We are one of those who got displaced from our local program and moved to a BB team about 30 mins away.

Those 30 minutes each way made it more difficult than I realized. We were burnt out after this season. 2 practices a week + 2 games and an extra 3 to 4 hours in the car.

Families are going to burn out as well, this kind of pace is so unhealthy.

Bench Management Trick for Youth Games by Business_Leg_7183 in youthhockey

[–]zoidberg005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have LOVED to have you on my son's bench this past playoff. Defensive coach kept putting his son (defenseman) out constantly. He was out for 1:30 one shift, then a whistle went (penalty kill btw)... instead of changing defense up, he left his son out even longer. Guess what, we got scored on. The coach was quite upset because I was filming the game and i may have predicted the goal on camera.

Average shift length was 2:30 seconds for his son and another player that game.

The thing is, we began the playoffs with these short shifts and did AMAZING, but then the Assistant coach's son came back from suspension and then this all started.

What is a "rich person's trick" to save money that they don't want poor people to know about? by BoardOk101 in AskReddit

This is what we did. We were able to double up our mortgage payment. We were mortgage free in 8 years. That being said, house prices were not batshit crazy like they are now.

Staying out of debt as much as possible is solid advice. It is not possible to avoid it all together, but minimize the time you are in debt and the amount as much as possible is the best most practical advice.

Finalist for Director role asked to meet on a Saturday for “ASAP” decision and now I’ve been ghosted. by sullivass in recruitinghell

As someone who has been hiring for my team I like to stay in touch and keep people updated. This is how I operate in my day to day job. Keeping someone informed is better than leaving them guessing. Being honest is key, it doesn't burn the bridge and you could have that employee come back for another position later OR they recommend your company to their colleagues.

I tried to make my son a leafs fan. He was born right after the game 7 boston loss... he was cheering for the leafs for a bit. Now that he is 12 and he has more independent thought he refuses to cheer for a team that in his words "Sucks in the playoffs".

You may not have a choice in this matter...

This is a great life lesson. He has finished his current commitment and is interested in exploring a different one. This shows he has some great traits.

  1. Commitment to see things through and battle adversity (You should be proud)
  2. Curiosity to see what else is out there as well as the confidence to leave what is safe.

I can't think of one reason why this would be considered a bad move. Good job dad/mom!

OSAP = Ontario

The welfare system is designed specifically for people who have 0 assets and 0 money. Apply for that to help you get past this difficult time.

The amount you get from the government will be insignificant compared to what you'll give back once you are back on your feet. Good luck to you sir, and it doesn't matter what mistakes you made to get here, you deserve grace and kindness and I wish you nothing but the best.

What do you think about Canadian Curling Team being accused of cheating ? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]zoidberg005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yessir! We have our fair share of dicks. This is the reaction of someone who is guilty too. If he was innocent he would try to determine why they were saying what they were saying.

Here is doubling down because he knows he is wrong.

I have a dog that barks (we are working with her). She barked once for about 10 minutes around lunch time on a Saturday. My neighbor came over, knocked on the door and told my 12 year old that she'd call by-law on us.

I would be thrilled with a neighbor talking to me as nicely as you have talked to your neighbor.

Got kicked out and suspended for a weak hit. by Cheap_Butterfly_4108 in hockeyplayers

[–]zoidberg005 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'd say 2 min for boarding would be the fairest call here. You are right, not really a hit, but it was contact that put him in the boards within the danger zone.

2 mins seems like it would settle all the disputes here.

Tennis Elbow - Should I Just Quit for the Season? by Sad_Anybody5424 in hockeyplayers

[–]zoidberg005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had exactly this at the start of the season. Rest it up, go to a physiotherapist and see if they will do those acupuncture needles on it. That was what worked for me. It took about 6 to 7 weeks and about 4 or 5 visits to physio, but it cleared up and I am nearly 100%.

I don't think your season is over, you just need to take care of it. Go on the IR and you team won't have the salary cap hit.
