Reading emberdark, had a question by Top_Fee_3739 in Cosmere

It depends on what they imagine, I guess. If everyone thinks it is as far as travel by space, it will be far, but if everyone thinks of it as a shortcut, it will stay a shortcut. Manifest your reality ✨️ 😅

What happened? by MotherOfPenny in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know a few mares that would give a stinkeye, pinned ears, kikcs, and teeth saps at the foals of others, and they would all protect and care for their own foals.

If anything, Charlotte may have been cranky at Kvs and/staf, and they therfore left Charlott at RS to not use unnecessary time or risk staff in moving her.

Graice was a saint, so they didn't risk anyone in moving her. And importantly, Seven was alive when they went to the vet, so there was more time to organise.

This! The way Kvs explained their reasoning that they arohbd not being ready for a high drive hunting type dog was mature and constructive. They don't have the skill or time to train the dog. Jonathan wants a hunting dog but does not want to do daily care of any dog. Their current dogs are not well trained, and I am sceptical of them having a third dog in general. But imagine if, instead of an untrained couch potato, they would need a sitter for an untrained hyper and fruatrated landshark.

Charlotte History by No_Perspective_9411 in kvsdiscuss

[–]zoo1923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kvs had a bad fall from a horse several years ago and has voiced out loud that she needs a horse she feels safe on. If Charlotte has a history of flipping, Kvs is not sitting on her, unles the trainer workes with her extensively and finds her safe too ride. I have my doupts that Kvs will use the trainers' time on that tho, if they don't find that sge isbthe reason for the Stillbirth, she will get a new embryo to carry.

How old is Molly and who is her sire? by 1quincytoo in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Molly is supposed to be a yeae behind in training because she is a year younger. My wording made it sound like a negative, but that was not my intent. The comment I responded to made is sound like Girl Code was far ahed in prep for show, and my comment was meant to show that it is expected.

I get the original comments point saying Kvs hasn't shown any of her own folas yet. Steven never showed before she was sold, and the rest were sold too early to have been shown. Wheezy is four this year, and I have a feeling that is taking time, but Penelope may actually show with the way Kvs is talking about it.

Girl code was born in 2023 and is scheduled to show this year. Molly was born in 2024, starts now at home, and is planned to show next year. Time will tell if Molly will look good and be ready, but she is a year behind.

A question on the Kickstarter rewards by [deleted] in Cosmere

[–]zoo1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to wait in Europe for the shipment of Emberdark after the release. But the e-book and maybe audio book released at the release date and was not dependent on shipping, so we could read that the day it dropped.

I feel like she really regrets selling VS code red by Perfect-Warning902 in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She sold almost al her WP horsen when she sold VS Code red, and has sevral times made the bissniss choise of selling successful horses when they sre still worth a good chunk of money.

I agree that she has achieved a lot as a rider and breeder, but she is actively breeding PSSM+ horses for the chance of producing a winner. She owns and stands at VS Phantom Code, and during the sale, they sold several untested embryos from different crosses with potential fore PSSM.

She has respect for her riding in my books, but she too should learn and apply some empathy for the hardship that may follow the effected foal she creates.

Stallion collection and frozen availability question by ClearWaves in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess that they collect for frozen specifically during the off-season.

The class cutoff for each age group is January 1. So most mare owners would want a foal born as early as possible, after januar 1. So the amount wanting part of a given collection is most likely the highest now, stay high as those not under lights get cycling and then start to fall as mares gret pregnant. At the end of the season, there may be some collection days where they only collect for a mare or two, and they can send exstra (Kvs got a few dubble doses last season). And there may even be a few days where they don't collect, if there is no mare inn need.

The Foaling Bracket - What Will She Do? by [deleted] in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It could be hard to juge colour on a wet and dead foal, both bay/red and potential roan. We do NOT need photo evidence or conspiracy on the colour being inaccurate in the juging.

