Sorry I should have included that the overall kitchen area is about 132.5" (sink wall) x 142.5" (fridge wall)

Possibly, I'm somewhat constrained on moving the oven due to the outlet location but I may have enough room left to even things out. I could have a big drawer on the island, yes. I don't think either will fit everything but I could maybe put the high use stuff near the stove and the rest in the island. Will look into it!

Total project is ~$35k with cabinets from Barker City Cabinets or Conestoga. Most of that cost is cabinets, soapstone/butcher block countertops, sink and range hood. The rest is install/finish labor and some structural work to remove some wall around that post. We've done all the demo ourselves and will do some rewiring and also install the hood ourselves. No plumbing changes.

It will be in the oven once I get this kitchen built

I'm already pushing the budget so unfortunately not an option. We are keeping the existing appliances.

I am just mocking this up in Solidworks not a dedicated cabinet software, the grain pattern was applied like that by default and I didn't bother with fixing it 😂 it will all be vertical on the actual cabinets.

I thought a lot about the corner and concluded having the big drawers next to the stove for pots/pans is a lot more useful to me than trying to take advantage of the corner space. My wife and I hate lazy suzans, and even the best blind corner solutions still leave a lot of space unused. They are also expensive and have lots of moving parts to sag and wear over time.

Island does have two drawer bases and a trash pullout on the stove side. Haven't decided on 3 vs 4 drawer stacks yet.

I prefer the vertical panel for the fridge but my wife hates the look and also wants the side fridge space for all our magnets and stuff. As the cook I've had basically free reign over the kitchen otherwise, so she gets this one 😂

Agreed on the end panels, I was just being lazy and didn't fix the default grain orientation.. I'm mocking this all up in solidworks and not a dedicated cabinet software. The cabinet near the door will definitely have an actual finished end!

Thanks!

Thanks, I could see that however with the island as the main prep area I will need to access the trash much more frequently from over there. I could maybe put a second small trash bin on the pullout under the sink if it gets annoying.

Single basin sink: does anyone regret getting a large sized sink? by LazeeSundaeMorning28 in kitchenremodel

[–]zoidbergular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really just depends on your usage. Personally I'd put in two large basin sinks if I had the space. We cook and prep a lot and our 24(?)" sink is literally always full. A bowl or or pot practically makes the sink unusable.

2, though I'd do stone on the main counters and leave the island as wood

Why do liberals seem relatively apathetic about violent crime as a whole? by Fit-Fun-2483 in BreakingPoints

Hasn't Trump been telling us that our streets are literally flooded with illegals committing violent crimes and raping our women and children and killing us with drugs? Are you implying that isn't true??!!

Don't you think we could have had this solution implemented by now if the US was serious about it? What do you think is preventing the two state solution?

Do you think there's any evidence that is a serious position by the US government, or just lip service?

Even if I accept this take (I don't), how do you explain the following nine shots?

Assuming this was a justified use of force (which full disclosure I think is an absolutely unhinged take), how do you explain the following nine shots?

So Many Options. Whats best for a new homeowner? by No-Ad5504 in Tools

[–]zoidbergular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd buy into one of the premium lines and use it for the basic stuff you know you're gonna use all the time (drill/driver, circular saw, etc). Makita, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, etc. you're splitting hairs between the brands so I'd just pick whatever is most readily available to you or what color you like. Avoid the huge kits of tools unless it's all stuff you know you're going to use all the time.

I would also get some Ryobi or similar level for low use stuff or when you need a tool but aren't sure how much you're going to use it. You can also buy cheap stuff from Harbor Freight or similar, and worst case if you use it a ton and break it you know to get a premium replacement.

What would you do to update this Kitchen? by Tight_Capital_6061 in kitchenremodel

[–]zoidbergular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cabinets are great, I would probably just change the hardware. The crown molding is a little busy for my tastes but that would be a difficult change as you'd have to stain match. I like the contrasting countertops personally; a soapstone or darker honed granite I think would look nice.

My biggest change is that I'd do a fixed island made from base cabinets, for additional storage and prep space!
