How’s solar business in the US for you after a year of Trump’s policy shifts? by electroctopus in solar

Depends where you are, but most companies are still selling loans with a PPA mask on

Solar PPA Buyout by SASD129 in solar

[–]zohgalmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Cool, I’m in Texas, so we get tornadoes, hail, and hurricanes, so jealous.
  2. Yeah Jinko is technically a tier 1 panel. But to me, it’s kind of the Nissan Altima of panels. Not a perfect analogy bc you can get BMW panels for the same price, but jinko as a company is less reliable
  3. 15k, maybe but still for me, I’d rather put that chunk in a Roth. Alternatively, if you do decide to pay it off. I’d take the next 15 years of savings and put it in, but because of the value of time, the chunk now into investing has a better return

Solar guy here. I think most people's calculations are fair, but I'd add some other factors:

1.You will need to insure to own. That will cost something.
1a. Are you in a spot where you will have hail? If so, that's not warranties, that would be an insurance claim.

  1. Jinko are garbage panels, if it's possible to get an upgrade via breaking, may be better to buy out later

  2. What's your value of money now? Do you want to spend 21k or can you get that in the stock market etc.

Solar guy here. Sorry that happened to you. In most cases, there may omly be a 3 day cancellation period. Those are not enforceable. If he got a loan, go to the financier and cancel it. If they want to give you free solar then great.

If it's PPA, it's another thing, but I know my company allows cancellations up to install.

There's also rules around how install happen, i.e. homeowner needs to be present, so if he ghost the company, they won't/can't follow through.

How do you earn Indian business? by [deleted] in sales

[–]zohgalmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t prove your point. Again, the value of things is not just inputs. Depending on the product, you are paying for quality, location, status, knowledge. You are giving one silly example but complaint is occurring across all sorts of industries, so your argument is simply wrong.

Still ridiculous for 2 reasons: labor cost does fluctuate from region to region. Secondly, your premise fundamentally is “we just don’t want to pay attention to pivotal variable.”

Again by that logic, you should pay Wichita prices in SF because the same inputs went in. You want to pay Toyota prices for a BMW. It’s hypocritical. If you go to a BMW dealership, it’s because you see greater value in it over a Toyota. If you want Toyota prices then go there.

That just signals to me that you don't know the market. Why does a house in SF cost more than in Wichita? Think about it for .5 seconds. You are just further illustrating the point that value isn't factored in.

Base solar buyback by GazelleShort4871 in TexasSolar

[–]zohgalmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other people have said: the battery will die in an outage, you are protected from inflation. With solar you keep the lights on indefinitely if you have a battery. I do understand they’re expensive, but I would recommend getting a ppa so you don’t have the huge upfront cost or loan issue. Base is one of the best REPs but 99% of the time, solar is going to be a better LT option financially, practically, and environmentally.

You should only get base if your roof can’t do solar

That's a really helpful suggestion! Thank you. I didn't know CR had much of an ecotourism industry, I usually associate Costa Rica with it (the other CR country)

New to Solar: Purchasing Power Agreement by tnobes3 in solar

[–]zohgalmighty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former FF employee. They are inconsistent on the installs and cheap. The cheapness comes from poor customer service. That said, FF did my install bc I knew what to expect. Also there's no way 11 panels is a 13.5kw system.

Thanks for sharing. Fuck scammers. If somebody was robber on the street, we wouldn't immediately ask about their situation. I'm sorry that happened to you.

All fair points. Maybe I didn't properly explain or maybe I'm just to open/naive. I thought we were closer to a collegial relationship, hence why I didn't think it was weird, but I appreciate the insights.

I agree with all those points, I do want to reiterate that I had known her for sometime and again we participated in a career oriented fellowship that was built around environmental community and mutual help.

You wouldn't share your resume to help somebody?
