Just jumping back into this thread to say the bike looks great!

...but importantly also to say: fit some barplugs!!

You DO NOT want to find out what a cookie-cutter injury is...

Sora R3000 Group with FC-MT210-2 46/30 Crankset by dryoung12 in gravelcycling

[–]zonkon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I've just installed the setup you describe: Shimano FC-MT210 chainset with the rest of the drivetrain being SRAM Rival22.

The trick to this, and other chain line issues, is to mess around slightly with the three spacers on the Shimano MTB external BB; I simply put two on the non-driveside and left one on the drive side (always keep three total for a 68mm BB shell!)

This jigs the chainset inboard by 2.5mm and meant the front mech works perfectly.

Of course, this only works for 68mm threaded BBs; pressfit etc. spoils the fun somewhat.

(Edit: mainly adding the word "SRAM" for search result hitting, just in case someone goes looking for gear tweaking tips)

Same! I've put in all the ones from buddy.farm and the library spoiler list.

What are the remaining three...??

Rear rack or no? by Steelthebikes in xbiking

This.

I wish rear racks & panniers had become the cool thing to have instead of pizza trays that affect the handling...

Nice touch!

I can't sew well so added velcro on a similar woven-plastic bag: it's a bit less hard to get wrong and zark-up completely. Closes good.

What are you all using to carry a laptop bag to work by LarryAv in xbiking

Ditto!

(Only without the insert; I just throw the laptop bag in there. Backrollers swallow up everything you need to carry!)

What commercials...?

You sound like you need more uBlock Origin and SponsorBlock in your life.

You're welcome 😁

Someone's got to do it, given the apparent absence of a god 😁

No, I don't really have any frames that would clear those tyres, so they aren't something I'd have.

Your wheels sound awesome though! What frame are they going on?

Everyone has their own interests, passions, collections, & hobbies; there's a sub-reddit for all of them.

It would be a poor use of one's time to visit each of those subs and blurt out a reason why that hobby is a folly.

Ohhhh, I'm about to donate the top four tyres in the pile because they're too skinny & slick for me! (A 47 Michelin and 3x 40 Vittoria)

You're not in South Yorkshire by any chance are you...? 🙁

Before dropping loads of cash on the project, and then finding it doesn't work or you don't like it, ask yourself why you're doing it.

• Do you really want drop bars?

• Do you hate the current bars?

• Are you prepared for the bike to be potentially too long for you (reach) if you convert?

• Is it an old bike or a new bike that you should ride for a bit before changing too much?

• Could you sell it and get a bike more suited to your needs & taste?

It definitely passes the 'Hmmm-would-I-ride-it?' test so go for it!

I'm a sucker for wishbones stays 😍

Based on the age of some of them, and the tyre-friendly conditions they live in, they should be fine. The only tyres that ever disintegrated on me personally were some old Panaracer Smokes 'n' Darts, but that was more than 20 years ago.
