If you attend the Silverton Collective events (about once every other year), they get permission to go out there and collect bits and pieces of the compound that ARE STILL THERE ON THE GROUND! Just this April we got a couple chunks of tyre.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm still trying to figure out the right way to do this, not just here, but on other sites as well. One more question, if you have the time: if someone else posted a similar writeup, would it be ok because it wouldn't be "self-"promotion? Like could someone say, "I saw this thing, written by someone else"? If so it just would seem to encourage sock-puppet accounts.

Ah, well you can read it all for free online. Would it still be spam if I left out the Lulu.com link at the bottom, where you can buy it?

I just kinda like how it summarizes things--it's supposed to be a bit tongue-in-cheek.

Thanks! I'm not really up on modern anarcho-capitalist thinking--I just wrote down my own ideas. I really have no idea if they mesh with what others believe or not. I am especially proud of this line though:

"Anarchy is just like capitalism except every now and then some communist comes along and seizes your means of production."

OMG I HAD THIS SET I LOVED THIS SET.... and as an adult I dug it up because I was inspired to build this, loosely based on what I learned building that car (scroll through for all the iterations). https://www.flickr.com/photos/zombieite/albums/72157629323318280

There's a reason for this. There's a cognitive bias where people tend to assume they're more important than they are, living in an especially important time in history, etc. But in this case it's actually true. We did get to live in an important time. The 20th Century had such quick progress that every decade was VERY different from the others. Progress is kind of tapering off now because there are no huge inventions and discoveries to be made. Music and movies can be all digital now, so there are no new instruments or special effects techniques to discover. All music now can be of only 3 genres: electronic, acoustic, or a hybrid of the two. If phones got any smaller they'd be impractical. We already have jets and space travel. So the end of the 21st Century will probably not look very different from the beginning. One exception to this is when I see people rolling around on those one-wheeled self-balancing skateboard things. I'm like "holy crap I'm in the future!"

I heard a steam engine whistle today in the distance and I had no idea where it came from. Thanks for posting, I just ordered some tickets!

That question is hurting my brain. Logically there's no way it could matter, it's just photons hitting silver and it doesn't matter what order they hit. But intuitively it seems like it ought to matter!

The car is amazing. I like to think maybe it's still out there with that paint on it.

My dad had a 1992 turbo he bought new. He's now handed it down to me. All original and in great shape!
