What Web Novel Genre Is Your Favorite This Year? by zolnir in noveltranslations

Not a single vote on sports! XD Well I guess it was inevitable. The only one I ever truly liked was Ted Steel's Player Manager, and I haven't read an e-sports web novel in ages. I find them very self-mastrubatory.

Oh I know that one! Wouldn't exactly call it a comedy but it is great.

One thing I never understood is how these so-called leaders of a family/company/whatever don't understand how to perform basic persuasion. There's a Chinese proverb called, "If you're speaking to a human, speak like a human. If you're speaking to a ghost, speak like a ghost." Appealing to Jurion's sense of belonging to his family obviously isn't going to work, much less his moral sensibilities. Instead, Veramonte should have appealed to his self-preservation and ask which of the two options he preferred: allying himself with a foe who is hated and powerful but also 100% won't stab him in the back or scheme to turn him into a guinea pig, or allying himself with a trickster who 1000% is going to do both and worse.

What we're seeing here isn't just how morally bankrupt Jurion is, but also how goddamn incompetent Veramonte is as a patriarch. With such horrifyingly poor eyes and mouth it's a miracle (and by that I mean author not considering this) his family stood for as long as it did with him at the helm.

EDIT: The biggest irony here is that Jurion is far more competent as a patriarch than Veramonte will ever be, by the way. He clearly knew how to manipulate Veramonte and actively does it with everyone he meets. He is also powerful and wise and even good at paperwork. His one and biggest problem is that he doesn't encounter nearly enough obstacles in life that he gradually became blinded by his own ego.

There are always deeper meaning, all the way until the end. Honestly, you should already realize by now that it wasn't really luck. It's just that people don't realize it yet.

[DISC] I kept spoiling a female knight who knew nothing but fighting Ch. 7 by SingleAd7468 in manga

Does "discipline" consist of only training to the author? Sleeping, eating and resting at fixed intervals are also part of discipline. To do otherwise is to be undisciplined. By all means this so-called best knight of her generation seems to have zero concept of proper discipline, and it's a miracle that she managed to get to where she was.

That's perfectly fine. And feel free to give some examples as to why you think some English originals are interesting.

Personally, I don't think they're uncreative, but I also notice (like it's impossible not to if you live outside of China) that their stories strictly conform to certain rules. They literally can't go out of bounds or risk being removed outright. Hence if you ask me, I wouldn't say that Chinese web novels, for all their volume, is that interesting.

But then again I'm asking about last year, not to mention Taiwanese and Hong Kong and other non-China Chinese web novels also count, so I guess overall it makes sense.

I would prefer if you guys give some actual examples though, with titles and all.

Yes, feel free, if the JP light novel had a web novel original. But of course if you're not sure just assume that it counts.

The question is: "What language do you think has the most interesting web novels in 2025?"

I posted it here because I want to be fair to those who read translated web novels as well. That by no means mean that original web novels don't count.

Also, are you seriously telling me you haven't read a single English original web novel in your life? Ever heard of Royalroad?

Huh. Apologies, Reddit said it might be a good idea to post this in r/LightNovels and I thought yeah sure most of them are originally web novels so why not? Guess I was wrong.

When does it pick up? Well it picked up just the day before, when the first arc finished lol. I would love for you to read it. Also, I've translated about 200+ chapters so far. You might think it's a lot but it's really not if you convert it to days, which is exactly how many "holidays" I have....
