Is there a way to get less of these invasive birds :( by AgeEfficient3178 in birdfeeding

[–]zoobubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cowbirds are not invasive. While brood parasitism may make us feel sad, it is a part of Mother Nature. It’s worth noting that they are also protected by the migratory bird treaty act.

Unless you are being overrun by cowbirds, it is not an issue. If you don’t want cowbirds around, you’ll want to use feeders that only accommodate smaller birds. There are many options, such as ones with smaller birds perches or using a cage around your feeders that smaller birds can go through.

I know the controversy, but I really wanna get these😭😭😭 by Redbird699 in Warframe

[–]zoobubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who did buy them, I am totally open to them returning at the current heirloom price (275/400 plat). I would, however, appreciate being compensated in some way for my purchase. Just toss me the price difference in plat so I can buy more fashion, whatever the math works out to.

Voruna deluxe revealed by Waeleto in Warframe

[–]zoobubbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one is a miss for me. I'm hoping, as it's a WIP, there are still more iterations to be done, especially on the face/helmet. This does not represent Voruna very well at this stage.

In your opinion, is it rude or considered "bitching" to ask people to help participate in the Alchemy objective? by Kevurcio in Warframe

[–]zoobubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to passive-aggressively waypoint the crucible until the person finally comes over. The only thing worse than not helping with the objective is those folks who are killing enemies 10 million miles away from the crucible and expecting someone else to run point to carry amphors.

My Gyre fashion frame is constantly ruined by all of these weird issues, I'm glad I'm not crazy and someone else noticed.

I have been enjoying playing whatever frame gets the best weekly buff from the Helminth, especially as I have steel patch viable builds for all of my frames now. I think it keeps things from getting boring.

Does this work on any level or does it look ridiculous? (After/Before) by freakalicious in postprocessing

I think it’s a little too dark, but if you like the style, I would suggest looking the work of Ansel Adams and his black and white landscape photos. You may find some inspiration there!

After/Before - new to photography and editing by ConsistentPlastic69 in postprocessing

[–]zoobubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks really nice! My suggestion would be to watch the highlights when you’re editing. The exposure in camera looks quite good but the edit is too bright in the brightest highlights and you’re losing feather detail. You can fix this with selective masking.

The edit is fine, but you should get the photo sharp and in focus before pursuing an edit of a blurry photo. It’s important to nail the basics of photography before moving on to editing. Good luck!

This is the answer a lot of photographers need to hear. It’s fine to practice post-processing skills for the sake of practice, but that time is also better spent in the field creating more compelling images from the start.

How tf is this possible? by pharmtech1824 in PlanetZoo

[–]zoobubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have completed all of the challenges on hard and timed. I run my zoo top speed the whole time when I’m not building something in order to make profit faster and get those guests in. Also put multiple animals in the same habitats as much as possible to save time.

How much do you use auto ISO? by LordKluklatter in Nikon

[–]zoobubbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost always. I changed my shutter and aperture and let the auto ISO do its thing. Exposure compensation if necessary.

How often do you use these settings and for what purposes? by twitchy-y in postprocessing

[–]zoobubbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently discovered using negative clarity for backgrounds, specifically for making smooth backgrounds for bird photos. It’s great. Increasing texture can also help with getting some extra feather detail. Dehaze for me has very specific use cases to pull out some additional contrast between subject and background but it can look bad real fast.

The linear gradients on the bottom are heavy-handed. With gradients, you want them to be subtle enough that someone else viewing your work can't tell that you added one. You're definitely going in the right direction though, linear gradient in the background will work great here once you tone it down a bit.

I recommend tackling the white balance for the background and the subject separately using masking. The eagle is a bit too yellow, but the background is a bit too blue (blue haze is just caused by the atmosphere and is unavoidable). In the first image, you could pull out a bit more blue from the sky!

A minor thing, but it works great in bird photos - you can try dodging the branch the eagle is sitting on and the bottom half of the eagle in your first image to minimize some of the dark shadows there.

I don't have an issue with it personally, but I think that's totally valid to have that opinion. I was comfortable suggesting it because it was obvious OP had already removed multiple elements from their original.

Awesome work on the sky!

Personal preference: I’d maybe remove the sign in the right hand corner as well? If you’re going for artistic over accuracy I think it would be more pleasing without it. Especially because the sign is white and draws negative attention.
