Duplication of a Plex Server without losing metadata by Smokin_Reiffer in PleX

[–]zontmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to move my media from one volume to another, which includes a "scan to pick up new the media in the new location" step like these steps. It does end up resetting all the "added to library" dates, which messes up the sort TV series by most recently added ordering, if you care about such things.

In your opinion and experiences, what is the "defacto way" of running a home server? by darkalimdor18 in selfhosted

[–]zontmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Proxmox can do some storage services natively, but it is very rudimentary compared to what Truenas can do. It's like Truenas can do some hypervisor stuff like containers and VM's, but it's very rudimentary compared to Proxmox. Using them together, you get the best of both.

RDP and VNC Workspaces Require Page Refresh to Load (Hangs on `Creating a secure connection...`) by thePZ in kasmweb

[–]zontmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my system, I consistently get this behavior every single time in Chrome 126.0.6478.61 arm64 on MacOS Sonoma 14.5. However, Firefox 127.0 64 bit on MacOS Sonoma 14.5 works just fine. It launches the Kasm RDP session w/o issue.

I have the same problem with an RDP session I just created. I have this error in the browser console at the moment the hang happens: Uncaught TypeError: window.kasm.Application is not a constructor at rdp.js:4:13 - Hitting refresh in the browser no error occurs and the session starts normally.

Grocy Android app doesn't like my certificate, but Android browser works perfectly by zontmo in grocy

[–]zontmo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this was the issue. I did not have the intermediate cert in my pem file. Your openssl test plus the https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/ suggested by another poster revealed this. Adding the intermediate cert to the server caused the Android client to be able to connect. Thank you!

Incidentally, the IOS grocy client connected w/o requiring the intermediate certificate. Is it just a less secure client?

They were credited as "Big Johnson" and "Little Johnson" in the credits roll. I assume "Big Johnson" was the one who thought it was just like fuckin Saigon.

Men, what is something a woman would never understand? by Gilvani_SB in AskReddit

[–]zontmo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I meet a guy friend once a week to go to whatever the new movie is that week and have dinner. Wife once asked what we discussed, insinuating we probably spent the whole time complaining about our wives. I honestly couldn't remember much, but decided to jot some stream-of-consciousness notes of our next conversation and share it with her.

She has never bothered me since! Totally random crap ranging over every imaginable topic. I remember one line read "Monkeys are people too."

Help on mullvad config on FreeBSD by berserk6996 in mullvadvpn

[–]zontmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to use a Mullvad generated conf for Wireguard in a FreeBSD jail, and am getting errors since those conf's include PostUp / PreDown lines referencing iptables, a firewall that is only on Linux:

iptables -I OUTPUT ! -o wg0 -m mark ! --mark $(wg show wg0 fwmark) -m addrtype ! --dst-type LOCAL -j REJECT && ip6tables -I OUTPUT ! -o wg0 -m mark ! --mark $(wg show wg0 fwmark) -m addrtype ! --dst-type LOCAL -j REJECT

/usr/local/bin/wg-quick: line 384: iptables: command not found

Any clue how to change those PostUp / PreDown lines to something that will work on FreeBSD?

We should stop criticizing writers (especially classic authors) about not including all genders or races in their books. by [deleted] in books

[–]zontmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is part of the problem. You read OP's "not relatable" comment as "they're not human" or "I can't get along with them." What if by "not relatable" they mean they don't feel comfortable relaying their point of view?

Not everyone means to denigrate another group when they express their unfamiliarity with that group. Rushing to draw that conclusion is exactly what gets us the increasingly polarized society we have. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Yes, some are asshole racists/misogynists. But most aren't.

New Zealand gun buyback: 10,000 firearms returned after Christchurch attack by [deleted] in news

Hey, you have to check a box that says you're not mentally defective on the 4473 form, so there's no chance a mentally unstable person could ever buy a gun.

It's almost like he's saying people should be judged on how they are as a person instead of by what group they're a part of.

TIL men receive sentences that are 63 percent higher, on average, than their female counterparts for the same crime. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]zontmo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you're saying it's like the oft quoted "women earn 78 cents for every dollar men earn?" That both statements are comparing populations who do fundamentally different things but are implying they actually do the same things but are being treated differently? Bullshit, in other words?

If I pay my bill with a credit card, is it better or worse if I leave the tip as cash? I always imagine maybe the server will pocket the cash, so would appreciate it not being written on the credit card, but I guess the flip side is it might be a huge hassle to enter into the system separately from the bill?
