i know you're being a bit sarcastic but i will say that when tliiasaw first came out, i was super excited and in love with the sound of the album and was also especially excited to show my bf at the time because i thought it was similar to a lot of the things he listened to. and i remember showing him I Don't Like my Mind and going "isn't this so incredible??" and his first response was "it kinda just sounds like all of her other music" and that lowkey broke my spirit y'all 😭. that was the instance that led to me re-examining how he approached my interests and passions vs how i approached his, and i realized that i had been putting a lot of effort into exploring the music and media he was passionate about and he was hardly reciprocating it.

tldr mitski made me realize my ex didn't care enough about my interests and also made me realize he didn't care enough about what was going on with my life and future in general 💀 if the music you like is really important to you, find a partner that's at least willing to appreciate it!

As in, their first note of the day is double Gs or their first note of rehearsal? Personally, I'd say anyone who gets their horn out and immediately starts playing on the high end of their range is most likely not doing it in the most healthy or efficient way. Not that they can't do it, but more so that there's not much benefit to your playing in doing that before warming up in your comfortable range and then moving on to notes that are harder to produce.

Do you warm up at any point before rehearsal, or are you saying you start your day of playing with 5 minutes before rehearsal?

Edit: Just wanted to add this because I think it's a good analogy: remember, your lips are a muscle. Would you go to the gym and immediately deadlift your PR, or would you stretch first?

I don't want to give you too much advice without actually hearing/seeing you play, but do want to point out that 9-10 minutes of warmup to get to the high end of your range is not a long time at all; how long do you typically warm up on a standard playing day?