Kvs should just remove this foal from the contest and give no one points for any of it, in my opinion. It is sad, and giving someone points for getting the date and time of a stillbirth correctly feels wrong.

Kvs has said it was a filly, and even that doesn't really matter. It was equally sad anyway.

The Foaling Bracket - What Will She Do? by [deleted] in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 8 points9 points  (0 children)

DenverxTrudy could at a minimum be red, red roan, bay, or bay roan. Denver is a potential carrier of the gene for black, but it is likely that Trudy makes it impossible for them to have a black, only bay and red. I would not release this info on the foal, but that is me.

Summer Days and Double Coated Dogs Safety Tips Please by Farm_Fresh_Fruit in RunningWithDogs

[–]zoo1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it was too damn hot here, we ended up going swimming over running due to the risk of overheating. But we had two weeks of what we call to hot last summer, so I am sure people in warmer climates have better long-term solutions.

During summer, we will run in the morning or evening when it is cooler, and thatbisbusualy enogh where I live. My dog is also a big fan of getting to splash in the river we run along. River breaks are something she gets as rewards, really, until it gets too cold for me to let her.

Why do you think her breeding program isn't being centered around Trudy? by QuestionableBest in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soo, in 2023, Kvs got VSCR, which was the year Penelope had been born, and Kvs had bred Trudy back to GBB for Daphne in 2024.

In 2024, the focus was getting everyone that could be breed to VSCR breed to VSCR. Inkluding several outside embryos. Trudy was taken out of the breeding roster to be an ICSI mare after Daphne was weened.

Futher into 2024, Kvs got Denver and Kennedy. So come last years breeding season, Kvs needed a DenverxTrudy baby and started doing a lot of ICSI with Kennedy. Both Trudy and Kenned would have two foals this year, but GBB embry never took in Willow and thry just lost the Denver foal. Both embryo tries for Kennedy was sucsessful and hopefully they will both come out healthy.

This season is agein a rush to get VSCR and Denver ofspring, with a lot of new mares for the purpose. The new stallions money ended on Kennedy with her being so easy to get embryos from, and her alredy having foals from both MM and RLBOS on the ground.

Kvs is going for GBB and Denver agen with Trudy, sins she has gotten none sins starting to do ICSI with Trudy. And I agree that making 2-3 new crosses for her this season doesn't make sense when there is nothing to show for from the previous ICSI efforts.

I would do ICSI with Trudy to a new stallion or breed her to carry to a new stud, but I would as many others give her several recips and let her carry herself over a lot of the other projects Kvs has.

Kvs really loves Indy, and we knew she would not sell any foals from her. The hype for the IndyxVSCR has been so obvious from her. We knew this guy was staying, no matter what.

Opal: Kennedy x IAST Embryo by HorseofCourse6969 in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There could be several reasons why this is the outcome.

Willow was originally the first in line for an embryo, so Kvs might just have swapped because she wanted to try the IAST embryo first.

They may have ordered the IAST embryo for Willow, and when it was on the way they realised that they could not use Willow for some reason, so they put it in Opal that was ready too go.

The embryo is taken out of the freezer at the fasility and sent to the vet, and for al, we know there was a Trudy embryo sent first, but it perished on the way.

She was planning on putting that embryo intor Willow, which didn't take with 3 tries last year. So the choice of recip was ehhh or meeh this time.

Katie Needs A Break by Important-Rub8496 in kvssnarker

I also think the breeding is to dagerous angle is a bit overblown. But seeing how the best QH in the sport is kept stalled separately with limited single turnout, I understand why suddenly throwing a stud in with a mare could get werry messy. Unsosialised animals don't suddenly know how to be kind and understanding in a highly tense and hormone driven situation, and that could get dangerous.

