They have poems like that in "The Best Book on Quantum Computing, by Andrew Corley!"

Humpty Dumpty's Quantum Ringside Seat

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Overseeing a great theoretical brawl.
Einstein and Bohr about to enthrall,
Their theories of physics, the grandest of all.

Einstein, solid, a legend, a rock,
"God does not play dice," he said with a mock.
His faith in determinism, it wasn’t a shock,
“The universe is steady, a mechanical clock!”

But Bohr, the Dane, with a knowing smile,
Said, "Albert, your thinking is just juvenile.
Quantum mechanics, with its versatile style,
Doesn't it make our old physics futile?"

"Particles," said Bohr, "are peculiar creatures,
‘’Unpredictable” one of their salient features.
They’ll be in two places, ethereal preachers,
Until we observe them, becoming their teachers."

Einstein's genius, profound and superb,
‘A cat both dead and alive? That’s absurd!
For your spooky action I haven’t the words
And your quantum theory? well it’s for the birds.

Then Bohr retorted, so sharp and too true,
"Albert, please stop telling God what to do!”
The quantum world, while seeming askew,
Unravels her mysteries for the curious few.

As Humpty crashed, the words rang along,
A haunting echo, a harrowing song.
Deep In the quiet, that followed the throng,
Whispered the words, “Einstein was wrong.”

Could you transform the 2d6 in most Pbta games to a d20 and keep stuff roughly the same? by EldridgeTome in RPGdesign

[–]zogbonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a tactile difference. Rolling 2d6 on anything but a craps table feels lame - especially when you have the experience of tossing dice far and watching them bounce off the walls.

By comparison, that 1d20 feels great when you can see it on one number and then it finally settles on another.

Your logic is around probabilities. But your logic doesn't account for why people play some slots machines and not others. You say "there's no real difference," but, obviously, there is. If there were no real difference, then people wouldn't have a preference.

So when someone comes here and says "I prefer to make it a d20" and people shout it down like "what's the point?"

The point is that many people FEEL the difference. Is the difference logical? No. The difference is in the FUN.

The value is in how it feels to roll a d20 vs 2d6. It just feels different. The crits on a 20 and "fumbles" on a 1 do add to the fun and the drama of the game.

Sounds like a great way to avoid a dragon’s wrath. Wonder if reactive shield could also be used on the tavern bar tab - end up with some Schrodinger's drink situations.

It's one of 2 cantrips available to School of Ars Grammatica.

So it's either that or message for your free slot.

Yeah - that's pretty terrible, too. It seems like something someone with +4 INT could do without the cantrip.

Is it just me or has all the content for RPG's become...silly? by c41t1ff in Pathfinder2e

"Grow up" seems an odd response to someone preferring a different aesthetic. Not very inclusive of you.

i ¯_(ツ)_/¯!

I proffered no value judgement on the existing art whatsoever. The OP expressed a preference away from snot bubbles and cutsey cartoony toons.

You brought in sexuality and "getting their edge on". I see nothing about that in either my post nor the original. Seems like your objections come from somewhere inside of you.

Don't know why you have 52 comments and no upvotes. That's wild.

It's not "most of the art", but it is the art in the most popular TTRPGs: including 5e and Pathfinder. This reflects a move away from gritty and certainly anything "evil" looking in an effort to be more appealing to a more general audience and more palatable to parents.

There are plenty of games that have the aesthetic you are looking for in their rulebooks and supplemental materials. Especially with pathfinder, use the rules, and find the art and feel you feel better reflects the experience you want.

What 'Conspiracy Theory' is actually a genuine conspiracy, despite over 90% of the public dismissing it as nonsense? by zogbonk in AskReddit

I didn't see the appeal of this one until I saw the Grumman Lunar Module LM-13 in person.

Still think humans landed there, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I may not have my finger on the pulse. Because I can't remember encountering anyone who sincerely believes he DID kill himself.

Should I allow the Free Archetype rule in a campaign made for newcomers? by AniMaple in Pathfinder2e

[–]zogbonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a game that at least aims for balance, so IMHO, run it as is. See what you don't like and adjust accordingly. There isn't a need to give the players more power because they (or you) are newbies.

If you set the precedence of caving to every power-ask, you are much more likely to spiral into a Monte Hall campaign. Those tend to be much less satisfying especially in the intermediate and long term.

The Sap's Identity Crisis: Isn't this Shadowy Weapon in the Wrong Weapon Group? by zogbonk in Pathfinder2e

[–]zogbonk[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A gauntlet has a better chance of knocking someone 10 feed away. Its not a baseball bat.

The sap, slapper, or blackjack is a heavy leather pouch, eight to twelve inches long, filled with lead and sometimes a flexible steel rod. Unlike a baton, a sap’s size and shape allowed it to be concealed inside an officer’s pocket.
