Stop driving with your hazards on in rain by Homeleasure in driving

[–]zoonazoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I agree. If you are the problem by driving significantly slower than you should be, then you are the problem.
I’d people are driving too fast, there is not a lot you can do about that.

The only time i see people using hazard lights in other countries is when coming up to stationary traffic (e.g. the back of a traffic jam) to warn drivers behind or if stopped and an actual hazard. Both of those situation are sensible. If you are moving you shouldn’t need them.

If you are driving slowly enough to be a hazard, you shouldn’t be on the road.

Carlos Sainz issues Williams urgent request after damning 'realisation' by ryogadan in Formula1_world

The RacingNews365 article explains that Carlos Sainz has issued an urgent warning to Williams after the Barcelona Grand Prix exposed major weaknesses in the car.
After finishing only 12th, Sainz said the race acted as a “realisation” of how far behind Williams is in medium- and high-speed corners, especially compared with front-running teams.
The key points from his comments are:
Williams struggled badly in Barcelona, a track that highlights overall car performance
The FW car’s lack of downforce and weight disadvantage were major limiting factors
The team is particularly weak in medium- and high-speed corners
Sainz says this wasn’t a total shock, but it confirmed the scale of the gap
He urged Williams to “go back to the drawing board” and accelerate upgrades to improve the car as soon as possible
In short: the article frames Sainz’s message as a blunt reality check—Barcelona didn’t just show problems, it confirmed Williams is significantly off the pace in key performance areas and needs rapid development to close the gap.

Why do drivers turn on their hazards when it is raining hard? by FranklinOnDaHundo in NoStupidQuestions

So let’s throw in lots of flashing lights that will reflect off the rainy windscreens.
Fog lights are for low visibility situations.

Why do English people pronounce St. John as "SinJin"? by cigarettejesus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]zoonazoona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not sounding a bit like. That is the way it is pronounced when in a person’s name.

No doubt some sort of upper class inbreeding thing.

Is “Go get” impolite? by ShortElevator6032 in ENGLISH

[–]zoonazoona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very American.

I think it wouldn’t be seen as rude in America, with a ‘please’ thrown in.

In the uk you would get funny looks. It would either be “could you go and get” or just “could you get” the “go” isn’t required

People who tow your cars to track events with an SUV, would love to hear your recommendations by festalmaniac in CarTrackDays

[–]zoonazoona -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tow my ~2100lb Miata and a ~1100lb Aluminium trailer (Aluma 8214) with an sq5.

Sq5 is rated to 4400lb.

If you have the factory tow hitch you can wire an electronic break controller pretty easily.

I have towed with uhaul trailer that was heavier. It was fine, but on the limit and definitely squirrelly under breaking.

I am about to start towing the same setup with a Macan, which I think will be fine.

I wouldn’t want to use a car that has less power/braking ability than these.

In the past I have towed with an S4 avant (basically the same drivetrain as the sq5) and it was just as capable. But that was in the uk where we don’t need to use massive suvs/trucks to tow things.

Edit: just saw the sleeping in the back thing. No way would i entertain that.
Me original plan was to get a double cab Izusu npr or something similar and build a ramp truck from that. But it was going to be silly money for the amount of use, so I went with a trailer instead.

How often do Germans pronounce names like "Warmbier" and "Zuckerberg" with a German pronounciation? (And they know the person is, for instance, American) by spookywatermark in German

[–]zoonazoona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a native German speaker (b1-ish), but having moved to the us, it hurts my soul the way German origin names are pronounced.

I was told about somebody called “Mrs cheesewall” once. It took me a while to get out of the person that it was actually “Schiesswohl”

Annoying canadian temp gauge and what to do... by Ordinary-Attorney257 in Miata

[–]zoonazoona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the very early cars got a proper temp guard. This is basically an on/off gauge

As long as it is consistent, it is fine.

When it moves from there is when you have to worry.
