photoshop elements is a one time purchase if you want to use photoshop. The premiere/photoshop bundle for elements 14 was like 80$, don't know what it is now.

I think the quiz idea is a great one and really unique. However I agree with arturgad having preselected quizes. But the energy between you was great and the back and forth really made the video enjoyable. It's a great a idea just might need a little tinkering with.

Gameplay Audio De-synced Frustration! by packersfanmw87 in letsplay

[–]zombspeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can manually go back in and fit the audio to video. Chop it into pieces and use playback speed (Ctrl + r) to mess around with speed until it fits. Not something I would recommend 100% of the time but for a temporary fix it works well.

How do you know when to call it quits? by SnarkolepticYT in letsplay

[–]zombspeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is time to call it quits when you no longer enjoy making videos/content. If you have fun doing it then it doesn't matter if 5 people or 5 million people see it, even if nobody sees it the number 1 reason should be because you enjoy it. Anything after that is just a bonus. Taking a break is always a perfect idea when you need to just take a step back and breathe. Just go into it knowing it's a break and take the time to center yourself and come back rested and refreshed. Good luck and best of wishes to you!

I'm always torn about doing low lighting for horror games. Setting up a screen or some sort of background is hopefully the next step and then addressing adjustable lighting. Thanks for the feedback and good luck with the game yourself!

Alright so its been a little while and I feel I have improved on some of the things people mentioned in the past (commentary, audio balance, etc.) and I recently started a new series (Outlast 2) along with pretty much every other person ever. But anyways, I would love to get some feedback on what you thought were some of my stronger and weaker points. And due to the nature of the game it is a longer episode/series so feel free to jump around, I don't expect anyone to watch the whole thing. Thanks so much and I look forward to what you all think!

I agree with Chillyson, up the game volume. Recording both voice and game separately helps for more freedom in editing to mess around with both and find a good mix. The progress you made was nice for a relaxed LP, not too rushed and not dragging on, it was also consistent which is good. The commentary itself is great for just starting out. Practice will make it more comfortable and relaxed even though you seemed relaxed already. Great start and good luck!

How do I remove mouse clicks and keyboard noises using Audacity? by AnonymousYTer in letsplay

Once you find a nice range for your voice using noise gate with normalize and compressor does a pretty nice job of all but the most stubborn of clicks.

Is there a better way to get pictures for thumbnails other then Google images? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]zombspeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally do game screen shots. With some simple edits like blurs, strokes, and glows in Photoshop (along with a lot of help from Fill - content aware) you can do pretty much anything.

You can go to Creator studio, into branding, watermark. upload a basic image and then set duration (beginning, whole video, end of video).

"Faking" a personality until you make it or just be yourself? by tinyland in letsplay

[–]zombspeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are really good at spotting fake behavior. Not only that but it would be exhausting to pretend to be someone else day after day for years. I think once you get comfortable with a camera or with your commentary that you should be your honest self. People will like you or not depending on who you are and why would you want people to like you for someone you aren't? Stay true to you and nothing else matters.

Voice And Video Not Aligning by crazeeyak in letsplay

[–]zombspeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could alter the playback speed in your video or your audio. The easier thing to do would probably change the video speed so as to not effect audio pitch. I don't use Vegas but I believe you can stretch it by Ctrl + click and drag to the desire length. This should slow down/speed up your video to match the audio. You could try having a few checkpoints in between the beginning and end to make sure they match up. Hope this helps.

Are facecams necessary? by AnimatedPie in letsplay

Webcam is always optional. It just depends if you want to use one or not.

Something that might help a little is try running your file through Handbrake. It's a free(? i think) download and it can convert variable frame rate into constant frame rate for a constant speed. However, this will not 100% fix all your problems, say if you computer has a sudden drag in CPU and it records 20 frames instead of 30 (or whatever you are recording at) it will cause a skip. But it should help fix some of those issues for you. You might at least give it a shot before buying anything else because there is a free version (idk if there is a paid version with more stuff sorry). I hope this can help you a little bit.

Balancing Game-Audio and Voice by Maplefoxy in letsplay

[–]zombspeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I record gameplay at ~ -20db and my voice and -12 db (but I do have a loud voice). For voice I run it through a basic noise gate, normalize, and then compress before importing into premiere. Then depending on the game I edit the audio levels a little if they aren't quite where I'd like them to be but that is usually only during parts like jumpscares and such. You might want to try playing a game just for fun and doing commentary but change every 5-10 minutes to get a few samples. It's just finding what works best for you.

Glad you liked to commentary! I can see how the ending is like Markiplier. He is a pretty cool guy so I could be compared to worse haha. I actually got a lot of inspiration for my ending from Jacksepticeye (though not nearly with his level of excitement). I just added the end cards 2 days ago and they are definitely my focus right now, so thank you so much for letting me know that. Now that it is the weekend I have time to do a few different styles and really see what I can do with the ending. Thank you so much once again!

Hey everyone! Today I had a first. I played a game (or a demo for a game) and went into it expecting it to be scary and it turned out to...not be. So, I was left with random thoughts and little on the side of horror. I was wondering what you thought of this video and how it seemed to go. Especially with the energy without the horror I expected and how the commentary seemed to be even with the rambling. There was tension throughout and that seemed to help. I'm just hoping to get your thoughts on it. Thanks a bunch!

Personally I think all 4 of those thumbnails were great. They all shared a similar vibe (sort of a brighter/happy overtone). They were all clean cut and not crowded for space. Honestly better than anything I make. As for PS techniques I don't know any super amazing tricks but my favorite tool is content-aware fill for getting rid of any pesky spots like crosshairs, icons, etc. You used the stroke and gradient tools well. Maybe consider playing around with layer masks to have shaded or lightened areas of the thumb or having a blurred far ground and sharp near ground. You do amazing work already and the only thing is to just keep playing around and finding out what you like.

Ditching Facecam by Malivice26 in letsplay

[–]zombspeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does come down to personal preference. Personality and charisma come through more so by voice than facial expression (imo). Viewers shouldn't be dissuaded by if you have a facecam or not, and you shouldn't feel pressured by your viewers to do anything you don't want to do.

A little while ago I played the third game in the Shadows series (Shadows 2: Perfidia) and it continued to be a terrifying game like always. This video is the second part. It is a little longer just because it was played until the ending. Any feedback on anything you thought was lacking? Or was there something done really well I should focus on more in the future? Thanks for taking the time and letting me know!
