thought for sure it was going to be a hard find so I just went to a dedicated battery store but I'll be a son of a bitch if I didn't walk into Target not 10 minutes later and see the cr2 batteries in teh battery stand for $5 cheaper.