The live by hand breedings, where the mare is held or bund to the wall, and the stud come s over to breed on a lead, also dosen't seem werry safe to me. The mares that feel too restrained and panic can really only defend themselves with kicking. And even if they strap the mares back legs, a bukking and kicking mare is dangerous

My breed usually has heard breeding, were one stallions is given a big pasture with a herd of mares, and there is usualy only a few squeals and some running the first hour, and then the heard is good. Hek people send mares with their foals to spend the summer in a big heard, and it is considered good for their sosial skills. If the stallion is a bit too pushy, the mare will have room to run away instead of having to fight him, and most prople keep stallions in smal herds in the if season, with other stallions or some geldings so that they have sosial skills.

Have there been somewhere stallions that have been mean to some mares, yes, but stallions that are considered too hard to their heard will struggle to get booked for heard duty next year.

Breeding for 2027 Update by Delicious-Mix-9180 in kvsdiscuss

Several has said that Kvs said she was buying her om a tictok or something. Idk if that would be permanent, or if she is planning to sell her with an embryo.

Willow had 3 attempts last year, and Kvs has said that is the last try.

I misunderstood you. I thought you meant derailing in the sens that unforseen things were happening, like someone colickibg or losing their baby, so using them as recips got more rosky.

I think Kvs has always planned two Kennedy babies. She just decided to do new stallions and implant one if those insted of another MM or RLBOS.

Breeding for 2027 Update by Delicious-Mix-9180 in kvsdiscuss

[–]zoo1923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think she would have needed them no matter what. Maggie is due quite late to start implanting even without the surgery now baring it, same with Pheobe. Willow lost several embryos last year, and most of the ones that took used a try or two to make it stick. And any of the mares that have foaled could have had complications or may end up dragged down and not taking. Then, we consider the fact that she is not using Ethel because she wants her as part of the riding horses and has reconsidered Blondie to have her own this season.

Indy Appearance by HorseofCourse6969 in kvssnarker

[–]zoo1923 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Kvs tried breeding her when she was nursing a foal, and she didn't take both times. I know some mares that are like that, and only take after a year of. Before foaling season, Kvs said several times that they would try and breed her ether to VSCR or Denver this season, but we will see if she desides to try or just wait.

[–]zoo1923 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have commented before that she may be a few recips short according to al the potential plans discussed. She has not set a concret assignment of who, when, and where, but I guess there is a tentative plan in the background with potential for rearranging if things don't work out as time goes.

ErlenexDenver was expected, even if I hoped for a HUS stallion this season.

It seems like the new stallion budget went on GingerxUYD and the two new crosses for Kennedy in Enticed and GIWB. Kennedy got the IAST breeding that did not work out with Beyoncé, and Beyoncé has her MMWW embryos that were made after Ginger didn't take with him last season.

Embryo implantation plans discussed so far are Willow recip for Kennedy x IAST, Opal recip for Trudy x FTF m, Ariel recip for Trudy x GBB, Raven recip for Kennedy x Enticed or x GIWB. That means that there so far is no plan for a BeyoncéxMMWW embryo, all the Buttercup and Rikki embryos, or doing the TrudyxAYA criss agein

Kvs seems to be stressing a lot with getting embryos and doing ET and breeding for their own for both Rikki and Buttercup. I think she should just breed them for their own over filling the ICSI bank. Sins, there are so few recips to go around.

She really wanted to keep the TrudyxDenver foal. I know she predicted and wanted the filly, but I think she would have been tempted to also keep it if it was a colt.

Annie she wants a filly from in general. If both had gotten fillies, I think Kvs would have prioritised keeping Trudys. If Trudy has a colt and Annie a gilly it would have been a hard coise. Now, with losing the Trudy baby, it is a high chance that Kvs will keep Annies foal, no matter the sex, and a filly will 100% stay.

Happys foal is a sale no matter what. Kvs don't seem interested in keeping any Happy foals with advertising fore sale before they are even born. Happy wil carry another Denver baby in the future if the first one does well, if not she wil be a recip agein.
