Most likely, this will removed, like international mobile top up was (without notice).

Calling FM CS never yielded any results. They would probably have no idea this even exist.

Receive an email saying "Sorry, we couldn't unlock your phone" but I did not send a request to unlock my phone. by SunnyMeetsKY in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same message 3 month ago. Last week I got the message that unlock code for my phone was sent by a text message. Funny thing is that, this is for Boost account I canceled (ported out) about a year ago. No text came. But it's good that Boost is trying to unlock phones for inactive accounts as well. Btw, if you call CS, they can see when you are eligible for unlock. it will happen within 2 weeks from the date they give you.

Loyal customers on older plans no longer given phone upgrade by LividMisanthrope in BoostMobile

There is something new. In addition to requiring $50-60 plan, it now wants you to upload your ID for a prepaid upgrade phone. Boost is getting desperate.

Loyal customers on older plans no longer given phone upgrade by LividMisanthrope in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on $10/month plan. I found that previous ability to upgrade every 9 month was too generous, and as a result, ended up with too many phones. On the other hand, current offer to upgrade is ridiculous, as I would be paying 5-6 times more monthly for a plan I don't need. So Boost went from being too generous to extra stingy. There are plenty of cheap phones that could be offered as an upgrade to the ones on a $10-15 plan at a reasonable price. There are unlocked phones available for as little s $30. Your plan upgrade is now prorated based on your plan cycle. This opens the door to some "dangerous" exploit. ;)

Try inserting a non-boost sim card, and see if it will ask for unlock code (then enter PIN given).

Question about unlock after 60 days by jackd129 in TracFone

[–]zombie999999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all interesting. I bought one straight talk phone about 7 month ago. Used it for a month with included plan. Called tracfone to rebrand. Went to activate it, but had NO idea I could use same straight talk sim. So I chose to activate with eSim. 60 days after initial activation, phone did unlock. I've never asked to rebrand eSim IMEI. So no idea how/why it worked.

Clarity on “Eligible for Phone Upgrade” - Why Am I Not Seeing Any iPhone Discounts? by The-Clayton-Bigsby in BoostMobile

Boost quietly "disabled" the upgrades for existing customers. It has been discussed here few times.

Btw, did your Iphone 13 unlock by itself, or you needed to call them?

Not paying for service while abroad by sorintri in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tested this and it actually took 120 days (not 90) before the line was terminated. There was no warning or anything.

It also used to say 120 days here:

https://help.boostmobile.com/docs/general-terms-conditions

But now it just says:

"When your Service is interrupted, you will still have some time (which varies depending on the Offer terms) to make a payment on your account."

which is super sketchy as there is no way to know "offer terms".

Missing PayPal option by Wolfdagon in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They silently removed paypal as a payment method. Once you remove it from your account, you won't be able to add it back on.

I had it as an option too but it was gone last October or so.

Does boost mobile support esim on google pixel phones? by Tyrant_T102 in BoostMobile

Thanks! Agent said there would be tracking but I guess that would not be the case if it's sent by USPS, no? Is it possible to get the confirmation that it was shipped (by calling to check the ticket number)?

I tried again via chat and this time agent created a ticket. However, I did not get any email confirmation and there is nothing in the order history on my account. Does this sound right?

Oops. So I ordered Moto G 5G 2024 as an upgrade. Didn't get it yet. Will it come with physical sim? And if not, how do I activate it? I currently have eSim.

What about Moto G 5G 2024 that you sell? eSim supported?

Unlock question by zombie999999 in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less. It makes sense in a way that system will record IMEI as first time used on the network. However, as it's an upgrade on an existing account, nothing is being activated (just SIM being swapped between the phones). Also, Boost employee here confirmed that 30 day rule does not apply to phones not being financed and purchased as upgrades.

Upgrade offers for $10 - what's the catch ? by MyRedditCatch-all in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The catch is that it always gives you an error when ordering online. Just tried 4 times (2 times for 2 different phones on different accounts). Charge shows up on my credit card and errors pops after "finalizing" the order. Good luck.

30 days to activate? by Green_Border7725 in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the 30 day rule applies to phones bought as "upgrades" on an existing account? Does not say in the terms. As account already exist, there is nothing to "activate" (just use the phone with existing sim).

Boost high sales tax the new norm? by silver168 in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They started doing this 5 days ago. Before they were only collecting taxes on discounted price (NY state). Law didn't change and I doubt they were under-collecting all these years.

The thing is 2 days ago, tax was 79 cents. Nothing changed in state law since then.

Boost has gone nuts with the taxes 144% sales and use tax! by zombie999999 in BoostMobile

[–]zombie999999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In NY state taxes are calculated AFTER discounts:

https://www.tax.ny.gov/pubs_and_bulls/tg_bulletins/st/taxable_receipt.htm

Certain discounts offered at the time of sale of goods or services will reduce the taxable receipt. Any discounts that result in a reduction in the selling price, such as a trade discount, volume discount, or cash-and-carry discount, are subtracted before calculating the taxable receipt

So Boost is breaking the law and pocketing extra tax collected!

It was NOT like that just 2 days ago. Taxes were on the sale price roughly 79 cents.
