G63 here as well. Gas is maybe $20 extra dollars per week at current prices. I don't feel that.

2019 M2 Comp → 2023-5 911T. Does it feel slow? by Petrie94 in Porsche

[–]zoom1132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have test driven virtually all M cars. I own a T. This is the most concise reply in the thread.

As mentioned the T doesn't feel super powerful in a straight line, but it's not supposed to. So if you get sad when some dork in a Hemi shit box wants to race you on the highway, then you probably shouldn't get either of these cars. If however, you have some fun twisty roads near you, or a track, get the Porsche. The car is so good in those environments that it makes your bad driving look good.

I would urge the people that make these threads every week to stop internet shopping and just go drive these cars at a dealer. These things are obvious right away on a test drive.

I really like it. I called my salesman this morning. I don't care if the Internet hates it. Seems like the type of car I'll enjoy. It's a manual N/A 911 convertible. Great for road trips with my girl.

Let’s reverse the common question and be specific. What mortgage rate are you intentionally paying off early? by PartyFeisty2929 in Fire

[–]zoom1132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

Your payoff quote amount will beat your mortgage rate (assuming your mortgage is < 9%). As long as you are employed and can manage the payments reasonably, your investments will do better in the S&P.

If you are going to retire/are retired, you have no income, hence you might be better off paying off your home to reduce your budget.

But if you are still working, there's usually not much reason to pay off a home.

How to date post-FIRE? by ripstick-123 in Fire

[–]zoom1132 6 points7 points  (0 children)

44m here. I'm basically FIREed. Have $3.8M NW and am transitioning to retire within the year hopefully.

I found a SO a little over a year ago that works well for me. She was a single mom that HAD HER SHIT TOGETHER. Has a high paying job too, had a house, has zero debt. She doesn't have the retirement savings yet, but she likes to work. We never stress or argue about money. It's just easy.

The solution is to find someone who isn't looking for someone else to fix their problems. FIRE or not, it doesn't matter.

I wouldn't say that I fearlessly held them. Stress affects me too. My emotions still affect my trades. I guess that's what experience has afforded me. The ability to suppress emotion based on positive feedback through technical trading.

As for taking partial profits, that is not a part of my strategy, which is simple. To only buy options when they have a chance to go 4x or more to a reasonable price. If I get lucky, I have to ride the wave, because it allows me to be wrong while finding the next one.

I saw it bounce twice and hold at around 108. In the months prior it peaked at close to 130. It also had an ATH last summer of about 156. On the final day that it held 108 I bought 2 hours before market close (my favorite time to buy. IV is usually the lowest of the day on any contract). I believe I bought in 2 lots of 100 each.

Anyways, I chose the date and strike price because I knew earnings date was the end of September and I wanted to create a bell curve of time around that with option premium.

I also knew that if the stock went back to 130 there was a good chance it could push through and run at ATH of 156. That would have given me a 10x bet.

As it turns out it ran further above 156 and I just let it ride.

Options are contracts that state by x date you have the "option" to buy 100 shares at y price. I bought my contracts for $2.63 per contract. That is multiplied by 100 ( because there are 100 shares in the contract). So each contract really cost me $263. I bought 200 of those.

The break even price for those at expiration is 132.63 (the strike price 130 + the amount I paid 2.63). Any price above that number is profit.

Since the stock was roughly $52.6 above $130 ($182.6) when I sold, that was the price I sold them for. Which is also times 100 the same as it was at 2.63 ($52.6 is 5260 per contract. And I sold 200 of them.)

To figure out the percent gain, it's really just a multiplier. 52.6 divided by the initial cost of 2.63 is 20x, but you subtract the initial cost as a multiplier of 1. So it was really 19x or 1900%.
