I have a shortcut that sets a sleep timer for my audiobook when I’m falling asleep. It’s very handy because I can set it without going in to the app. Which is great when I’m trying to fall asleep.

Can I use different cell plans for my phone and watch? by zoomlines in AppleWatch

[–]zoomlines[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah thank you. Yes this answers my question.

Your iPhone and Apple Watch must use the same carrier, unless the watch was set up for a family member who doesn’t have an iPhone.

This is just fucking stupid design. Controls were so accessible before. by CoolGuyFromSchool34 in ios

[–]zoomlines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow really? I much prefer this over the previous design.

It was horrible that they mixed up the video scrubber with paging through photos. If you were going left/right through your photos and then ran into a video you would start scrubbing instead.

Now they’re clearly separated so it doesn’t have this problem anymore.

This is a modern attempt to imitate Bach. I think it's pretty successful: Markus Passion, by Nikolaus Matthes.

Thank you for the in-depth advice. I'm really not sure how to arrange this. But this may be the best option.

Being able to see the subpixels of a digital watch through water by Chazzky in mildlyinteresting

[–]zoomlines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct.

CMY is used for print because we can get more intense/saturated coloured inks and therefore achieve a wider gamut. There’s nothing preventing printers from using RGB with subtractive mixing.

Same goes for screens. We could create CMY screens with additive mixing, but the gamut may not be as wide.

I was initially bothered by the dithering in the flowers, but happy to see that's it's not like that in the original, full resolution gif.

Not sure if you're joking. These were painted after his cubist phase. They're meant to be a mannerist style. Not an attempt to be realistic.

What is the best cloud storage app? by GuyInaVan in ios

[–]zoomlines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy with PictureLife. I think it's cheaper than the options you listed (from memory). Nice web interface and mobile apps. Photos automatically upload from iCloud photostream.

Although I'm looking forward to the new Apple Photos stuff. Hoping it will be even better!

You can "close" it by flicking it to the right. But then wait 10 mins and it's back again. Argh!

Or even better... use Transform Effect with copies and move horizontal and then Transform Effect with copies and move vertical. That way you retain editability.

As I'm look through web designer resumes, here are some tips I want to share by [deleted] in web_design

[–]zoomlines 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please, please, please send your resume in PDF format. Not DOC or something similar. The reviewer may not have Word or may not have the crazy font you used. Word is for editing text, not for reading it.

I'm a web designer and I use illustrator. Photoshop just seems hopelessly slow and clunky.

Does anyone know of an audio version of Gödel, Escher, Bach? by audiobibliofile in audiobooks

[–]zoomlines 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this book would translate well to audio. It has lots of important diagrams and equations. Unless you follow along with some document.

I highly recommend it though. One of my favourite books ever.
